Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Afternoon FT....here is the link to the on-line course. You will have to find out when a class is given in your area. Phone calls to folks in the know in your area would know the most about class dates. they will post them on line. I talked to the instructor in C-ville and they have one in Feb.

I agree that now the law abiding folks will also have guns....not just the crooks. People have to have a good background to qualify for a permit.

We are gonna have Wild Turkey for supper tonight. The house smells wonderful right now. We had T-day at my son's and they can use the leftovers....so....we aren't Turkeyd out like folks that put on the spread.

Thanks Bigz

The other day DH saw about 20 Toms while up in his tree stand, guess a coupld days in a row. I have to master this venison thing first before I eat a wile turkey. Don't they have a wild taste to them?

Oh and while I'm at it (asking questions) I am going to get the deer processed at www.meatskis.com in Pound WI but was wondering if you could give me the name of the place where you got that delicious sausage made that you had at the Bash. Can't remember what you all brought but I'd love to get some of each made !!! YUM !!

Thanks

Hey just a quick response as we are still with visitors from the longest weekend ever. My dd5 was playing rough with her brother on the swingset and fell and caught herself on her one hand- the wrist snapped. She is now styling it with a hot pink cast and is stubborn enough to say she thinks she can do everything she did before, including climbing up the swingset again... I put the kabosh on that one! Oye vey... shortening my life here!

OUCH !!! Remeinds me of years ago a friends son was on a swingset and jumped off landing on his knees, broke the big bone in his thigh, what is that the femur ????

Anyway, he was only about 3 or 4 yrs old. Had to wear a body cast for a long time !!! Poor kid. Plus turns out he had ADHD so being in the cast was alot for him to handle !!! I brought him PlayDo, I'm sure his parents loved that !!!! LOL

I used to like snow, once, when I was a kid.......
I'm glad to hear your DH is ok. Glad he got it checked out. My DH's dad died at 45. Wayyyyyyyyy too young.

FT, you've never made Thanksgiving dinner before? Wow! I'm glad it all turned out good for you. Meatski's! On 64! Funny. DH & I drive past there on our way to the cottage. Have you ever bought veggies from that farm just west of there? I always want to stop & get a bag of their spuds, but we never do.

Sorry to hear about your Jaerhon, Amy, and your roo, Tiki. And your DD, Kris. Ouch! That is a bummer.

Got a little pent-up agression towards that TV of yours, Bigz?

BBP, that silkie pic is so cute, and your roo is stunning.

What a gloomy, wet day again today. No wonder you don't have your get-up-and-go, TO. Me neither.

I so dislike these days.
Glad to hear everyone had a nice holiday. We had a very nice T-day too. Went by my cousin's to watch the game & eat, then went to SIL's for dessert with DH's side. It made for a long day, but it is always nice to get together with family. My cuz sent me & my sis home with the carci & the roaster scrapings for our birds to dine on, so that was nice. The girls had a feast too.
Hmmm, I'm thinking leftover turkey, a glass of wine and snuggling on the couch with DH & the cats will be on the agenda for the evening. Have a great evening, all!

good snowy afternoon..

TerriO, did your duck people show up?

Sandi, I like your comment, "Now they will be armed idiots" those are the ones who scare me the most..

Sandi, there is a butcher shop just as you are driving west out of town from Bowler.. It is on the north side of the road and sets back a couple hundred feet. I don't know the name of it..

I took an incubator tray today and modified it to hold goose eggs on their sides.. I can get 4 across and 7 the long way for a total of 28 eggs.. I have 24 in it already, so I will be making another tray soon, like tomorrow..?

Annie has mentioned a couple of times "where are you going to keep those baby geese?" she doesn't want them in the house.. I told her that I was going to put them in the bottom of her big cockatiel cage..

I stripped off a whole stem of brussel sprouts.. I have a serving bowl about 3/4 full.. they will be for supper if Annie ever gets going at it.. I would start supper, but I don't know what she has planned.. she is not home from the store yet.. I don't know how anybody can spend 3 hours shopping for groceries when all they said they needed was some buttermilk..
..........jiminwisc..........

We have our sausage done at Kropf's meats in Bowler. The Phone is (715) 793- 4675 The sausage I brought to the bash was garlic summer sausage and farmer sausage. Keep in mind they close for lunch from 12 to 1 you prolly know how i know that.

Good to see you back CC. Yep the TV has this annoying buzzing sound and shuts off on it's own. You have to actually push the on button off and turn back on. Suzie isn't a fan of the laughing roo's either!
Wow the age of 45 is just getting a handle on things. Sad for sure.

