Wide stance/enlarged hips

Thank you! I hobbled my gosling at about 2-3 weeks old last year when he couldn’t even stand or walk at all-worked like a charm! My young goose Gelato now is large so it’s quite a bit harder. Thanks for the video-was trying to remember how I did it! I used the vet wrap as well! Love the stuff.
I tried many times to put a hobble on him but he just falls flat on his face and then he can’t get up due to the restriction of the vet wrap. He is just too big I suppose. I posted a picture of the two stinkers after the last failed hobble attempt. The one on the left is Gelato. You can’t tell in this picture but he is a bit smaller than Sherbert.

Aww, sorry it didn't work! They are super cute!! I would definitely keep them on the liquid vitamin B complex for a few more weeks - can't hurt!!

Yes I’m disappointed about that and I’m definitely going to keep giving them the vitamin b complex. Thank you! In continuing his treatment I had a question about the niacin. I had posted this morning about niacin dosage for geese. I wonder if any of you ladies see it? I’m terrible about how to post my questions. I usually go to the geese and duck section.

For ducks it's 1 ml a day of the liquid vitamin B complex. I'm sure it's quite a bit more for geese. Any excess will flush from their system so you can't overdose.

They are adorable goslings. Makes me want some, of course all these pictures of duckling and chicks makes me want some of each lol
Since the goslings are huge I am wondering if 2ml might be more their dose since the 1 ml is for ducklings over 2 weeks old.
other than the wide stance with his hips he is doing well other wise?

Hi-I thought you did have geese as well. Sorry for that. In my opinion ducks seem easier to have. Lol I have the 6 and I get such a kick out of them. So far they all seem healthy and haven’t had any problems with them.
Yes Gelato seems to be doing ok. I just worry about the deficiency. You never really know if they are really injecting what they need. I think it would be better if I continue giving the vitamin b complex directly by mouth but worry I might choke him one time. I have been putting 2 ml in their small bowl of water but you know how that goes. Since he’s done with medicine and they have their feathers I’m putting them out in the run today to start getting more used to the others. 😊

I do have geese well only one now I lost my gander last Feb in 2022. He was almost 15 yrs Missy will be 11 this month so it’s been a long time since I’ve had goslings. Yes def keep up with the b complex and nutritional yeast on their feed. Some just need more than others. To give meds by mouth. We have info to help if you’ve not see this

Wow ! 15 years old. That’s amazing and now one is 11. That’s awesome😁
Thanks for the link. Will do more reading!
I am sorry to hear the loss of your gander last year. I know that must’ve been hard and most likely still is from time to time.
That sounds like about the time I joined BYC and became a pest. Lol
So thankful for all of you.

I have made a hobble for a gosling last year that couldn’t get up or walk at all-kept falling onto his back. I was able to fix that for him but he also had other problems. This gosling that I am trying to help is more bowlegged and a little pigeon toed but is able to get up and walk but just slightly awkward. This situation was not noticeable until about 3 weeks or so ago. I’ve thought of hobbling him but worry if I it would be doing him more harm than good. It still doesn’t fix his enlarged hip areas which the vet had called a developmental issue. (She didn’t go into detail) I’m giving him vit b complex to treat as a deficiency.
Did you try going with nori strips soaked in water? Or kelp? This stuff is also more natural to them. Nori strips would be pretty cheap. (Yes nori as in for making sushi, but might have to wet it first?)

For seeing how to hook up the hobble... this youtube channel shows a video and you can see how they did it. It might help you.
