Will 1 chick be ok by itself?

lone chicks have gotta be with a broody or get a buddy quick

on two occasions have i tried to raise chicks alone, and both came out mean or crazy. the leghorn hen attcks me like a rooster and beats up the other chickens (she broke my roo's leg!) and so she now lives alone. the other was a polish roo who ended up scared of other chickens and would hide his head in the corner while the girls pecked him

I had all ages of chicks in together, maybe keep them close where they can see eachother and have a very fuzzy stuffed animal for the baby, but it will be lonely....

OH MY GOSH! That is so horrible, poor babies! At least they have a good chicken mamma who hasn't made them stew yet! LOL!

Just one chick?......if you want to have a buddy for life then this is the time.

Chickens are Flock fowl and the need some buddies....SO with that being said....YOU be their (the little bitties) flock.

I have three that were singles and I interact with each of them each day and they are the greatest birds I have ever had.

Meyers is a hatchery in Polk, OH. It is about an hour to an hour and 20 minutes South West of downtown Cleveland.

We do have 2 other chicks, so eventually it will have friends. I was going to put the other 2 out soon, but am thinking I will keep them inside longer so the new loner can at least see them. I hope it becomes/stays friendly. It will get lots of one on one time, etc.

Polk is 2 hours from us. I can't even imagine trying to convince my husband that I need to drive 4 hours to pick up 1 chick.

Well so far so good. He is settling in nicely. He has a soft towel he's curling up with. Of course he was very loud for the first several hours, but so were our others when they were new too. He's very friendly and sweet, will just right into your hands. He's also very tiny, seems smaller than the others when we got them, although I may have just forgotten. So I don't want to hold him too much yet. I have his heat lamp on and keep making sure the temp is ok since he's alone. Hopefully it continues this well. He's a good eater and pecker.

What a cutie. Meyers will ship you as few as 3 chicks if you order immediately. They ship on Mondays, and I got mine Tuesday and I live 5 hours from them in southern OH.
