There was a small chuck in the nearby bushes. Before anyone had a chance to turn around, Redfern had placed a few herbs at Pepper's feet and was gone.
When he took a step to follow the strange hen, he felt something soft on the ground under his foot and paused. "What's this?" he uttered to himself, painfully bending over to pick it up with the weight of the rooster on his back. He lifted the leaves into the filtered light to examine them. "Herbs?" he murmured thoughtfully, squinting at the nearby shrubs where he'd heard rustling earlier. "Uhm, thank you!" he called over his shoulder to nobody in particular, before falling back into stride with the hen.
Redfern was in her underground den sorting through the rest of her herb collection when she heard the call. She quickly resurfaced to tell him he was welcome, but he was nowhere in sight. Red shrugged. Not many people knew about her little "room" here on the outskirts of the territory. She had it near the stream so she culd keep the plants cool with the damp soil.
