“No problem! We had better get to sleep now. It’s so dark!"
As Sunny and Xerxes walked off to thier coop, Sunny said in a loud whisper, “I don’t understand. How could any bird be mean to her? She has the sweetest temperament of any bird I’ve known, and a natural mother as well.”
Xerxes shrugged. “I certainly have taken a liking to her. Maybe I could help Singing Heart train her sister, when you’re a forager you still have to be alert like a ground guard.”
Bigmamma turned to the direction of their coop- which happened to be the one right beside Sunny`s and Xerxes`s coop. "Come on. We better go to the coop."
~~~
Tiny nodded with a wince. The two sisters set off for the coop. Another night sleeping on the floor. Not the roost, the floor. Most didn`t really hate going to the coop, it was a safe place. Safe from predators, yes, but not from other chickens. Tiny did have a preference between night and day, in the night when the chickens were finding roosts she was always the favorite target, small, helpless, and different, yes, she was the perfect target. In the day she was free, she could run to the forest, to freedom.
But maybe since she had a Trainer now things would be different? But how would that make a difference? It wasn`t like a Trainer could change her eyes. Blood, She thought. my eyes are the color of blood. What kind of chicken has eyes the color of blood?
They stopped in-front of the coop then hopped in through a hole in the wall.
Chickens were finding roosts now. "Hey," Bigmamma whispered. "Follow me. Stay down, maybe they won`t see you." Tiny nodded and Bigmamma led her to a corner of the coop no chickens really ever went to. "We can sleep here tonight. Tomorrow I have another idea." Tiny nodded to her sister and settled down to sleep. Her sister put a wing around her. Tiny quickly drifted off to sleep.
NEXT MORNING
Sunny stretched and clucked to her babies. Xerxes crowed from the roost, and came down to Sunny. “Ready to go? The chicks sound hungry,” he said.
“Yup I’m ready. I wonder if Tiny is up yet,” she said. “I want to show her where the best place is to get chicks fed.”
“Why don’t you go check? I’ll check out the feeding spot and then I’ve gotta get to my post. There’s been a fox hanging around lately,” Xerxes said as he crawled out the door and into the sunshine.
Sunny followed soon after, and walked to Tiny’s coop. “Tiny? Are you ready to go?” Sunny had never been in this coop, and she looked at the other chickens, and then Tiny and Bigmamma in the corner.
Bigmamma was already awake. She hadn`t moved an inch yet. She raised her head to look at Sunny, then nudged Tiny. "Wake up, Tiny. Sunny is here."
~~~
Tiny`s eyes snapped open, her dreams like shards around her- not able to piece together any of it. She gave an aggravated huff, she knew it had to be some kind of memory of her parents. If only they didn`t fade as soon as she woke.
She and Bigmamma climbed to their feet and scrambled out of the coop. "Hey Sunny!" Tiny peeped.

Name: Beth
Gender: Female
Age: 1 year or so
Flock: Sodra I think
Rank: Scout fledge
Personality: Always happy, pretty much nothing gets her down. She's the one that anyone would trust to spill their guts to, even if they just met. She can be a bit of a blonde, in a sense, but she knows when she screws up and isn't afraid to own her mistakes and learn from them. Always has a kind word for everyone, and if she doesn't... you're stupid. She is very forgiving and refuses to let little things kill a good mood, but makes sure to not be annoying about it.
BUT
Despite all this, she has learned to be more guarded around birds she's never met. Her forgiving Spirit has lead to betrayal more times than she's ok with, so she makes sure that she understands how a chicken thinks before she really opens herself up.
Breed/Description: Bielefelder
History: Nothing extravagant. She was raised as a pet by her humans, which accounts for most of her calm temperament, but when they were killed she made the transition to being cautious around them quickly. This is part of what caused the more wary side of her temperament.
Parents/siblings: Chickens
Crush: She has taken an interest in Egret, but for now is just trying to get to know him better

I only changed the flock. If you read all of this to find the change, good for you. :3

She and Bigmamma climbed to their feet and scrambled out of the coop. "Hey Sunny!" Tiny peeped.
“Hi there! The chicks are hungry. Follow me, we’re going to my favorite spot. We can find a great breakfast,” Sunny said.
Suddenly one of the hens on the roost darted down towards Ziv, who had strayed. As Ziv screamed, Sunny rushed forward, hackles up. She attacked the other hen, yanking out a few feathers. The other hen, startled, dropped back. Sunny quickly rushed her chicks and Tiny out of that coop. They headed off toward the woods.

Egret paced along where he was supposed to guard.
Beth did scouty things.

Jk

Beth looked up from digging into a half-buried rotting log to check her surroundings. A flicker of whatever Egret's feathers are colored caught her eye, but she could tell it was a chicken and decided to investigate. She slipped quietly through the foliage towards the shape, whom she could now recognize as Egret. He wasn't facing her, so she stopped and studied him for a moment. He was standing on an old stump, head tilted so one eye was on the sky, watching a flock of crows soar past. "Egret?" She called, stepping out of the bushes where he could see her.

(I've copied most of the earlier charries down, but there's still lots to go... https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/wings-of-war-character-page.73767/)
THANK YOUUUUUU :hugs :thumbsup

(What does it mean to fledge a chick?)
It's basically like a mentor, if you hadn't figured that out since you posted this. :p

Bigmamma was quite far away when the hen attacked, but she saw it all. Opting to stay out of this one, she simple watched Tiny fight. She`s never done that...
~~~
As the hen attacked Ziv, Tiny rushed at her. Flying at the hen she clawed at her face, making her screech and stumble back. The hen`s foot hit Tiny in the neck and Tiny chirped in pain. As Sunny rushed off, Tiny ran after her. Only when they went a ways away did she realize she had a large gash in the side of her neck from the hen`s claws and it was bleeding. "Ouch,"
“Oh Tiny! You’re hurt. Here, just clean it out with some water,” Sunny had Tiny dip her neck in the creek. “I was trained by a healer,” she said. “But since I couldn’t be both a broody and healer, I opted for broody. Thank you for helping me save Ziv.”
The small chick looked up at Tiny with forever growing adoration.
“Now, lets go get something to eat.”
Sunny led the way to a clearing. In the soft mud were Xerxes’ foot prints, so she knew it was safe. “When you find something for them to eat, pick it up carefully without swallowing, them drop it. Cluck like this. Then let them grab it.”