I've been forgetting to ask. Anyone with the older rangers know where the fuel filter is? Mine has a put put now and again, am thinking the fuel filter is prolly dirty. 172,000 and it's original. Might have a tad of dirt in it, eh?

Waiting for Jennie to arrive for supper. I think wild turkey breast meat is alot like grouse, only way bigger...not a wild taste in my opinion....delicious when slow roasted and falling off the bone. Suzie makes gravy from the drippings too.

Evening all!!

BigZ-sorry to hear about the TV. We just got a new 32" at Sears. Our TV was very old - we won it at trade show we went to years ago! I'm surprised it lasted this long! The sound would "mumble" or "echo" then be ok for a while. The final straw though was when the shows or commercials used a lot of red, out TV looked like Christmas got sick on a roller coaster ride. Dh finally had enough and we got a Samsung. Not too bad. The good thing though, it's a good time of year to get a new TV. Everybody and their brother has them on sale for the Holidays.

CC=don't worry! No dancing for me! I have two left feet....unless two left feet get snow here quicker? Heheheee... When I played that vid of the laughing rooster, my dh said "what is that?" I told him a rooster. He was relieved because he thought the Girls were in trouble and that he was almost about ready to got out the door the check them!
Dh's dad had his first heart attack at 43. Then another one a year later. He changed his life style per doctors orders and that bought him another 10 years. He had another one at 52 and died. He was hunting on one of the Channel Islands in Cali when he had the HA. Sadly, Help was to far away to save him.

Well, I've got to go figure dinner. Have a good night!

Thanks Bigz, I definately want some of that farmers sausage. That is what we had for breakfast the next morning too right ?
I don't remember the summer sausage. Wasn't there a third kind you brought too or was that the farmers sausage that I liked so much ???? Yum

Yep, 45 that is way to young. DH's parents both died in their eary 60's from what they think were heart attacks. DH has to take coumadin for life because he has had blood clots in his legs and lungs, two times !!

His parents were the kind of people that never went to the Drs. They both smoked. We'll never know if either of them had the gene that caused blood clotting. DH has one of the genes of two. Said originally after the first blood clot that he could go off the coumadin but could stay on for life if he tolerates it. Well being the dufuss that he can be he ran out of meds and long story short got more clots in his leg and both lungs !!!!!
smack.gif
Needless to say he will be on coumadin for life !!!!

TO, was at Wally World last night and saw the had cookie tins for $3.50. They just said size Large. How big of a tin do you use? I bought those huge hog pans but think they might be to big although the waterers won't slid off of them as easy.
Then I had this brainstorm of an idea to use those covered cake pans. The ones with the aluminum covers. They were on sale at Fleet Farm for 2/$10. I placed an order online because they had free shipping and ordered two. Now I wish I would have ordered more. Got home to late last night to order anymore and forgot to get some while I was at the store. Their normal price is $10 each !!

CC I missed you and yes I did catch that One way door to go in and out !!!
gig.gif
Knowing TO she is going to buy two of them and have signs posted on each door, IN and OUT on one side and OUT and IN on the other side !!! That way the ONE WAY DOORS will work !!!!
gig.gif

That reminds me, TO I had a dream the other morning, I was at your house and upstairs. I was leaving but before I left I remembered that I had left one of my cookie tins at your house. It was in another room but there was a glass door that I could see into and I saw it. After I asked you about it we went into the room and it was no where to be found. I felt like an idiot and didn't want to say well, I looked threw the glass window on the door and say it. It had pale green stripes on it and pink roses in the middle. (Bought it at JoAnne Fabrics years ago-for real) Anyway, turns out you had those nanny cams all over your place !!!! Boy was I ever embarrassed then !!! Who know what I may have done while you were out of the room !!!
Then there were the stairs !!! You keep talking about your old house so that must be where the stairs came into play. They were really weird. Can't quite recall them but to try to explain there were missing steps and kind of had pegs that you had to step onto. Not the easiest for us 1 peddlers to navigate !!!
gig.gif
Think I made it all the way down when I realized I forgot my Cookie Tin !!!
gig.gif

TO you sure get around !!! All this talk about Football, Stalking Jim and now in my Dreams !!!!! Geez !!!!
gig.gif

BTW I'm going to be getting some MealWorms to start feeding my chickens. I've been reading the thread on Mealworm Farming !!!! How are yours doing TO?
Gosh, I hope I don't have dreams about MealWorms tonight !!!
th.gif
I hate earthworms with all my might, I can't believe I am considering raising MealWorms in the house !! I must really love my Chickens or hate their food bill, OR BOTH !!!
lau.gif

Ok, enough for now, don't want to bore ya all or lose my post !!!!
