Winter Cyclone Question

I’m in Colorado and we are in the middle of a blizzard cyclone! This morning, before we had any snow, my 3 girls went out to play in the rain. It was fairly warm still (37 degrees), and they got soaked! Then the snow came fast and they went into their coop. The coops is dry and has a heater, but I’m worried they will be too wet to get dry and that they will get too cold. Does anyone have any information about this? They are Wyandottes and they are 9 months old. They have been or all winter, but I’m always worrying about them. Suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated! TIA

They will be fine, chickens produce a great deal of heat, if they are out of the wind, they will be dry in 30 minutes.

Welcome to BYC! Yes they will be fine, mine have been getting wet all winter. This system, they call the bombogenesis, is affecting a large area, us included here in MO. We're on the other side of it and the wind is 45 mph gusting to 50 something. Tho we won't get the snow here.

BTW, what age are your chickens? They really don't need heat in the coop if they are adults.

I'm in the middle of the same storm out in Peyton, CO. My ducks were actually out in the storm, hunkered down in the snow. I had to chase them in the coop and close the door. Crazy birds! The storm is a big one for sure.
