Winter Quilt Block Swap 2013

Thank you Baustin. I know somewhere in the back of my head, that I know your name, but right now... I've got fuzz growing behind my eyes and it affects everything I do... or try to do.

My bed is calling me.
My name is Betty in case you don't remember. My granddaughter has picked a name for her baby and both her and her husband didn't want to pick names that belonged to members of the family so they wouldn't offend anyone by not choosing their name. They decided on Madison Olivia and I'm not telling that my middle name is Olive. A name I detest so she won't change the name chosen. I swear my mother must have hated me when she picked these names for me. I was born in the UK and if she had named me Elizabeth then I would have been nicknamed Lizzy and she didn't want that and my middle name was my grandmothers name on my fathers side. Needless to say I've had to live with them but sure wouldn't want someone naming their child after me.

Baby naming story - when my mom had her last child, my parents had picked a boys and a girls name out. So my dad went home after the little girl was born and called all the family and friends telling them that Patricia Ann was born. Next day he went back to the hospital and happened to look at the babies bracelet and found out my mom had totally changed the babies name to Wendy Sue! So he had to call every back up and tell them the real name. Thankfully, everyone who knew my mom understood and had a good laugh with him about it! My sister now says she is glad to be a Wendy and doesn't feel like she would have been a good Patricia at all :)

I have an absolute passion for antique names. My daughters names are Ruth Emily and Julia Elizabeth. Each of their names is a family or friend name. I'm a hopeless romantic in love with very old things, buildings, breeds, and names. What could possilby be more beauiful and loving thann to always be reminded of people dear to you when you say a beloved and dear family name. I myself am named after my fathers mother who died two weeks after his premature birth in 1941 and his dear old friend. I love that history. My daughter Ruth has my adored grandmother and her dads adored great aunt is her first name. Julia is the name of several loved people. Ditto the middle names.

I think its very charming that we can all do differnt things and still somehow the answer came out just right for all of us, even though the answers may differ.

No blocks today, maybe tomorrow

Patricia Ann is my mothers name, but her original name was Violet Marie, and the grandmother pitched such a fit saying that was a good name for a cow, Violet Marie actually made it to her birth certificate and it is crossed out and Patricia Ann is written in its place. My name is Kathleen Sue, but if mom had her way I would have been a Leslie Carol, dad wanted a Kathleen and the rest of the kids picked Sue, dad called me Sue, or Suzie, and the kids called me Kathy. Crazy events take place when naming a child and I like Olive too

My blocks arrived. They are lovely. Thank you all.

A name quilt would be fun. I have an antique one with hand embroidery. I've been thinking about doing a Texas quilt inspired by these. They are from the modern quilters guild.

Yeh, we got lucky!! Our blocks have been delivered to Mary today. We plan to open them when we go out for lunch with some other quilters on Wednesday next week.
Mary said the mail man was chuckling about what Marty had written on the package!
Roll on Wednesday

Went to doc yesterday, how depressing. I think all doc's are nuts. I need to find a new again. I have lupus and with the food poisoning I am still sick. They don't do anything for because that has nothing to do with the lupus they say I say it does because it make it hang around longer. Anyway had to go down there almost a 2 hour drive one way or they won't give me the prescription for my meds I have to go every three months. Anyways I am working on the blocks and love them I want to keep them all and make a quilt, lol. My hen hatched three eggs two of which are Jersey Giants like her. On the way home I stopped at TSC that's all I had the energy for and you guessed it bought some chicks 6 EE's two are yellow, the others are browns and a few have stripes sooooooo cute. I put them under my broody and she didn't know what was happening but she is taking care of them its sweet. So now I have 9 baby chicks and she is still sitting on three eggs should hatch today I would think, I seen a dead one way in back but I would have to mom and remove it she is not having any part of that maybe I ought to remove her completely clean that up and put her back. I am wondering if its poop back there? I hate to bug her.

Our blocks only took 7 days to arrive! That's really good. Rosie got it wrong. I don't have a mail man, I have a post lady! In fact we don't have mail anythings over here, they are all postmen or women.
My name is Mary Annette. I was to be Richard until I was born so my name came about in a hurry. Dad wanted to name me after his sisters, Hilda, Constance or Joan. Mum named me after her best friend. My middle name came about because the lady in the next bed to Mum had a daughter the same day. Her baby was called Annette and she suggested to Mum that their babies had each others name. So, somewhere there is a woman, with the same birthday as me, called Annettte Mary. The nurses in the hospital called Annette Mary the little flue brush because she had a mass of black hair. I was Miss Inquisitive because I appeared to be looking around me all the time. You may be interested to know that I became a scientist so it fits!
