Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

there is frost on the cars..
I hope the water hoses don't freeze.

Good Frosty Morning All! 28* here. Jim mine has a section of large ventilation pipe on it, heavy duty wire on the bottom so cement blocks are used. No fluid in my rears.
lol.png
Heard the new stuff they use isn't as corrosive as the old stuff. Bigz I've seen a bare tractor go for more and in not as good a shape. Will try and get a pic today, then shrink it down to wallet size.

TO sounds like Jerry has it down. Not a lot of fun doing it by yourself without a plucker. Donny got his Case home yesterday and went over to help him get the last of the bolts in the cab. It was stuck in 2nd gear, turned out to be a cheap fix only a broken retainer pin. Had to run him off a couple of times he always wants to beat on stuff with a big hammer.
roll.png
He's changing the fluids in it today so now maybe he won't be so crabby. Ol Yeller is home. I surveyed his drive, needs a few more loads of granite.
ya.gif
Now have to decide whether to go down there or in the woods. Chickens got the bread yesterday.

It never rose. Maybe not warm enough?

Goodmorning! Had a nice long talk with my friend this AM--she was telling me about her youngest daughter that is due today to have a son. Her husband asked if she had made an appt to go in and get induced....ah, it doesnt quite work that way fella! He is so anxious for "his baby!" Kinda cute I guess....wait until it's born; then they will realize that the baby is the easiest BEFORE it is born! (especially when it gets into it's teens!

Now I need a paper towel for the screen....again you do this to me Jim!

Yes, Jerry and Terry used to butcher professionally. Then Jerry got pigeon lung from being inside with the house birds...he got pneumonia, had a heart attack and ended up on oxygen...that ended the butchering business. They used to grow out TONS of Cornish and sell them per pound...tidy little business but lots of work!
Looks like we may have had the killing frost here last night...the hill across the road is white. I havent been down to the gardens yet to see if they are wilted...the sun is out though and there is a cloudless sky! God day to put plastic on the windows I suppose...laundry too. I also promised my daughter that I would go and get a piece of plexi-glass cut to make her home for her gecko. We want to turn a tank on it's side tall-wise so he cant go up and down...she has big dreams of how it will look (me too!) That is my favorite thing about having odd pets...making little homes for them that are like what they would have in the wild....I wish I had an extra room so I could make a little rain forest for my parrots! now THAT would be fantastic!

THat quail is still on it's side. I took it to the water this morning and it really drank a bunch. It can kind of get up now and then. Maybe my holding it upright helped a bit? I just dont understand how it came on so suddenly? Still waiting for eggs in the cae in the basement...bet the ones outside are pretty chilly today!
I forgot to close in the Blues last night...they were all over the yard this morning and that dam^ JRT got ahold of the white silky roo and took a goodly mouthful of feathers off of it! Here is me running into the yard in my slippers and jammies yelling like a banshee "NO NO NO NO NO!!!! Leave it! GET INTO HOUSE!" I think I need a shock collar for that dog!

Suppose I oughta get going...getting chilly here by the North window...time to crank the radio and get something accomplished! I need to bake bread today for me so we can have BLTs tonight and use up the last of the garden tomatoes...
sad.png
sooooo sad to say that!
DrH--maybe you should proof your yeast before you try to rise it? Seems like you have had troubles in the past with the rising? (oh man, another not so good statement...where in the world is my mind these days?) You guys have done it to me....now I need to watch every word I type!

TO, your comment on taking a picture of Jerry's plucker didn't give my puter screen a bath until you said that that sounded bad, then my coffee ALMOST hit the computer lol
Thanks for the laugh

some times I hate FB, if only my mother wasn't on there. How long do you think it would take her to realize that I removed her from my friends list? (would that be befriended or defriended or what?) lol

Dog for sale FREE! fricken thing eats MY clothes. I'm so sick of finding my clothes all chewed on and ruined, oh and it eats cat sh!t! What a dumb dog! bet I spent more on replacing clothes then I did feeding the dumb thing. ok ok I'm NOT ready to get rid of her YET! but soon!

good morning again, Maybe your quail hurt it's leg TerriO.. my guineas sometimes get their foot caught and then instead of using their head, they lose their head and flop around..

no wonder our neighbors think you are odd. next time try the clothes line.. "God day to put plastic on the windows I suppose...laundry too. "

It might be a bit late for this tidbit of advice: if you have a heavy frost and the sun is not up high yet.. spray your plants with water to get the frost off.. they will not wilt.. only when the sun melts the frost, is when they will wilt...

