Name; Hercules
Age; 3 (and a half) months
Breed; Pekin
Gender; Male
He's the sweetest! We originally had 5 ducks, but two got extremely aggressive to Hercules and just ripped out his wings nonstop... this led constant bleeding. The blood seemed to be infected, and he was a bit lethargic; in a panic, my family member gave him a bath... with soap that destroyed his oil that helps ducks float. Good news, it was only at the injured spot. Bad news, he doesn't swim as well as the others... we took the aggressive ducks to our pond, it's beside a huge flock of wild (friendly) Pekin's that free range the mountain! What was funny about the situation; Hercules was bigger than the bullies, but he took it and never snapped! Anywho, Hercules never loved the water. I have a video of all the other duckling's getting in the pool, and him just sitting outside preening and pouting; so him not swimming well doesn't really come up that often!

Name: Chrissy
Age: 1.4 yrs, at time of photograph
Breed: Welsh Harlequin
Gender: Female
What makes your duck special to you: Chrissy was the loveliest bird I have ever owned. She was part of my first trio of ducks, which I doted over like any loving mother. Her sister, Heather, was identical to her except for chest colouring---she had rusty striping and Heather had smooth colour changes. After a horrible mink attack that left her two buddies dead and her severely injured, I nursed her back to health. She lost a foot and had deep wounds on her head and thigh. It was a long road, but she pulled through like the spunky sweetheart she was. She became very tame and would hop over to me and flump her chest onto my lap. She had a special pillow too that she would sit on when I wasn't there and turn it into a sopping wet mess every day. The stinker. Unfortunately, she broke her thigh when she was 1.5 years old, and I was unable to fix her up despite my best efforts, so I made the awful decision to have her euthanised. I hated it, but her quality of life was gone and she was in pain. That was over a year ago and I still miss her terribly. The pictures I have of her aren't the best, but she was truly special to me so that is why I am entering her.

This was her thread when she was alive. Now it's about my current ducks, which are all lovely but not as much as her.
