Yes FT--use the half and half to add to the soup after you boil the stuff in water. You wont want to boil the half and half or it might "crack." Till tastes OK but looks not so good! Terri O
(PS) it is a friend of my dd19 that is having the baby...not in our family! Ready to be a granny but my girls and boy are NOT!

ETA: If you have a dry socket get back to the dentist pronto!

I have an appointment for Monday afternoon. In the mean time DH is picking me up some oil of cloves. They told me to go to the ER if it gets real bad. Going to take a pain pill now. Told DH to pick up whatever he wants for supper. Soup will have to wait til tomorrow. I have to tend t silkies tonight so maybe I'll feel better to make the soup later. Wanna back some more zuchinni bread and banana bread too. Bought some more loaf pans.
Have tons and tons of apples on the ground. !!!!

Thanks for the help on the recipe. Would you brown the sausage more or would you just cut it up as is (precooked) before you add it to the soup?

Oh and for the umteenth time what does BFF stand for. Boyfriends father, best friends father, best friends fiance, ?????? You guys are driving me nuts !!! Oh and you too Dr Ha, don't you use BFF and you too Jim !!

FrenchToast, so sorry to hear of the dry socket! Ouch! Ya, I hate mouth pain, too. No more crowns from the dentist I currently have. The last two crowns have had to have root canals AFTER the crowning so I'm convinced she doesn't know how much to grind away and ends up doing too much. The one prior to that I ended up just having pulled (molar next to wisdom tooth spot) - just tired of years of nerve pain, etc., and even after crowning still had problems. She's tried to convince me to get a tooth implant -- yeah, right. I'm not paying thousands out of pocket for it. If she wanted to GIVE/GIFT it to me, that'd be a different matter.

Re: sausage, I would cook it up before adding to the soup. This way you don't incorporate too much sausage fat in the soup.

Interesting question about cooking potatoes in water or chicken stock..... Is it home made stock? Sometimes premade is just too salty.
If this was my soup, I'd boil the potatoes up in water so that I could dump the starchy water. Then I'd slice/dice the potatoes up and add them at the end so that the soup just heats the potatoes up rather than risking over cooking them and having them turn to mush.

Your soup sounds delicious by the way. Makes me look forward to Fall weather again. Too darn hot for me!

Jim, how'd your pear butter turn out?

Good Fish Fry Friday All.... yep the outside cooker is rockin and the fish and frys are fryin! What a beautiful late afternoon to enjoy the outdoors. I love Friday Fish! I saved a Nilla coke for my cocktail tonight....yum yum!

It reminds me of when we were younger. Grimm"s steak house. A small family cafe would serve fresh cut frys heaped on a big heavy cardboad plate with tarter sauce for .25. If you wanted fish it was an extra .50.....fish frys for .75 and you could barely eat it all.

The blue ones are slow here too! We have some blue eggs in every doz, however they all aren't laying. One blue pullet just loves Suzies bare toes....pretty funny to watch her dance around telling her to knock it off. They don't bother me

Thanks for sharing all the great pics...
The spuds did really well here again this year. harvest was 10/1 ratio again with 35lbs of seed planted and over 350lbs dug! Must be the new ground they were planted on the last 2 years. Wish i had more fresh ground for next year. really don't want to start another new garden.

This was one of the peppers that finally showed up when we were pulling the plants. Kinda surprise really!

Later All....bigz

So glad to see ya on here again !!

Elaine, sounds like you need a new dentist that is for sure !!! I thought they always did a root canal before they put on a crown or not always??? Geez !!!
I don't envy your tooth adventures that is for sure.
Does anybody remember that movie with Dustin Hoffman that was tortured by the dentist drill? And they put a piece of glass in his mouth as wid as his mouth and then slapped him on the cheeks ???? Every time I go to the dentist I think of that movie but can't remember the name of it off hand !!! OUCH !!

I think if my tonuge would leave that hole in my mouth alone things would be better, seems like it has a mind of its own !!

The guy will take $200 for the truck cap but just found out it has one window replaced with plexiglass, think the back one. Don't know if I wanna buy it??? Pictures don't look that bad. Can't figure out what a good price is for a used topper. You see them on the side of the road anywhere from Cheap to hundreds of dollars.
They guy said this is a cheaper model.

Ok, I think I need to explain a few things.

1st: That is NOT my wedding dress, mine is pathetic. I picked that beautiful dress up at the Oshkosh Goodwill for $30. I found my sister's at the Goodwill in Grand Chute for $25.

