Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

finally, it's Miller time.. !!!

all the birds locked up and Mom's in bed.. the mama duck put her babies into the guinea pen for the night.. good choice for a secure place..

I remowed some of the tall grass today.. I went back and forth and just blew the dry grass into windrows.. It was too much for the blades.. the dry grass wrapped around the bearings on the blades and snubbed the belt.. tomorrow I will have to dig that grass "rope" out of the blades..

we had a nice rain awhile ago.. I think it is going to rain some more.. One good thing about these afternoon rains, the guineas all go into their coop instead of up into the pine tree..

the new tv works real nice.. we are not going to get hi def bcause it doesn't need it.. the picture is clear enough as it is..

thanks Gaelio for checking on the peafowl.. maybe something good will come of it.. I could not get in touch with that peafowl farm.. my emails do not go through.. I will have to check to see if I was using the same address as you posted..

that sure was stupid about the packer ID thing.. Where did common sense go? He is a member of a team, and all they would have to do is compare his face to what ,,,10,000 pictures of him? and I am sure there were enough people there who could have vouched for his identity.. security is one thing, and stupidity is another.. and stupidity goes both ways.. If I were going to the white house and knew that I needed an ID to get in, I would have it taped to my chest..

Miller is about gone,, might have to get a refill..

Well I got some text messages from Dornes, she is getting a peachick from the person in Marshall, I am picking it up and bringing it up to her, probably next week.

Today was DH's Bday so we went to Half price books, then for middle eastern dinner, then home for the thunder storm.
Picked up a bakers rack for 20 dollars so now have more storage in the kitchen and the microwave will be above our waists for the first time in years.
I love garage sales.
I now have a cuckoo maran on the eggs that the Jaerhon hen started, the Jaerhon took the 1st nest box from the buff lace polish hen, those eggs are now
being sat on by my other bantam cochin AND the gold lace frizzle polish bantam....
So the Jaerhon started a new bunch of eggs, i stuck some in the box when she popped out... Hurley's cuckoo hen she gave me "Lulu or Floopsie" i can't remember which one is which...
SHE took that nest box and its eggs.. so now the Jaerhon is on her third nest, and its the last nest box that WAS left open...I have one that is separate from those and hope the remaining hens use them...
I have been marking the eggs.. but don't think they will let me go checking them on a daily basis, the jaerhons are a squirrely bunch.

Laters all
Carol

Head hurts and tired!

Is it a pied peachick? This sounds like the same person we picked the white one up from, if so Dornes will have the sibling to ours! The first day we had ours the kids and DH said they heard a sound similar to what we heard on utube of the adult noise- they think we have a boy..... anyone have any ideas on that? We have been holding our everyday for a while since we picked it up, DH has to help get it out of the crate as it is very much a "Wild Thing" maybe that should be it's name- have to see what the kids think!

Carol sounds like you will have some babies if all those sitting on eggs stick to it and hatch some out for you!!!

on the wet side here this am, DS(9) went to stay by his aunt(my sister) last night as she invited him for an overnight at her place- she is hoping to take him paddle boating today, so we hope the rain clears up

Yepper that is the one! How awesome is that? When I was flipping through CL and saw the pictures I thought that white one looked almost identical to the photo you posted. But then again... all white peafowl look the same don't they? Apparently this ones name is Rascal... I don't want to know why. I already paid for it! Ha!

I am horrible at city driving and making the trek on the interstate through Madison would surely put me through the roof. So I thought I would kindly ask Carol and reimburse her for gas because it would save me a stroke mid way there... lol. And then we can meet in Baraboo after she picks it up. And she kindly obliged. Thank you SO SO SO much Carol, and hope your DH had a wonderful birthday! Sounds like you made the most out of it!

What is a Thunder shirt??

Jim - that miller went down nice and fast huh?

Well off to a wedding - later all!

from what I have read online and what our vet told us about it and now actually seening it, it is light weight fabric with velcro strips that goes over the dogs back almost like an apron and the straps go under the belly and around the chest applying pressure so the dog feels like it is being hugged. If you do a search for thundershirt on line it will bring up information.

Ohhhh!!!!! I just went to get the turner out of the incubator and set the eggs for lock down and what do I see and hear? One egg is pipped and it is peeping

WOOT - here's to hoping they all hatch! First time hatching so I am pretty excited!

Going to have to keep hubby on chick watch (and not that of the human kind - LOL) today so he can get it out of there and into the brooder as soon as it dries off. How neat! I wish I would be home to see it zip.

Ha ha, Dornes, I laughed at putting your husband on chick watch.

Cute.
Good luck with the chicks!
I love the idea of a thunder shirt. Being hugged is always good. I think I'll get one for myself to wear all the time.
