wild pigeons

I am living on my grandparents farm and there has always been a small flock of pigeons living in the hay loft of the barn. Some are white and tan but the rest are kind of a grey color. I like watching them and was curious if it would be ok to feed them because they are wild. What do they eat, if I feed them will they get tame eventually? What would you guys do?

well, if you want them tame start feeding them . throw seed or whatever you have around your feet and take a chair.

They've been here for about 50 years. Long before I lived here and got chickens. This flock does really well here.

i lived in the city too long and they were every where. the city imported peregrine falcons to try to control their #s. i always thought they were nasty but my chicken arent. go figure. some people eat them. its called squab.

Not true, band-tailed pigeons in the west are native.

your right, not all are descended from domestic ancestors there are some native species, but the ones seen most often living in cities do come from domestic rock doves

Its ok to feed them since theyre not a native or actual wild species, and yes, they may become fairly tame.
