good afternoon, in a little while we are going to my 50th highschool class reunion.. they are having supper at 7:00.. menu: probably Geritol and Exlax..

the neighbors picked up 11 barred rock pullets..I found that I really have too many roosters of that breed.. in a week or two it will be time to plug in the plucker.. If we still have too many Royal Palm toms by then, they will be going, too..

we now have 16 quail babies.. #15 is not like all the rest, he is golden .
You Coturnix people, ever have a gold colored one ??

there were 50 eggs in this first batch of eggs.. I didn't expect a great hatch, being the very first eggs layed by the new flock..
maybe I will boil up the ones that didn't hatch and pickle them and bring them to the bash next summer..

the lady who just bought the chickens suffers from donkey/mule math .. she started out with two, and now has 20..
It will be interesting to see what she has for chickens in a year or so.. LOL

Donkey/mule math! Funny! I told my husband today I was getting in ground fencing and another dog. He said no to the dog. Fine, then I want a mule. He agreed! I've had my eye on one on Craigslist. I just need to scrape together $1000 to buy it.

Bummer! I'm very sad, my little bantam frizzle/silkie is morphing into a ROO!!!

DANG! It's my favorite chicken that hatched in my incubator this Spring. He's only one of 3 that hatched that I kept and he's my only frizzle. He's my favorite because he's so beautiful, little and really sweet. Heard and saw it crowing yesterday but was trying to convince myself it was a female impersonating a male since we don't have any roosters. Well, wishful thinking on my part. Heard it crowing again today and picked it up to feel for spurs - didn't feel any the first time, so tried to feel for spurs again and found them the 2nd time.

Guess I'll try to sell him on Craigslist or maybe barter for some blackberries. It's going to be really hard to let him go....

Well I do sympathize with company other than family coming. It makes you want to stop everything and clean. Be realistic and figure if there house is spotless they are boring people

Elaine so sorry to hear that your special friend is a roo. Jim good to hear your cutting back.

BBP so sorry for you loss. That closed in run can't come to soon for you. We have pumpkins and squash left in the garden and that's it. It's a lot of work but sad to see the season come to an end. What a beautiful day today and sounds like the weekend will be too.
WOW those Packers sure keep us on the edge of our seats. Green Bay sure was buzzing yesterday. Should be a good season if yesterdays game was an example of what's to come.

Well I finally finished reading! I was surprised that afer a day I didnt have mORE to read...I blame it on all the ball games on TV lately! I was really hoping to hear something from BigZ...at least from Suzie...I hope everything went well...I am sure it did but C'mon--we want news!!!
I read several posts to DH about the seatbelts...didnt think it was funny; and the clean house...he didnt think that was humorous either! Geez--give me a break hey? I guess he prefers tasteless jokes......
Today I had 3 more quail hatch--I think I have 19 in the chick TV now...they are sooo adorable. OK--the other day I said I needed to post some pics. Here they are:

THe Morgan is the one that is for sale. The lady that came to look at her rode her and thought that she was just too much horse for the little girl that was getting her first horse. (she is only 10) It sounded like a great home for her though....oh well, the right person will come eventually....until then she is here for my friends to ride!

I am cooking wild grapes down to make jelly tomorrow...I still need to make that batch of stewed tomatoes too...I ended up giving all the picked tom's to a woman that came over to see the quail tonight...no matter--lots more to pick in the garden!

Oh my it's going to be just torture to give this one up. Man, not looking forward to this AT ALL. I moved him to our garage in a covered cage so hopefully he won't disturb the neighbors in the morning. Crud!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm guessing giving him up sooner will be better than later, toyed with making him a house chicken but I just can't do that to him. He deserves a good life and he won't have one if I keep him indoors.

TO, that's hysterical that you named that hen after me. I've never had a hen named after me before. Pretty funny. Those burrs in the horse's mane were incredible! Wow, they really cleaned up nicely. You have a lot more patience then I ever would - but I guess that's just part of horse ownership, huh? Good job!!

I just got home from my son's varsity football game. I'm hoarse and exhausted. Man, I think I'm getting too old for some of this stuff. Very suspenseful, nerve racking game. (They were down 20 to 6 at halftime but rallied back and the game ended 38 to 21. That's been their highest scoring game to date. They've really been getting whupped, poor kids!!) Two suspenseful games two days in a row is a bit much for me I guess(Packers yesterday.) I could feel my blood pressure really raising up and tightening in my chest at tonight's game -- guess I better start taking that new BP medicine they gave me and quit horsing around with it. The last BP med didn't sit well with me and I was soooo tired, would wake up really tired with some other side effects, too. I've enjoyed being off it for a few weeks now and didn't want to start the new one up -- but tonight's game has been a clear indication that I shouldn't procrastinate here. (Had my BP checked early this week and it was fine, BTW, so I'm not being totally reckless. I'm just on a lot of meds and I'd rather be on less than more.) Oh yeah, get this, even the SECURITY GUARD was younger than me, he mentioned he was an old 48 -- ha ha. Didn't have the heart to tell him I was older!

Anyone else noticing how YOUNG everyone looks in ads these days????? Geez, seems like just yesterday I was a young girl studying catalogs and being envious of the mature (teenage) models and now in a blink of an eye they are all super young - just wee babes! Whoa, time really flies.

Yep, I am another one of those women that you better not stop by my house on a whim - I won't even open the door if I didn't know you were coming.

I don't like surprises, especially surprise company!

Here is a pic. of that caterpillar... I think it might be from an Imperial Moth ... maybe a Luna Moth. It's about 4" when it stretches out.
