"Scouting is easy. You can't say that for many jobs. You just have to find edible stuff and keep a watchful eye on your surroundings."
A grasshopper hopped by and Singing Heart snatched it.
"For now, we can look for berries and seeds. Then we can learn to catch live prey, which isn't necessary for survival, but gives you a professional reputation. Then we will learn to lift heavier things. All easy. And we might have to help the healers out every once in a while. They like that." A thrush flew overhead. "What was that? Oh, a thrush. I can be easily distracted by my surroundings, which is good, so you can sense danger. Also, I must do some necessary battle training with you, in case anything bad happens.... like with those other flocks... or predators. Sorry this all might not make sense to you, I'm over excited, you're my first fledge."

From where he was totally not stalking them in the bushes, Arrow stepped into the sunlight. His golden feathers glinted in a way that would have made a photographer swoon - but wait! Cameras didn't work very well yet. "Ladies," he said politely, dipping his head in greeting. "I finished my last job, mind if I tag along with you? I can keep a lookout so yoiu can focus on your fledge, Singing Heart," he offered.

(Just a little background, Arrow is a 2 y/o buff orp roo ;))

Singing Heart sighed. This would be so much easier by herself. "Ok, tag along, make yourself useful..." she said

Bigmamma walked after her, humming along but not saying the words.

"Okay!" Tiny clucked. Then hesitated. "Can I ask you a question? Like, a weird and kinda personal question?"
“Sure Tiny. What’s up?” Sunny asked as she continued to feed her chicks.

"Ok, good. And if you see anything wierd, tell me. What do you see that is edible around here?"
Bigmamma glanced at Arrow and gave him a curt nod in greeting. "Yes, Singinheart." She glanced around. "There`s a wild Blue-berry bush."
“Sure Tiny. What’s up?” Sunny asked as she continued to feed her chicks.
Tiny paused, and looked up at the sky. "These chicks, are they yours, or just chicks you are raising?" She asked, still looking at the sky as if it were the most interesting thing in the world.

Arrow nodded, sensing their disdain. He went and hopped up onto a small boulder and stood alert, listening intently for signs of trouble.

"No, no hawks today. Just the occasional Sparrow and crow.", Egret answered.
(I have 0 energy please forgive this post.)
(XD okay)
Beth nodded. "That's good," she said.

Yeah
Um
What do they talk about without getting super in depth super fast

"Yes, let's go to the blueberry bush," said Singing Heart. "Gather them on a leaf." Her voice turned to a conspiratorial whisper.
"And you can eat some too if you want," she laughed. She was glad Arrow was keeping his distance. She hated annoying roosters who wanted to follow her while she was doing her job. She did not need help. Chatting with her friends, that was ok, but Arrow was not her friend. She didn't care if he made foolish jokes or spoke the Queen's English. (That would be creepy, actually)

“Oh these are mine,” Sunny answered. “I hope you don’t mind me asking, but why do you ask?”

Tiny looked at her. "I didn`t know if hens keep their chicks or abandon them to other hens." She paused. "Hercules never told me why me and my sisters were alone. If our parents died or... or didn`t want us."

Bigmamma quickly grabbed a large leaf and took it over to the berries, and began to pick them.
