I had a railroad track rescue kitten - stopped for a train in the middle of nowhere and she ran crying up to the car. We named her Chessie, for the Chessie Line (Chesapeake and Ohio), their mascot was a kitten.

Holy smokes. I wasn't able to get that map to work before. But it's working just fine. Unbelievable. I have no clue how the fire didn't cross Placer and burn down our neighborhood. Thank you for sharing.

I too was part of the Carr fire. I'm off Oasis Rd near Gold Hill's. My story was very similar to yours the night of the F3 fire tornado. Although I wasn't officially evacuated, (but neither was alot of tge citizens that lost their homes) I was scrambling to get everything together and my 3 dogs, 4 cats (2 I cldnt find) and 16 chickens in crates and carriers. My story is long and has many Scarry, emotional and exhausting situations as well. My husband was in the middle of all of it when it happened and I was home with only my son to help me. If you're interested in hearing it, I can tell you everything. My chickens got a midnight ride in the back of my son's truck while my roo (Elvis) was cockadoodling from all the head lights.
Anyways, I'm glad your home survived and all your animals were spared and taken care of. The fire isn't over and my husband will be busy for months as he is a lineman foreman for the federal government, Western Area Power Administration, and responsible for all the lines that come from all the dams, and trsnsmtransm and distribution to all of northern California.
ShannonR, I'm so sorry about your house and the loss of your furbabies. It's truly an emotional time for our city, but I'm glad to see so many people come forward with kindness and willingness to help.
I'll be thinking of all you in Shasta county as we move forward with the next chapter

Wait a minute! That means that Elvis really did leave the building, right? Or at least the coop! I'm glad he made it out safely - and hope you found your missing kitties, too. Cats have a stubborn way of hanging in and turning up, even when you don't think it's possible - and I LOVE them for it!
