Entry #1
Name: Xena
Age: 11 Weeks old
Breed: Rouen
Gender: Female

I am a new duck momma (this is the first time ever owning/raising ducks). I call Xena my miracle duckie. When she was 5-6 weeks old she started having seizures. It progressed so bad where she was having them once an hr. Nothing seemed to help. She wasn't eating. Wouldn't drink. She'd lost around 50% of her body weight within 3 days. She was 2.9lbs when I first took her to the vet and 3 days later she was only 1.6lbs. By this time she had had well over 60 seizures (I stopped keeping track so I don't know how many over that number). The vet suggested that I may seriously think about euthanizing her. I was crushed. I literally was looking up a place to take her and where I could get a toxicology report to find out the "why". While I was trying to come to terms with a hard decision it got late enough where I couldn't do it that day. I told myself I would do it that next afternoon. But Xena, my little warrior, is a fighter. She started drinking that evening. I even got her to eat a little. She went the longest time without a seizure throughout the night than she had since this started. She wasn't giving up so I couldn't give up on her. Fast forward to today and I am so thrilled to say that she has made a complete recovery, has grown like a weed and is THRIVING. That is why she is named Xena, my little warrior duckie. :love

Entry #2
Name: Noah
Age: 11 Weeks old
Breed: Rouen
Gender: Male

This is my sweetie Noah. He is enjoying the fresh water in his pool that I just filled up. You can see that he is starting to get in his male feather coloring in and I just think it is beautiful. His chest feathers are turning Burgundy. His underbelly is turning grey as well as elsewhere on his body. You can faintly see the white ring around the neck starting to develop. He's getting more dark feathering around his bill and head. If the sun would've been shining at the moment when the pic was taken you could've seen the green shimmer starting on his head. He's special just because this is the first time owning ducks for me. All of this is new and wonderful and just amazing to watch unfold. He likes to eat snacks from my hands and nibble at my pants for attention. He's awesome!

Too precious of a story. If the story counts in the judging, the rest of us just lost. :love
