thank you FT for posting them..

I put the lowest one toward the wall and went higher with the next one so that I could shovel underneath them without removing them.. and yes, the turkeys and chickens use both levels.. they have no trouble getting on or off..

and another plus I just found out.. when catching birds, they cannot hide away from me under the roosts..

FT, BFF is best friend forever, I think........

That soup sounds delish! I cut & pasted all the directions & tips from everyone to try at a future time. Too nice out for soup, thankfully.

I sure hope your mouth pain goes away quickly. I agree that is no picnic. Any pain anywhere in your head is a major bad time.

Elaine, that is a new trick the dentists seem to be pulling these days. They tried that one on me this spring after doing it to my DH (and boy, was I ever POed when he told me they did that to him). They will grind down a tooth that has a deep cavity & fill it, then put a cap or crown on it. Then when the tooth decay gets worse, they will pop the crown off it, give you a root canal to kill the nerve, and then put a new crown on it because the first one won't fit anymore. So they get double their money out of one stinking tooth. I had one of my furthest back molars have a previous moderately deep filling & was now chipped. My dentist told me he was going to grind it down & put a crown on it. I told him not unless he was doing a root canal first. His eyes got kinda bugged out, then he told me I might not need a root canal. I told him there was no way he was putting a crown on it unless I got a root canal first. After he did some x-rays & exams, he said it looked like a RC was the way to go after all. Yeah right. I love my dentist, I really think he is a nice guy, but he must be feeling the pinch of not many people coming in anymore because they can't afford it. Plus he has a new young dentist working for him now that must be teaching him some new tactics that they taught in college. Is there something wrong with being honest nowadays? I do realize once you get a RC, the tooth is essentially dead, but I got 2 root canals & crowns (at the same time) when I was 15ish, and I still have them, and have never had any problems with them ever. And yes, that was a very long time ago!

Cind, I am so relieved to hear your cat has returned safe & sound. Cats aren't always so thrilled about change, I know.

I'm just glad she is ok.

Bigz, so glad to hear from you! Peepers doing better, I'm assuming?

Nice pics, Jim. I know you mentioned it before, but how far off the ground are your roosts? They look kinda low in the pic, but it might just be the angle.
hu.gif
And as for the beer bottle, c'mon, you must remember those little ones they used to have. Don't know what good they were, but....

Just grab some feathers out of your, ummm, well, you know where you keep them!

DH has been home the past 2 days so we've been doing projects around here. Doesn't leave much time to read or chat.....

But things are getting accomplished, so that is a plus. The weather sure helps too. Too bad he is an early bird and me, well, not so much. Whoops! Past my bed time! Schmidt. Sweet dreams, all!

Hi

Bl4 .... After I posted and was snuggled in bed I was thinking about that post and remembered the "Trash the Dress" thing..
hide.gif
Still very cool and would make an interesting wedding album! Can't wait to see the ones with the "grooms"

FT... Clove oil is good stuff! Hope you feel better soon... and keep you tongue out of it!

BigZ... Glad your back on your own! Tell Suzie well still want to hear from her now and then too!
wink.png
Yep, I like your mini beer bottle too! LOL What kind of potatoes are those?

Jim... Nice to see some pics from you! Even if they are "second hand" LOL I could post some for you too but I don''t have unlimited space like FT dose.
hmm.png

I tried to get a good picture of Lilly's molt.... I think she was too embarrassed and kept turning around.... this was the best I got.... she looks like she took a couple 'a spins in Jim's plucker!

When she stretches out she looks real bad! She's kinda' compacted here.

Well, a few things to do and then bed. Got that anniversary dinner tomorrow... not thrilled about it, but gives Hubby brownie points from the bosses! He's hanging on the outer edge of the inner circle so I guess being invited is a good thing.

I just don't like "dressing up" and small talk like that.

Oh well, night!

Good morning my friends! Everyone must be sleeping in today! I am just having mu usual popcorn and coffee breakfast.....

I love it!

So when I rode last night the darn horse stepped on my foot as I was getting ready and I do believe he broke my little toe! It is a nice shade of purplish-red and VERY sore! Wish they made riding boots with steel toes in them! Although, when I had steel toed muck boots the other horse stepped on the toe and then rolled his foot off it toward my ankle so he really bruised the top of my foot! Man, you would think with 4 feet of their own they could stay off mine!

DH is finally out of bed. He was at the hockey game last night with the girls (ours) LOL--and then was watching TV when he got home...I should tell him to wash windows and put on weather stripping today....
gig.gif
...he USED to help...about 20 years ago! TOday is the Bark, Scoot and Boogie event...I sure hope that horse behaves and Carol gets done with her training in time to join me! It should be a fun time!

Another gorgeous day today! Wonder if I will get anything done around here? I keep saying that I have to get those planats in but something else always comes up! I think I wouldnt mind doing what another person did...set them out of a table with a FREE HOUSEPLANTS sign on them! They get so big when they are outside all summer and my house seems to get smaller! Taking over DSs room this time...IF I can get them up the steps!

Well, it's "bleach waterers day" again...guess I need to get on outside and get to it...Brent, I thank you every day when I refill those easy-clean waterers! They hardly even need any cleaning at the end of the week--I LOVE them! Oh, I was going to ask you; since you have had them over the winter, how do they do on an electric warmer? I made several with cookie tins with a lightbulb inside and they worked great with my other plastic ones...any experience to share?

