Will sand as bedding reduce the smell of cecal poop?

I’m keeping two coturnix quails as indoor pets and currently they are living in a cage that has a wire floor with newspapers underneath. Unfortunately their cecal poop stinks but as bad as chicken cecal poop. If I remove the wire flooring and put play sand as their flooring will the sand reduce their cecal poop smell?

It might. The sand will dry it out, and dry poop doesn't smell nearly as much. To be honest, though, I don't recommend keeping them indoors due to the dust, dander, and smell.

That's a pretty good question! My experience is that nothing makes the smell of a freshly produced cecal go away, should the timing be such poor luck that I walk into the coop just then. But it will indeed go away once it's been in the sand for about 10minutes.
