OK GOOD Morning Everyone! It's 70 out there this AM but still sticky. Jim "woodpeckers"

Cind L's fam lives in and around LG she goes down there quite a bit and I go once in awhile. Next time I go I'll let you know and stop for a short visit. Would love to see ya! CC I too felt weird yesterday was out in the garage till 11 sharpening good neighbor Donny's stuff think I stayed too long. Had a box fan on the floor to keep the biting flies off but was still sweatin. Didn't get hardly anything done yesterday that I wanted to. We have "kids" in the neighborhood so nothing gets left out, but don't lock up anything except the house doors at night. Wouldn't do that except L makes me. Have quite the arsonal around here but my fav year is 1911 it's within reach at night and you would only get one chance to FREEZE then you'd get cut in half. I don't have a problem with that. The house doors do not get oiled and I know the sounds they both make. So much more that I wanted to address but it's not happening. Kinda like going and getting drywall today. Making a jar of hot fridge pickles today along with cleaning salads for tonight. Then back into the bedroom to do what I was gonna yesterday. Stay out of the heat everyone!

Scary! I don't have any damage here. But a friend of mine was right in the path of that storm. She lives about a 1/2 mile from Spencer Lake and had a tree THROUGH her house!
ep.gif
Right in the center of her kitchen. It's a trailer and the insurance company said they MAY total her house.

No damage here from last night. But Stevens Point still has 17,000 people without power. Tons of damage there.

Good morning! Hope everyone in the north fared the storms last night. I hear they got pretty wicked up by the Marshfield/Point area. And flooding...

MLH - sorry to hear about your WOSC - hope they don't waste any space in freezer camp

Another scorching one here again this morning, got in from chicken chores about 7 and my back was full of sweat. Another great day... and I had to shovel shavings and change out the bedding in the coop.

Yesterday hubby and I went up to Marshfield to pick up some atv's from my parents friends house and on the way home, we got to Tomah and BAM we blew a tire on the trailer. That was so much FUN to change in the sweltering heat of 3:00 in the afternoon. Man alive!

That farm we looked at, bank gave us the okay to put in an offer, so we called the realtor and they said it was sold. Someone wired money from Utah for the earnest money. Go figure. Our luck this week has been pretty crappy. The farm, a completely blind bull calf, hubby's trip to the ER, blown trailer tire... what next?! Might as well wrap us in bubble wrap and store us in a closet for the rest of the week.

I was out til dark last night mowing lawn, we have a hay field in our yard and there is no way I am going to mow it during the day... so tonight the mower will be fired up again at 8:30 and go til dark again. Hope to get the front done...

Keep cool everyone, my birds are doing well in this heat. Haven't been doing too much water changing. I am filling the waterers with ice in the morning and then freezing cold water from the hose and it seems to be lasting until about 4:00 and then I go change it out. Most of the ice is melted out but the water still is cold.

Good Morning All !!!!!

CC thanks for noticing I'm still MIA !!

Been a long couple of days. After my last post on Sunday, I was in the middle of adding to my post and our power went out. Never sent the update and it is still on my puter so here is what I was adding to it:

Great, ET just came in, said to listen for train sounds or him yelling for me to go downstairs. Said it looks like tornado coming. Then I said, GREAT actually I said $h!T, that means I have to put clothes on !!!! AND right after he said that the power went out !!!! So my lap top still has some juice but better get off of it for now !!!! Eat my ice cream in the dark, then get dressed !!! and get ready to go to the basement !!!! Hope all the critters are ok outside !!!
So yes Jimbo, Nashville has been officially unplugged !!!
gig.gif
AND I have eggs in the bator but they shouldn't cool off to much !!!

Later

So that happended Sunday night !!! NASHVILLE WAS UNPLUGGED !!! Where were you Jim around 8pm Sunday night ?

So needless to say my road trip got postponed for a day. It was hotter then HE!! monday as you all know, no power all day. Called the power Co all night Sunday checking the status, not that it made any difference. First they said it would be on by 2pm Mondsay, then between 3 & 5pm, then 9pm, I quite calling !!!
barnie.gif

So without our pump working and all these animals to feed we went to town to buy water for the chickens, thank goodness ET had filled the horse waters Sunday night
thumbsup.gif

So bought 20 gallons of water. Decided to stop for lunch and eat in a cool place. Left the truck running with the air on HI for Butt Dog. (We have 2 keys)

So of course by the time we got home it was around 3pm and the electric was back on !!!!
clap.gif
Now, I'm prepared for next time, have 20 gallons of water in jugs !!!
barnie.gif

So, as I type I am laying here in bed at the luggerious Motel 6 in Oshkosh. Cheapest place I could find to spend the night. Not to bad of a place, Killed one fruit fly in the bathroom sink, one spider in the shower this morning and watched something on the ceiling last night

So my road trip started around 10am Tuesday.
barnie.gif
Made it to 5 Fleet Farms so far, one to go. Was to tired to Drive to Marshfield. Drove about 350 in one day, that's enough. Now just another 200 or so and I'll have all of the fence these guys had in stock and I"ll be home. You should all see the back seat of my car
barnie.gif
Filled to the brim !!!

