Well start posting! We cant let FT do it all! LOL! Yeah FT--I joined the "chickens anonymous" thread...I knew I had a lot of birds but I thought nearer to Jim's amounts than what I really do have! Yeah...I have to pare down for sure! Either that or I have to start feeding my male birds of all types some kind of contraceptive so the girls stop coming out with babies! At least all you have to do Jim is keep your incubator unplugged!

I am going to bed...nighties! TErri O

Ok so I learned you dont plan kids shots the day before their first soccer game... sick and sore legged kiddo. He was miserable and it was cold and wet so not a winner for the first day although my daughter did fine. But boy child gets everything worse than she does. oh well, so we got some nice nap time in!! Cleaned out my coop and tried to make some housing for the bantams that think they dont want to go in the coop when it gets cold. Think they might change their mind here soon. But have some protected places for them built.

So carol... what did you get? Inquiring minds want to know!!!

Sometimes I forget that a large percentage of Craigslist people don't have a clue about animals or anything else. I have an ad right now titled "6 week old cockerels - $2". So a guy emails today and says he wants to come see them and he wants to know how many are left. I email back that I have 8 roosters and they are Iowa Blue mixes. He responds back that he doesn't need any roosters. I had to explain that a cockerel is a young rooster.
I actually sold 5 hens this morning to a BYC member. It was kind of fun having her stop over. I think her daughter really enjoyed my call ducks.

O My Gosh TO!!!! what the Hay???? Birds in the trees? lol Now I dont feel so bad.

H @ R the light brown bantam leghorns is one of my favorite breeds. I have a few. The large onnes too. They are just soooo pretty and they lay well and I love to watch them range they are so comical.

One of my white bantam leghorns has been brooding and last night she hatched her brood. I went to check on her this morning and the babies were away from her, cold. 7 babies. I grabbed them up and took them in the house and put them in a brooder. She had eaten the eyes out of three of them and they were dead. @2 more got their eyes pecked pretty bad, one of those will have only one eye if it makes it. And the 2 remaining chicks were ok. She started out with 12 eggs so am wondering if she ate the whole chick on the rest of them. What a stupid mama.

I threw her off the nest ( didnt hurt her but made me feel better) and with in a few minutes she is sitting in there clucking away. Jeepers!

I'll catch up and post comments when I'm done with my chores but I just took a little break and looked on Face Book. Someone posted a chicken joke and I had to share!....

A farmer went out one day and bought a brand new stud rooster for his chicken coop. The new rooster struts over to the old rooster and says, 'OK old fart, Time for you to retire.' The old rooster replies, 'Come on, surely you cannot handle ALL of these chickens. Look what it has done to me Can't you just let me have the two old hens over in the corner?' The young rooster says, 'Beat it: You are washed up And I am taking over.' The old rooster says, 'I tell you what, young stud. I will race you around the farmhouse. Whoever wins gets the exclusive domain over the entire chicken coop.' The young rooster laughs. 'You know you don't stand a chance, old man. So, just to be fair, I will give you a head start.' The old rooster takes off running. About 15 seconds later the young rooster takes off running after him. They round the front porch of the farmhouse and the young rooster has closed the gap. He is only about 5 feet behind the old rooster and gaining fast! The farmer, meanwhile, is sitting in his usual spot on the front porch when he sees the roosters running by. The Old Rooster is squawking And running as hard as he can. The Farmer grabs his shotgun and - BOOM - he blows the young rooster to bits. The farmer sadly shakes his head and says, 'Nuts..... Third Queer rooster I bought this month.' Moral of this Story? .... Don't mess with the OLD FARTS - Age, skill, wisdom, and a little treachery Always overcome youth and arrogance! OLD DUDES..

Well.... that's a deep question.. get it- wwwwweelllll
Okay I got some freebies along with my purchases...
I got 6 partridge cochin bantams from H&R's DS.
3 various age frizzle black bantam cochins, 2 various age normal black bantam cochins
2 silkie chicks, a white silkie hen(probably), a cuckoo/splash rooster with a cuckoo silkie hen
a blue bantam cochin to replace Bert, and a frizzle gold lace bantam rooster.
I think thats all but I will need to go and count..
It may be 17?
Some I am going to grow for resale, some are for breeding and YES I am going to get an incubator!!
And some are to create pairs for either breeding OR to sell.

They are all in a QT stall at the end of the barn.
I think H&R's DD, and DSs' think I am a true clown or a riot.. I had her youngest DS in stitches most of the ride home, he wanted McDonalds soooo bad, and I asked him he wanted cheddar cheese with his whine... did jokes about french fry vampires and mcbologna sandwiches!!
Her older son is the one who got the bantam leghorns, and one of the hens laid an egg on the way home...
all in all a great day a lot of fun and I have pics, but need to get them online.
Have a great night
Carol
