I was curious about something.

Will an egg with two yolks hatch two chicks, or will the chicks not survive?

I had a hen and she hatched ALOT of chicks in her life time. One was a double yoker. One gray chick and one black were in one VERY long egg. They lived.

What breed was the hen?

It is interesting that you would get two different looking chicks in one egg. That makes me suspect the father was a different breed than the mother.

I thought a double-yolk egg seemed like it would be too crowded for the chicks. I guess it can work out if the two chicks don't kick each other to death inside the egg.

Supermarket eggs shouldn't hatch if they come from a farm specializing in eggs, as they normally don't have cockerels. Sometimes local farms might, though.