I"m getting real excited to be getting pasture for my horses. Plus the round pen set up. Still wondering what to use for footing and how deep? Anyone?

Sure is nice laying here with the Air on and no humidity in the room. Makes the $52 well worth it !!! Miss my Dog though !!! And I'm sure she is going nuts not knowing where MoM is?
hit.gif
I'll have to buy here something at the next Fleet Farm.

TO Here is fence that I am getting. Getting the 5mm size, the heaviest one. We have a strand of it up and it works great. http://www.dareproducts.com/products-xtreme.asp There are alot smaller sizes too that would be good for around chicken coops. I did buy a roll of some of that just for that purpose.

Well, I'll catch up later and post more of my trip later. Think as long as I'm still here in Oshkosh I'll hit a few stores before I leave town. Not like I have any more room. I'll be lucky to get the last 9 rolls of fencing in my car !!

Stay cool today everyone !!

Oh Jim, I'm PMing you. Someone called me and wants Guinea chicks, what colors do you have? I was thinking about stopping on my way back home and getting some. She lives in Rhinelander area but the more I thought about it I'll give her your phone number and she can come get them. That's all I would need is chirping guineas in the backseat today too !!!!

Brutal Afternoon All.... First planting of spinach was pulled this morning. Not alot but filled a 2 gal bag. Picked our first zucchini today prolly a doz small ones enough for our vavorite dish. Plenty of weeds, but way to wet to be stepping in there for now. I also have lawn that needs attention, oh well it'll have to wait.

Glad you had a safe trip FT. Hope your fencing chores go well.

Cind that's to funny about the corn, never heard that one before.

I'm off to check on the flock.....I do I do I do I do I do I do believe in Global Warming!

All the talk earlier about taking in vagabonds, and look what showed up here last week.

19857_july_15_1.jpg

Little sprat was in a tree in our woods, visible from the yard. I estimate he's about 5-6 weeks, pretty thin but he has discovered the paradise of canned cat food.
lol.png
He is named Coal, to go along with these two scamps we adopted from Julie last month - Ash and Ember.

19857_mousetraps.jpg

I asked DH, how did we go from 2 cats to 5 in less than a month, LOL. These will be outdoor mousetraps.

Good roasty toasty afternoon all!

Well, MRI didn't get done today...dodo didn't have the stent info they needed, so once we got home I got the lovely task of contacting 4 hospitals for operative reports and jumping through all the hoops to get them faxed over STAT to VA...
he.gif
seriously 4 phone calls to get a working fax number, do these people really work there??? And don't get me started on "dead end options" that never connect you to a live person! 7 calls to same place just to talk to a person! ARGGGGGGHHHHH
smack.gif
Add to that that they gave him diazapam because he's claustraphobic and I know have a very loopy man who insisted the whole way home he could have drove! He's not happy can't drive til tomrorow.. they said it could kick back on him after hours of feeling ok. Yipee for me!
gig.gif
free entertainment! Although he was a bit crabby
rant.gif

This morning walked the dog a little earlier and coming back down the hill there was mamma deer w/2 youngsters. Of course no camera in hand, too rushed to get things done in time to make appt at VA, not to mention trying to take pics with rambunctous mini schnauzer who wants to hunt everything! But they were adorable, one of the youngsters was racing as fast as it could around mamma, just too cute.

Visitings monsters almost got taken to Madison and dropped on mothers doorstep last night. After ignoring for DD for ovr an hour then going in her bedroom and closing the door on her! What the???? DH had an hour talk with the really rotten one and she said she knows I don't want her here and that I accused her of stealing because I asked if anyone took a piece of paper off the desk and I looked at her when I said it. Sheesh! So then he told me to talk to her... I went in to get her and said we needed to talk, she refused... so in front of the other two girls I told her... "you think I don't want you here and that I don't like you... well it's not you, it's the attitude. I don't do attitude. The other day I told you we clean up after ourselves around here and I no sooner said it than you picked up your breakfast dishes dropped them inthe sink and walked down stairs. Emily ended up doing your dishes." "NO, I did them." "No, I sat right there and watched you." (She looks at other kid, didn't I...she shakes head, no Emily did)..." Whether you realize it or not that said 'F@^$ You, I don't have to listen to anything your say or do anything here. After we're nice enough to open our home to you, spend 240.00 dragging you to the water slide park, spending another $100.00 on eating out and this is how you act? REally? You can at least respond when spoken to..... at which point she says what do you want me to say? Oh, heck, I don't know, an answer? I heard you, anythiong other than just looking or walking away! You girls are almost adults, you want to be treated like adults then step up and act like adults. Ems works hard keeping her room clean, you need to clean up after yourself. And as far as me accusing you of stealing, no body said steal.. I asked if someone took the a paper, if my eyes landed on you that's where I looked nothing more. Now what would you like to say?" "Nothing" NO surprise there! If I had any sense I would have told them to pack their freaking bags and drove them to Madison, but wasn't up to a country road drive at 10:00 at night.... thank god they leave tomorrow! If DH wouldn't have been so stressed last night about the MRI I would have insisted they go.