2nd: This was done 'just for fun'. I wanted some beautiful photographs and I have a good friend who is dabbling in photography so I gave him a call. Apparently this is becoming some kind of fad. If you do a Google search of 'Trash the Dress' images, you can get an idea of what we did.

We are trying to find out how much that dress I am in cost new. Even after all the wading around in the water, sitting on rocks and stumps, and climbing trees I did very little damage to the dress! I was completely shocked when I washed them out in the tub how clean they became, and that they were in such good shape! (We are going to do another shoot on Sunday WITH our hubbys......

)

TO, when the dresses were still dirty my sister suggested I take them to a dry cleaner and see what they said.......

I do not think I will donate them again; I love beautiful things and I never had a 'princess' dress.

good evening. the new peahens are really smart.. other than learning how to come up onto the deck just before dark, like all the turkeys do., they learned that when I start clapping my hands and sreaming at them like a banshee it is time to go into their coop. they beat the turkeys in.. this was only their second time..

Brent and Sis, where did you ever find that tiny beer bottle ??

FT, I do not have a BFF so I never use that.. Best Friend Forever ?

My dentist said that he could do a root canal after the cap was on, if I needed it.. I still don't need it..

dry socket comes from sticking your tongue into that hole.. You just lick away the healing juices (blood) that is supposed to heal the wound.. FT. read back a few posts,,, I warned you.. and you women say men don't listen..
the pain should go away in a few days..

Elaine, I did not make the pear butter yet.. Annie picked up a vanilla bean for me today.. She convinced me to wait a few days for the pears to ripen a bit and get softer..

pictures.. yes that is snow.. that is one of my uko kei hens.. those were just some samle photos I sent to FT to try...

the blue laced red wyandotte is a recent photo from last week..
He is one of the roosters that a friend brought here for me to butcher.. i substituted a Buff Orp in his place.. that is the rooster who gave me 78 pullets out of 84 eggs set last year..

anyhow, as long as Sandi is willling to forward the photos, I can back up what I say with pictures.. I tried for over a half hour last night to send pictures by any means that I could think of..
when I go through the byc method, at all works until I hit "submit" I guess I don't have the correct mit, abc or blt that they have listed..

.......jiminwisc.......

Here is my email with pictures from Jim

these are the 3 new peafowl.. and a shot of the baby, who looks like a female..

and a shot of the new roosts and how I mount them into the slots on the wall. Note: how the one closest to the wall is the lowest one..

AhhHHH for once I got it !!!! No need to explain, I did my homework and looked up "Trash the Dress" !!! BL4 gotta remember you're talking to a bunch of old farts here mostly!!!
lau.gif

I think it is a great idea. Those dresses should hold up for the price you pay for them !!! Plus if the bride is partying pretty hard at the reception it would be pretty sad to see the dress shredded by the end of the night !!
lau.gif

So are you getting the tucks at Good Will too? That ought to be a bit harder with the leg length etc. I had a great time looking at all the costumes at Good Will the other day !!
Saw a witch hat with purple feathers all around the rim !!!! I was tempted but for one, they have pretty high prices on the Halloween stuff right now and Two, I can just glue some feathers on my own witch hat !!!! Might even add some to my broom as well !!!!
gig.gif

Put a small piece of gauze with oil of cloves in the hole in my mouth. It really does help. I also looked in with a mirror and there is a flap of skin in the inside where my tongue keeps checking, that is sore so hopefully I don't have a dry socket ?????? Whatever it is, it sucks. Not a 10 on the pain scale but enough to piss me off !!!
somad.gif

Jim, I can't remember now why you put the lowest perch by the wall ? Do they even use it? I like the way you put the roosts up. We did something similar in the campers.

Soup in on hold until tomorrow. Alot of things are going to be done tomorrow, and I'll say the same thing tomorrow !!!
lau.gif
DH brought home a pumpkin pie from Walmart !!! YUCK, I"m spoiled, I like mine. Even if it does have the store bought crust !!

Quote:
Its a cream soup so I bought half and half for that. So make the roux and add the half & half?
Nothing diet around here !! Can you tell !! Well actually I have some half and half that is fat free, but adding butter to the recipe voids that out !!

FT I am not really sure how to make a red pepper soup...
BUT when I made home made potato soup, I added the cream or milk after the potatoes got soft and could be mushed...
Hope this helps..

Well I will have training tomorrow, so I will see how it goes. I didn't hear from the trainer person till after 7pm so I was pretty sure I wouldn't hear from him at all..

I should seriously be able to make it to the fundraiser with the pony to help TO.

Nighters
Carol

Forgot to add, I saw this and thought some one could use it.
