Brents tractor sounds like initial fuel problems ,,ie choke.. If it runs good after starting, it wouldn't be ignition, ? Is it still 6 Volt ? It is well worth the effort to change it to 12.. I did that with my Oliver.. I even took the starter to a genious in Schofield and he rebuilt my starter to make it 12 Volt for less than $50.oo...
I feel like you do, it just ain't right to have a non-running tractor.. LOL I'm warning you Brent, don't make us come over there... I wonder if it would pull start ?? DrH, after you drive to Terri's, just keep going on to Brent's.. I'LL meet you there..

Cind, I gave the details about the hens to Sandi.. I would take your roosters, but they would be in freezer camp within a week.
You better give them to somebody who would love them live instead of like them roasted.. LOL

I finished up the 10 gallons of BlBerry wine last night.. I left a lot of room in the top of the carbouy so that it wouldn't foam up through the air locks.. No such luck.. both of them are going nuts and there was wine all over the floor.. But with my good luck, Annie got up early before me, and cleaned up the mess..

I have my tractor sitting with a scoop of granite, just like it was when Sandi was here.. It was so cold and windy yesterday that I just hid inside all day.. If this cold weather keeps up, I will have to get long pants and real shoes on..

Terri, pear glazed pork chops sounds yummy to me. I will have to make a batch of apple butter, (not my mother's recipe) and try that also.. She used too many spices.. I hate spice cake also.
I do like spices, but they shouldn't overwhelm the food..

gotta go clean the qtv.. it is starting to stink..

South side Jim, that thought crossed my mind. One of these days we'll darken your doorstep. When did you say that wine would be done? Ya I could make a big loop and till their garden too. Could turn into a part time job just get on and ride with a sign on the back. Will Till for eggs!

It really really bothers me about Brents tractor if it's that close to running then what's the hold up? Get off your duff Bigz! Wish I was closer!

Just a quick update, my organic harvest of food so far this season is 107lbs!

Way more than I had expected. I had a crappy year!
This if from a 3'x35' bed and a 10'x20' bed.

Pitfalls:
No squash (I planted 2 spag squash)
No cucumbers (I planted 9 plants!!!)
No melons (I planted 3 sugar baby and 3 cantalope)
No fall garden (my fault, so that excluded more carrots, radishes, arugula, spinach, lettuce, sugar snaps and green beans)
No green beans (had two plants)
No sugar snaps (planted 6, 3 came up, ripped all 3 out while weeding. sigh)
No Strawberries (darn chipmunks!)
Every last one of my tomato plants caught blight and I feel like they under produced.

Things not weighed in that total:
Pears - not a bumper crop this year
Strawberries- the few we got to eat go popped in our mouths in the yard
blueberries- too few to weigh
raspberries- same as blueberries
herbs- I would pick them as I need them.
chicken eggs
duck eggs
duck meat (I was going to put in the amount of duck we harvested, and eggs by the dozen. Lost count. We took 3 ducks, at about 5 lbs each. We will be butchering 4 more in a few weeks.)

Once DH's pc is back up and running, I can post exactually what was harvested. My sheet is on that harddrive

Yup,, If you take TT to the right (east) for about 1/2 mile, and then peel off to the left just going up that little hill, my sister lives at the end of that road.. I can't remember the name of the road..

is it just past the Oaks golf course that you can see on the right???? right before the creek bridge??? I think I know what road you are talking about but can't remember the name

we are about 2 miles from there.... if you take Pierceville to the right and than Baxter to the right you just about reached our house.

There, for the first time in a long time I will be able to count my birds lol tonight of course lol had a guy come out this a.m. and right before he came to get 35 birds some one called and wanted 5 hens, so I shorted him 1 bird, lol I miss counted turns out I had 40 birds lol and I kept a silkie mix hen. any who tonight I will find out how many I have.
I had some one with a 414 area code call this a.m. also, I told him to call back this aft. to see if I still have them. Hey TO if this other guy calls back this aft/ do you want me to direct him YOUR way? If so I'll give him your email.
Anyways it also looks like I'll be hatching again next spring, Wasn't going to cause there were NO buyers but these people today BOTH want some next spring. lol one wants silkie/silkie and the other wants RIR(hen)/Silkie(roo) lol nice BIG silkies lol

what else is up? beside FT running amuk all over creation

Next year I will keep tabs on how much feed they eat

and charge accordingly. Funny right?!

oh and where is ALL that money going? should be for feed next year right?!

Mmmmm, Homemade apple crisp, Think I'm gonna make it in a smaller pan next time with the same amount of stuff. lol I like alot of apple. I also like apple crisp better than apple pie

I grew up in town just 2 blocks from the railroad tracks.. One morning Mom went out onto our windowed-in porch and found a hobo sleeping on the couch.. This is back when they actually "rode the rails".. she waited until he woke up and then fed him breakfast and we never saw him again.. Just passing through, I guess..

WHOOO HOOO!!!!! I just got a call from the brother of my neighbor...his friend got a doe tonight and they are bringing it over tomorrow! YEAH! Venzun for the freezer! I am so happy I am delirious....ok well, maybe not delirious but really happy just the same!

Yeah Tiki, we have had that problem a time or two.
Well FT left her place aroud 1 so she should be here around 4 or later.
I went to the swap in Monroe, small turn out, few chickens, even fewer hens...
I got two mostly polish, bantam hens (barnyard type no distinct color) but kinda OEGB in color...
2 call ducks, a pair for TO, and a kewl chocolate white bibbed muscovy hen for TO.
I then hit up the silkie breeder I found and got 3 silkie pullets, two dark blue/black/ partridge and a buff/partridge type.

I will let you all know how things go with FT.