Anyway... watered what I could around here this morning to try to keep stuff from wilting, so far so good, except for the tomatoes which have something going on... little sap sucking flies ... have never grown them in pots before or without companion plants so I have no idea what I'm dealing with.
idunno.gif

Tired of being stuck in the house... would love to be out cleaning up around the coop area and even doing something on it, but not in this heat. Have to go to VA again tomorrow... he has 2 drs. appts, then he's heading to chicago w/kids, since their flight leaves EARLY Fri a.m.

Dornes, sorry you lost out on the farm.

Amy your kittens are adorable!!!

BigZ can't believe there is someplace in WI that's too wet right now! Thinking I just moved to the next dust bowl it's so dang dry here.

Well off to put my feet up for a few minutes before the grumpy drugged up bear emerges! Laters all
Deb

Good hot afternoon! Amyable you make me laugh....OUTSIDE cats? What are those? I keep mine in because as you can see from your pics...they are way too cute to get hit by cars!!!! OMG--now I want a kitten...and I just made a deal with myself (after they knocked my ceramic canister of kitchen tools down) that I would get NO MORE cats after these are gone...probably gonna be a while though, the youngest is only a few years old and I have 10 to go through...
th.gif

Jim, you make some interesting observations in the middle of the night! Speaking of middle of the night; I woke when that gigantic crack of thunder happened last night! My heart didnt slow down for 10 minutes. THe girls all met me in the hallway cause it woke us all and then we had to pee....TMI--I know! The light show was really something though! I just talked to one of my clients and she said, "did it rain?" She said she heard NOTHING. I guess after she takes out her hearing aides so really doesnt hear at all!
THe baby guineas were moved into their larger pen this morning. It was funny to watch them run and flutter around! They are getting their big bird plumage now. Still striped on the head though...just talked to Jerry. Amyable he wants your number...I will PM you his too cause he wants to get a couple of trios of cochins "if your price is reasonable." LOL! THen when we meet we can do a really big exchange.
I am so jealous that you guys have Zucchini and pickles already! Today I did a saute of eggplant, potato, onion, tomato, basil, cilantro and garlic over a bed of lettuces drizzled with hazelnut vinagrette. Yep--I licked the plate when I was done!
DD just called--she forgot to put the horses out before she left for work...guess I better go out and do that...gotta find out if I need to walk the yellow lab today too. I would think she would cancel again...gotta be the hottest day yet!
Have a fantastic day....Terri O
(PS) the trophies are going in the chicken coop for the birds to enjoy!

Awwwww, Amy, they are precious!!!!!!!!!!! I just love kittens!
love.gif
And they do have a way of accumulating, I know.
lol.png
I am so happy to hear you made room for more, but they are way too sweet to be living outside. Having more than one kitten growing up together is alot of fun, and they stay so close (snuggly) to each other even as adults. I have 3 boys from the same litter and they are always sleeping & cuddling together all the time. Well, not on a day like today, but.......

That Ash is going to be a beautiful adult. I just love his coloring.

Holy smokies, Bigz, you aren't kidding about it being brutal out there. I keep running out by the critters every hour to give them ice & check on them. So far, so good. They don't look too bad, thank goodness. At least there is more of a breeze today, albeit a hot one, but it's better than a sauna of still air.

And you won't hear me griping, much, about the lack of rain. We finally got some!!!!!!!
celebrate.gif

FT, thank you for checking in! This isn't exactly road trip weather. What if you broke down, like Dornes did? (Sorry to hear that, & the farm) And I'm sure that water will come in very handy for the next power outage. I don't think I could ever have enough of that laying around just in case. Our power was out a few Mondays back for quite a few hours. Not fun!

FM, glad you didn't have any damage.

DrH, you better be careful! And you'll have to let me know if you come visit Cind. I'm not far from her.

Deb,
bow.gif
It's about time you let them have it! Those 2 little snots would have been out my door the first day. I have absolutely no use for anyone else's attitudes, especially from a kid. If I ever even thought of addressing an adult in such a fashion or ignored them, my parents would have beaten me within an inch of my life. And I have never once felt like I was abused, traumatized or whatever they call it these days.