Remember when I said I thought I got 2 blue eggs out of that Wheaton Am last week? I think the goldish turken is laying blue eggs! She was in the box squatting when I went out there and I reached under her and there was a HOT blue egg! Still damp like it was just layed...I am wondering....

Popcorn's done and the coffee is weak...only had just over 2 scoops left to make it this morning...guess I am going to have to go grocery shopping....
Have a fantastic day! Terri O

good morning, I thought I would give everybody a chance to post before I got here.. You all do know that it is OK to post before me, right ?

TerriO, I remember one time when i was a kid wearing those old fashioned tennies.. nothing but a rubber sole with a cloth top. a horse stepped on my foot, but I quikly curled my toes under.. he missed my toes, but I was pinned to the ground,, LOL

we had a Tenn walker , Billy, one time I put a cob of corn in my pocket with about 2 inches sticking out.. I thought it would be neat if he pulled that cob out.. well he did grab it,, but he also grabbed a piece of the pocket.. he gave a jerk, lifted me llike a rag doll and shook me twice up and down until the pocket ripped loose from my pants.. I weighed about 115 pounds at that time.. up until then, I never thought that skinny horse could pull a mouthful of grass loose...LOL

have you ever been bitten by a horse ? I got bit on my theigh once.. i can still put my finger on the spot where the 2 inch long blood blister was.. LOL

Just to keep the wierd parallel world going between us.. I jammed a toe yesterday,, it hurts llike heII.. I don't think it is broken though..

I am going to a neighbor's auction today.. don't really need anything, but I get to visit with all the other neighbors without a bride and groom in the crowd, or a body being in a casket..

all 4 of the peafowl are on the patio looking at the door.. the outside of the glass is shiney, like a mirror,,.. they are such vain creatures.. LOL

sometime between 1:30AM and 10, the light in the TV went out .. the quails are all chilled and listless.. I turned the light
back on, and they are perking up a bit.. I hope none of them die..
it is cool , but not cold in the basement.. but they are only 3 days old..

ETA: 1:45PM dear diary, the quail all revived.. I am back from the auction.. did not see the pressure washer I was looking to buy. I did buy a two light halogen shop light on a stand for $3.oo.. Everything was going very cheap..

Another beautiful Afternoon To All... yep slowly but surely the eyes are starting to see again. A long way to go yet, but better than before. Thanks for the kind words sent my way CC and FT!

Cind those spuds are red pontiacs....I also grew russets and yucon golds. All 3 varieties did well this year. We shelled a bunch more beans. I'll take a pick when we have them finished shelling. I wonder how they shelled them back in the cowboy days? Sure takes awhile to get a big bag full.

The waterers should be ok if your bulbs aren't to hot TO. The plastic seems to be pretty heavy. I use a 12x12 ceramic tile on the LG heater base to keep the pail off the direct metal base. Those prolly get warmer and need something to simmer down the temp some. Sure hate to melt ahole, eh!

Nice pics BL4....Suzie hasen't tried your soap yet. She is frugally using some other o-made stuff she has, but we will report when she lathers one up!

Hi this is SIS .... brent wanted me to post that we dug a 5 gallon pail of carrots today ...I stood in the kitchen today helping shelling beans an peeling carrots.... having a few... while dd27 watched. She hauled a bunch of stuff to her house but you can't tell. sigh
Brent's getting the weber ready for v burgers and ho-made buns with cooked tomatoes and onions and parmo romo cheese. Baked dd 34 2 more punkin pies and will make her some more beer bread tomorrow early to take back for school. Plus she wants a couple more jars of salsa.... and prolly more eggs
big_smile.png

When we get done eating we'll be freezing carrots. Even tho' I don't feel like it.

Oh and by the way BL4..that dress is just beautifil!!!!!

Evening all, nice and sunny here today- spent the whole day outside, DH power washed the area under our deck so that we could start working on getting the aviary built. As DH worked on that, the kids and I worked on staining the wall and deck railing parts-should have done this a couple of years ago but it is starting to look pretty good again. Friends of ours stopped over and stayed to help us for a couple of hours-so DH had an extra helper and so did I. DH built panels and put them together to enclose the 2 sides that were open.

Hoping that tomorrow morning we will be able to finish closing up some small openings and get the peachicks and pair of Red Golden pheasants moved into it. We have a birthday party mid afternoon and a 4-H meeting later tomorrow so we will be racing the clock. Guess the kids and I should look over the enrollment forms and see if it is all good

Received an email from MLH and she is out in CA dealing with her horse and a few other items.

I'm still working in Sheboygan.
DH is still working in Sussex, between 60-65 hours a week (we both thought for sure he'd only be 40 by now. oh well)
We decided to put our house up for sale this coming spring
DS#2 is HUGE. Hes almost 6 months now and hes in 12 month clothing. We call him gigantor, or hippo. Lovingly of course.
DS#1 is good

been canning like i've wanted too. Canned 28 pints of green beans, 5 quarts chicken stock, 5 quarts pasta sauce, 4 pints pasta sauce, 9 1/2 pints strawberry lemonade jam. Got at least 15 lbs of sour cherries to do something with, 1/2 bushel of pears (want to do pears in light syrup with these), at least 40 red bell peppers (making soup and also canning some roasted), got 10ish hot banana peppers to pickle up too.

Now i'm falling asleep at the compu so off to bed! Maybe i'll get to check in tmw! ciao! <3
