lorik welcome
,,,,, sounds like everyone had a nice thanksgiving. That's good.
After dinner I dug some post holes for a screened in area so the chickens could go outside in the winter a bit. I bought some more straw the other day and need to patch a few holes in coop and will be ready for winter,,,,when it gets here. I also am wondering when the snow will come.
My one rooster that had a sour crop (sic) wasnt doing any better so I culled him and did an autopsy. He had a mass in his intestine and the tissue was dead around the mass. Basically his intestines were shot. The mass looked "meaty" so could have been worms from when I wormed him. I would have to get a lab to analyze it to be sure. Well anywho from now on I will be having a strict worming schedule and worm any chikcens I get from other sources.
Later I saw one of my roosters pick up a piece of fiberglass insulation and gobble it down before I could get to him.
CRipES!!!
DS30 taking care of chickens is hilarious(sp?). He is so worried about them,,,," do they have enough food?, space?, water?. " haha kinda cute. I am leaving La Crosse today later so wont be back on BYC till December.
haha Yeah not too long from now! Nice to be in contact with you all again
My Granddaughters (three of them)went deer hunting this year with their dad. One of them watched some deer but said they were too pretty to shoot. hmm. My DD32 and SIL did get at least 2 deer packaged for their use this year. Their side of the family had five deer they were cleaning thanksgiving day, so I think I heard them right when they said SIL had 2 of them. For a family of seven they really can go through a lot of food.
kristip sorry to hear about your daughter with the broken arm. And Amy sorry to hear about your hen.
Hope everyone has a good week next week till I CUagain.
