Willa rooster mate a pullet if she's not laying yet?

They kinda know when it's "time". Our roo is probably 6 weeks older than the girls, and he pampered and coddled them til they were about 18 weeks, then he put his foot down. They started laying at 20 - 21 weeks. He's still a gentleman, but what he wants he gets.

My cochin rooster has been mating with hens for months, I finally got the first egg 2 days ago.

Yes he will; My roo mates first thing upon leaving the coop and over and over throughout the day. 8 hens and 1 lucky roo.
