Will he survive?

he is wild. we rescued him 3 weeks ago (all of his siblings died because of a predator) another mallard with one duckling keeps coming to his cage and got in at one point and stayed with him for a while. obviously not his mom since they other duckling is smaller and looks younger. could i release him to her?

If she is coming to his cage, she may think he’s hers. Try it! If she takes him, that’s fantastic and the best scenario for him.

That might work, and would be an excellent solution.

the only problem is he doesn’t seem to like other ducklings (he was fine with the mom duck) and when we had another mallard duckling in for the night (to recover from a fishing line on his foot) we introduced them and even tho he was youngerand smaller he tried to attack the other baby

I'm a novice at rescuing wild animals, but it sounds to me like that momma mallard wants to take him under her wing. Will he follow her out? And if he does, why not let him? She will teach him what he needs to know, I hope. Keep in mind, I'm just suggesting. Have not rescued anything wild before.
