Central looked at a large bowl-shapes cavity in the cave. "Here. This would be prefect." She began to squeeze and pretty soon juice was running down to fill up the hole.

Tan started dustbathing again.

Fort decided to hop up and join her, wheezing. "So, whereabouts did you wander as a loner? I'd never seen you befroe in my travels."

"I know, the bigger trees can be a bit scary, especially now." Red looked up. "I hope I can fly as well as my mother one day."

"Well I usually hop up and glide down kind of fun until I crash into somthing."

"it must be your body type. I'm built heavily like Central, so gliding isn't really an option for us. Sounds like fun though."

"Is Central your mother, or a broody hen that just hatches chicks"

"Central's my mother. I think I get my colouring from dad though, although I've never seen him..."

A little dark figure suddenly appeared at the top edge of the trench. "Yes," it peeped.

"Oh!" she gasped, carefully toeing over to the other bird, "Are you all right?"

She continued to stand there as a strip of moonlight hit her body through what was left of the trees, revealing a tiny charcoal toned chick with shocking crystal blue eyes, looking much too old for her age. "'M fine," chirped the chick. "But you're not..." She paused and looked around, her tone softening. "Wha' tappened?"

"Your lucky you had a mother, the closest thing to a mother was a incubator."

"Well, I'm just trying to find my clanmates," she heaved a sigh and her eyes solemnly fell downcast. "And I think that there's a dead one down there..." she indicated the trench, the silhouette still floating along.

"Oh, I'm sorry IcePaw," Red said, truly feeling sad. "I couldn't imagine life without my mother. What was it like for you?"

She did not dare look at the body, knowing exactly who it was as soon as the hen mentioned the death. "Which clan did 'jyou come from?" she peeped, trying to get a closer look at her from the dark of the night.

"You get over it eventually allthough, it's weird fun and hard."
