Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

OK a few comments!!!...I guess I think that you guys must think like I think...HMMM. One way doors...all my ducks etc! It was all my ducks that were for sale!!! Geez--you guys should know that!!!! I couldnt sell ALL the ducks! It sure was a whole lot quieter tonight when I locked up!

BL4--we always serve green and black olives! I thought everyone did? I remember my Grandpa sneaking the black ones to me under the table cause I loved them so much...I vowed that no one would EVER have to say there were not enough olives to go around...we actually had leftovers! My Mom only opened ONE can for about 15 people! No wonder I had to beg for olives! I guess I dont get what the big deal was when we snuck olives off the table as kids...we were not allowed to put them on our fingers either (like my kids loved to do!) I showed dd25 the table pic and she said "It looks empty!" Well...all the dished that were hot were still in the oven!
Too bad about DD anticipating the shot...I hear that is really hard to get over. I think that is why new shooters do so well...they dont know about the bruise they will have for the next week!

Got all cleaned up from dinner and DD came home from volleyball so I had to get out the omelet pan again! Glad she washed the dishes up! Well- I am off to beddies...good night! Terrri O

Hi again, Maybe your DD is not 100% commited to shooting a deer... My oldest missed an easy shot and then announced that she didn't like deer hunting.. My youngest DD never pretended that she liked hunting.. BUT they both had to go at least once, so that they could never say they didn't have the same chance that our DS had.. we were equal oportunity way before it was fashionable..

Your shoulder will not bruise IF you pull the gun in tight to your shoulder.. the bruises come from a recoil starting inches away from the shoulder.. to test this theory, have somebody punch you on the shoulder.. then have someone push on your shoulder as hard as they can.. you might move back, but it won't hurt..

Funny,, when I sold all my ducks a few weeks ago, I didn't have any left..

Oh BTW, CC, were you gone ?

BL4, before you get your Lasik, make sure you ask about the quality of your near vision after the surgery. Depending on what you're starting with, they may only be able to correct your far vision, but not your near. In which case, you'll end up wearing reading glasses.

Otherwise, it's a quick recovery. And I didn't need glasses for many years.

Good luck!

Hmmmm, I guess Jim didn't miss me.

No, I really didn't go anywhere; just MIA for a couple of days. On Sat. DH & I drove up to Sauk City to meet some friends, go for lunch & do a little shopping. Hit a bunch of Badger traffic on the way up & the weather was for crap, but other than that it was a nice time. We hit the Harley outlet & picked up a few things since their prices are a little cheaper.

TO, you know how Jim, FT & I can't resist giving you the business. And each other. Like Jim not even noticing I was gone, for example.

My family always served olives for all the holidays also. But I ate so darn many black ones when I was little that the sight of them makes my stomach churn now. So on my table they're usually on a side table with the snacks. (Not even going to attempt to slaughter the spelling of hors d'ovres).

Shanti! So good to hear from you!

Sunday Night Game ended. Stupid Steelers managed to pull it off. Was hoping KC could pull an upset.

Thanks for the tips and the heads up on changing the fuel filter....I had to laugh Angie. My truck isn't that new. It's a 1988 model. With the price of health insurance, I don't have any money left for a truck payment. The last fuel filter I changed was the old screw in type that went right on the carb.....ahhh the good ol days. Now you even need a special tool...what the heck!

I never got sick on olives. I did get sick on sloe gin though.... thought of that makes me sick!

Glad you stopped by shanti.
My BIL and SIL both had lasik done. I think they are both pleased.

Off to beddy... bigz

Hi all!

Tiki... I lost one of my first hens due to complications from round worm, so I feel for you. Those thing really mess up chickens.

BBP... Nice birds! My cochin roo isn't too bad with the hens yet, but snapped at me a couple of times. People say they are such nice bird too.

MLH... Glad Hubby is OK.

TO... One of my neighbors growing up had thousands of pigeons over the years, and he did race them too. He made his doors (and everything else too!) He made his doors with 4 wood slats I think about 3/4" wide. He used metal straps to mount them on a metal rod with cut tubing as spacers and just a strip of wood on the bottom as a stopper. If you were here I would draw it for you, but seems easy enough. Maybe look on line for plans.

