I love your little ducky Marty!

Thanks Lacy!

I've been checking out snockflake block patterns. Maybe a study in whites, silver, and blue for my blocks. I'm in love with those colors for winters! Or, maybe a candle in the window block.....

Yes, you get some more of my blocks. For the rest of you in this swap....paulsmuffen is my daughter. I'm on one coast and she's on the other. We have fun when we're on a swap like this.

I ordered my fabric tonight. Its primitive snowmen, snowflakes & twig/berry fabrics. I think I have a pattern picked out but am not sure. I was thinking of http://delawarequilts.com/BOMs/HunterStar/ This is a great site & has many patterns already sized to the 12" we are doing. I am going to do mine somewhat reversed to the colors: background light, star tips medium & dark. I am hoping it gives it more of a Ponsettia look but will do a dry run to see if I like it. I hope I ordered enough fabric

I have never done this so am not sure how much I need. But no worries if not I will try to order more or may have to do different fabrics.

Ok, I have to ask...

I've been searching out fabrics that I want to use for my block. The one that I found that I really really like is not cotton. So, here's my question... If I did a star pattern where there is a fussy cut kind of thing in the middle, would it be alright for that piece only to be nylon/polyester? It's a sheer fabric but I would put white cotton behind it. The only issue I'm thinking would be the heat of ironing it. Being nylon/polyester, it wouldn't shrink (I don't think) and we should be using pre-washed fabrics for our blocks so they won't shrink or bleed color, right?

Let me know please, as I'll have to find something else if this is not acceptable.

Lacy... I don't have a problem with that type of fabric. You can steam press it, you just hold a steam iron above it with out touching the fabric and give it a few shots of steam, or you can test a piece of it on a very low setting on your iron. I always prewash my fabrics I don't know about others, thats just what I like to do

The fabric sounds fine, hon. Yes, we should all prewash/soak/shrink in whatever way seems best to us, all of our fabric being sewing, so there will be no unhappy surprises after the first wash.

I'm so looking forward to this block exchange (and the fall one, for those of you on it too).