Yes DrH, even weak yeast can be rejuvenated by pre-proofing.
just puta teaspoonful of sugar into a half cup of warmish water bfore you start mixing your other ingredients.. by the time your stuff is mixed, the yeast will be to the top of the cup.. and add the salt AFTER you add the yeast; like when you are adding more flour.. salt kills yeast.. You prolly knew all this, but I feel better after saying it..

I have to go pick up my used trailer today, it is 7ft 10inches wide and 16 feet long.. built above the tires, so it has no fender pockets inside it.. the wheels are under the flat bed so there are no fenders at all.. the lights are built into the metal frame and the bed is two layers of treated 3/4inch plywood.. 2" ball hitch.. tandem, 15" tires. No tilt bed.. built in crank jack stand..
I have to add post pockets for side rails.. and have to also build some heavy ramps for the tractor..

after I get the trailer, I have to go and pick up the used parrot (quail) cage. 36" diameter and 57 inches tall with wheels..and pull out trays for cleaning..

I am expecting quail eggs to start hatching any day now.. I don't know if these are fertile or not.. Haven't heard any crowing from that pen.. i took 2 beat up quails out of there a few weeks ago, with my luck they were prolly both of the roosters..

missed a comma (,) tandem,

Man it's chilly out there today!!

Well, last day of work in the week for me and then I got the weekend off! I need it! I had a weird set of days off last week (friday and sunday) so I didn't feel fully rested. Me and DH are celebrating our 2 year anniversary this weekend, and the inlaws are coming (UGH!). Naw, I love them but I wish they could have came a different weekend.

Now I gotta get my house organized and stuff so it's not a hot mess when they come over. I tell DH thats why we need a bigger home, so our crap is spread out further and looks less messy!

Oh god, i'm so funny.

Still got apples, red bell peppers, tomatoes and cherries staring at me telling me to process them. Not enough hours! Apples and toms will get done this weekend. Hopefully bells too as they are taking up a LOT of freezer space.

The pig has some good deals this week, coffee, chick breast, red grapes...gotta stock up!

Jim we all screw up and not type whats in our heads so stop pickin on TO! Kinda like when you said the new trailer had tandem tires.
wink.png
Sounds like you got a great deal on that trailer! Just got home from Donny's filled in a little bit in his drive then he told me that he decided to go ahead and fill in a huge hole in front of his barn door. There's only 5-6 yrds left out of the 56 he got. Think it'll be just enough after he packs this down with enough left over for next year. Told him before I started that there wasn't going to be much left he said that's ok I know where to get more. I added besides you've got lots of checks left. Man that granite packs nice! I've got a yard or 2 left in a pile but had to shovel it before and there's a lot of roots in it now. Maybe I should dig that out and add it to the recycled concrete pile. YUP gotta go.

Geez Jim--I had to go back and read what I typed...dont you hang your laundry on the windows? I use a staple gun...the wind never blows it away then!
I have another quail that is spazing out now! This one is outside...one of the parent birds...maybe it is the Mom of the one in the chick TV? It is breathing weird like opening up it's beak and kind of gasping. Then it walks backwards and flutters a bit and flops over on it's side! Very weird to watch...maybe it is dying? The only think different in there is that I gave them some alfalfa hay yesterday to play with...could it have a piece stuck in it? Oh yeah...I mixed the pellets with some rolled corn too...maybe poison corn? I just have no idea...
OK--I have another load of laundry to staple up...this time I am hanging it on the front porch~! Then to the grocery store...Later! Terri O

ETA: thanks for stickin' up for me Doc!

As for the bash, it will be at noon on Oct. 22nd at Korth Park in Lake Mills. It is pretty close to I-94, and has a newer shelter that has a kitchen area. If you go to Google maps, just type in Korth Park, Lake Mills, WI & you can see it.

Here is a writeup of it from the Jefferson Co. website, and the link is below. They have some pics of the shelter. It is the second set of pics, & they should be labeled "Korth Lane Shelter".

Korth Park: 89 Acres
Located in Lake Mills on Rock Lake, Korth Lane E of County Highway S. Korth Park was purchased in 2000 to protect the water quality and fish habitat of Rock Lake. A packed limestone bicycle trail along the shore of Rock Lake connects Cedar Lane to Elm Point Road. A connecting trail to the Glacial Drumlin Trail, just to the south, was completed in 2003 on land purchased by the WIDNR. This trail connection creates a loop path around Rock Lake.
Existing Facilities - 28x40 wooden shelter on Elm Point Road, 3,500 square foot, three-season shelter with kitchen facilities on Korth Lane, packed gravel trail along Rock Lake, restrooms, grills, connecting trail to Glacial Drumlin Trail, shoreline restoration, prairie restoration and tree planting.