FT... gotta' love those weir dreams!

BL4... Good luck with the eyes!

Kind of a shortened post, but very tired.... night all!

Good Morning All! Cind I get up when your going to bed. Bigz was trying to remember when I changed the filter on one of my F150's. Think I just cut the hose on both sides and had enough left to install the new filter. Or take a piece of thin metal to wrap around the hose and pushed it in the filter to release the spring steel holding the hose on. I hear ya on the sloe gin been there done that! The thought of it still induces the gag reflex. shanti glad to hear from you! bl4 good luck with the surgery! So much more but can't member!

good morning, Brent, I had a F250 and the fuel filter was under the motor on the front .. It screwed on just like an oil filter if I remember right.. had a cartridge in it like an oil filter. I changed it once and it was FULL of sand.. 2 days later I had the same problem of stalling so I pulled the filter again.. FULL of sand.. I changed it again and I guess I must have run out of sand because it lasted for a long time after that.. I also had a fine screen right where the gas line hooked into the carb.. you might want to check there also..

my last old F100 it stalled out on me on the highway.. It had an inline filter just before the carb.
I was a long way from any town so I just punched a screw driver through the filter.. I never did get around to putting a new filter on that one.. It was a six banger, those motors were built for abuse..

I had a friend who was very near sighted .. she had that surgery and never needed glasses afterwards.. must be up to each individual's reaction.. her operation was waaay back a long time ago.. I would think it has had a few tweaks by now to make it even better.. eye surgery is no big deal anymore.. they do so much with lazer, I have had 5 surgeries.. I have $100,ooo eyes and am still going blind.. ironic, eh?

I will be going to F&F today to get some threaded rod.. I have to modify another egg tray for the goose eggs.. I am hatching them laying down instead of up on end... CC< they are laying down, not me..

7&7 was the drink that did me in.. I was in Germany in 1962 and I still can't drink that or even think about it..

I looked on line a bit for those pigeon trap doors .. I did not find any pictures of drawings.. but I am getting a pretty good idea just from listening to peoples' descriptions.. I wonder if a chicken would push through to get into a nest to lay an egg? I was thinking of making the slats out of pvc pipe.. It would be helpful to know which chickens are laying or not .. as Grandma would say, "get rid of the star boarders"...

I am going to try to make some banana pancakes .. there used to be a pastry called a banana flip.. I loved those things.. I haven't seen one for years.. They were sold individually wrapped, right next to the twinkies and hostess cupcakes.. "baked the little ol bakeshop way" remember that jingle ?? I baked bread in a hostess bakery in Rochester , Minn. It always made me laugh when I heard that song.. we shipped semi loads of bread to Illinois, and they sent back semi loads of cupcakes.. the little old bake shop was there alright, but it was set right in front of the 40,ooo sq ft bakery..

Good morning! Jim there is a picture of how to make a nest trap in one of my books. It has a stick that pokes down where the hen's back would be in the nest. The stick holds up a spring type door and as she shuffles around getting comfy she bumps the stick and closes the door! It looked pretty easy to make...I was always gonna do it too...yeah.

So Jim what do you do if you want to make more ducks next year? Buy more breeding stock? Babies? I am working on making ducks that are black on the back and head with bright white wings and under-bodies. The ones that I have now are close...they look really cool when they fly. Their wings shine in the sun! I also am working on a brown version...getting there. I had to sell the really black ones cause I think they were reverting to wild color! They were gorgeous though with iridescent green and purple feathers on their backs...
Cind I just cannot believe how you stay up ALL NIGHT! I makes me tired just to see the times you post! I am definitely asleep (or getting up) at your times!
Shantibirdy...where have you been and what's been going on? Did DS ever get his restaurant back up and running? I was wondering about that...
Funny about the Sloe gin...I remember drinking that at Christmas at my Grandma and Grandpa's...We each got to have one in a really little glass...never had too much though to get sick! That OR black olives!
Guess I better find something to eat; gotta head out for chores and then off to work soon...AAAAck Monday...have a great day! Terri O
