The second one is yellow cake flavored with almond extract with almond-flavored icing. I love almond. Mmmmm...!!

I'd share cake with you anytime, Angie!

I use the recipe you are referring to. I like that you get a bigger yield with less shortening. It always gets rave reviews!

I got to worrying about almond extracts and food allergies and switched to imitation almond for weddings, graduations, etc,...

I didn't want to accidently kill a party goer. Then it occurred to me that most people are aware of their allergies and aren't likely to even eat food they did not prepare.

You did a great job with your transfer and the piping gel! Very pretty.

Great cakes .I too took classes while living in Ca.

but who has the recipe for the frosting made with coolwhip and pudding? any one heard of it?

All your cakes look yummy! I work in a bakery at our local grocery store and decorate cakes (among other things)

Wow! I can't believe four weeks have gone by already. I've learned so much about baking cakes and decorating them. I even learned how to make roses, and those seemed impossible to me when I started the class.

Here is my "graduation" cake:

Here are everyone's cakes together:

Yup... I will probably do another one later in the year. They have one for Royal Icing (more flowers), one for fondant, and there's another one, I think for tiered cakes.
