Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Yup! no bout a doubt it it's a weasle. What a day the thermometer went over 60. But I see that a week from tomorrow highs in the 30's lows in the teens. Maybe their lyin. Remember it's still March and we usually get a good dumping of white stuff. Maybe I'll be able to plow it with the new blade. My oldest was home from KS. Vet school for a seminar in Madtown and we all got together at her cousins. Both of my kids and my folks were there. It was so nice to get everyone together. I told my oldest about my plan to have her move back here so I could have my own personal Vet on call 24/7. She thought it was funny, d**n kids! Got the lifting brackets for the blade figured out, after that I need to put a guide on it to hold the blade from kicking it to one side or the other, skid plates, and a piece of angle iron to stiffen it. Then it will be done. Then on to the next project. The first thing I'm going to do after I retire is completely go through the garage and get it organized. I know where things are but it really needs a serious rearrangement. So many cute chick pics on here, congrats to all! fm sorry about the one but as you know it happens. Taz devil L's cat has been telling me it's her milk treat time. I explained the time thing to her but got the no thumbs response. I argued that that didn't make any sense. You just can't win an arguement with a cat. OOOH lined dried clothes! Can't beat a set of sheets on the bed, makes you smile in your sleep. I'm having a real hard time wrapping my head around 6 more weeks. My math skills are starting to leave me. 39 days = 6 weeks? 39/7 = carry the naught. OK 6 times 7 is 42 - the naught. I give up.

Both of the kids came over to see the chickens and the youngest brought her new boyfriend he had a pic on his phone of a friend of his that caught a 34" walleye last weekend on Bay de Noc through the ice. Unfreakin real!!!!!!

Two+ pages of posts every day, boy are we a chatty bunch of Cathy's. I can hardly keep up with everyone.

TerriO, I did hang sheets on the line today, and they smell so good! Gonna hop off to bed and snuggle right in and breathe in that sweet country air all night. Just hafta pay attention to when the farmers are spreading the manure

I'm getting kinda jealous seeing all these beautiful colored chicks that everyone has...need to place my order asap.

I've always wanted to fish Bay De Noc, that is truly the land of the mammouth Walleye.

We got the first weekend with 1 week old chicks under our belts with nary a hitch. I've got one RIR that keep plugging up her vent with poo, but the rest are eating, drinking, napping, pooping machines. They are fun and my brooder setup turned out just fine. Now I've really got to get serious about putting the coop/run together...

One question: How would 5 day old polish do in the same brooder with chicks that are going on two weeks? We've got a chance to pick up a couple on Friday and we only have one brooder. Are we asking for problems?

Well, thank goodness we had a partly sunny and windy weekend, the drive and the backyard have dried out considerably, we can actually navigate the yard now without sinking up to our shins in mud. Nothing like living on the farm. Everyone have fun!

Buck Creek Chickens, thanks for posting pics of those penguins you have.

Those are the most adorable baby chicks I've ever seen.

Especially that one at the back wall.

I moved the lot to their new brooder last night. With te 23 babies, it was getting oftly crowded in there now that some are trying to run and fly. It really was like watching football. One would run from one end of the tote and jump on the whole pile of sleeping babies. Hardly any one could get much sleep. But that tote worked excellent for the first day or two of life.

I'll post pics later.

Buck Creek Chickens are any of them babies Mahogany Fav's. I have been eyeing up a few of them. Did you get them from Sandhill? Very nice chicks!! Here is a pic of some that hatched last weekend for me they are all wyandottes blr, bbs and columbian. Mike
