Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good evening--just got back from taking dd19 back to school. Yes, Jim the guy did show up and bought 12 instead of 10 and his brother took 2 roos. My new system worked GREAT! The buyer was amazed how much easier I had made it than when he was here 2 years or so ago! I gave him a bonus of quail eggs--about 4 dozen! He was so surprised...I LOVE to do that! So now all my ducks are SOLD! I have 3 or 4 nice drakes and the rest are females for next year....should cut down on my corn amounts a bit for sure!
CC--I laughed when I read your comment about the "in and out" doors! No way I typed that!

I really did mean a one way door so they are trapped in after they come back from flying. It is made with wires or something that push to the inside.

BigZ DH says that the filter is on the drivers' side and you have to be careful with the clips (dont break them unless the new filter comes with them) also the same clip has to go in the same place (brown and clear) You can use a little screwdriver to get them off. Dont have to shut off the inertia switch but be careful cause the gas might be under pressure! (watch those eyes!!!) Yeah at 172,000 prolly needs it! Especially with all that sand up there! Kids turned my car over to 150,000 on their trip but said it ran like a top!
I am going to make some omelets for supper tonight...I have eggs coming out my ears! DH is not hungry yet however....so I will wait...
I havent locked up the critters yet. I was amazed that it was already getting dark at 3:30!!!

How long till the days are getting longer? I am already very tired of this early evening stuff as I am sure you all are too! No time for anything it seems.

DH is being "sewing machine repair guy" here...my cabinet one was not wanting to work right so he adjusted the tensioner on it and then brought out my portable and cleaned and made sure that one was working too! Now he is on line reading a bunch of sewing stuff tome...he even joined a Singer Yahoo group! (oh brother) I think maybe he was happy that I mended his 4 pairs of jeans that needed help!

Watching one of our BCs playing with a rubber toy...she puts it on the couch and then "smiles" at it and hits it with her paw until it falls down then pounces on it and does it all again! Reminds me of the videos off foxes playing with mice in the snow that I have seen.

I suppose I'd better stop rambling and get to the chores...always something to feed...goodnight!

Oh FT--just saw your post...so funny about the dream! I was laughing about the "nanny cams!" I really should install those so I can find out which dog keeps $hitting on the floor!!!!

I am not sure that your new tins will work...you will have to use them for CAKE! The problem (and what you have to look for) is that they wont be deep enough for the electrical fixture (if you go that route) or maybe even the light bulb.
THe tins that I try to get are the heavier ones so it is easier to make a hole that is solid and maybe 3 or 4 inches deep. One time I poked a hole and then cut it...this time I may freeze some water in there and them drill it with a hole-saw. Good luck! They work great! T

TO- You are right! There are "one way only" doors. I had one in my coop in Cali. They are designed for pigeons. The door was rather rectangular and the opening had metal "bars" hanging down and the bars sung "in" but not "out". The Pigeons would fly in and push on the bars to get in the coop, but could not get out through the same door.
I'm not sure if a Large Fowl would fit through one. Bantams would. You could check pigeon supply sites. They might come in different sizes.
My door was giving to me by one of our customers who had Racers. I took some squabs off his hands and he gave me the door.

hi, I think I better post so there is someone else between TerriO's posts..

Annie made Swedish meatballs and boiled the b sprouts for 5 minutes and then sauteed them with a few onions.. it was like thanksgiving all over again..

I washed all the waterers again today.. I finally realized why.. I bring them into the kitchen sink to fill them, and then I wash them because I am stalling going back out into the cold..

tonight the heater turned on.. I think, for the first time.. Yes CC it prolly is the first time I think..

good score on the duck sales TerriO. just a bit confused when you said you sold all the ducks and then you have 4 drakes and some females.. you must have sold your extra ducks..eh?

..Sandi, fry a slice of that farmer sausage or summer sausage and hard fry an egg. toast an English muffin, butter and some mild horseradish sauce and a little mustard and you have an Egg McMuffin to die for..

I built a trap nest for the chickens.. I don't use it anymore.. but a door like you describe would be ideal for a trap nest.. hmmmm
sounds like it would be easy to build if I had one to steal the plans from..

Sadly, I don't have the door anymore. I don't remember the exact dimentions (sp) but the bars were "slat- like" and evenly spaced apart so the Pigeons could see in and not squeeze through to get back out. The bars were a stopped by a "lip" fixed on the "inside" bottom of the door frame. Without the lip, the bars could swing either way.

No more deer here, oldest DD went out and missed two more deer (she has developed a bad habit of anticipating the recoil of the gun, so she jerks to the side when she fires...) Made my DH a tad frustrated since she missed with very easy shots.

TO nice spread! I think we ate just as many olives here too! Glad to see we are not the only ones who put out green olives!

Sorry about the broken arm and the passing of hens.

Finally finished with the gatherings of the seperate clans to celebrate Thanksgiving. I am so ready to just sit and relax...... and not eat any more Turkey!

Went in last week to have a consultation for iLasik. I will be so HAPPY to get rid of my glasses!!!!! Eye exam is scheduled for the 6th and the procedure itself should be done on the 15th. Anybody have this done and have any words of wisdom/advice???? Makes me a little nervous to have somebody cut my eyes!

Anyway, I should get some soap dyes made. Later!

Try to do a bit of research before you get (if you get) a flat screen TV. We bought one a few years back, got totally ripped off price-wise, and got what turned out to be a lemon. It had a beautiful picture, great sound & nice features, but it completely died a few days before it's 2 year warranty was up. Luckily they fixed it for free, but it took them months to do it. So in the meantime, we bought another one, different brand & size, but it didn't have nearly as nice of a picture or as many features as the first one. At least the prices have really come down, and especially now during the holidays. But check to see how long of a warranty they have, too. Most are only a year now, and I've even seen some for only 8 months! Criminals.

FT, is this what your hog pan looks like?

I have this heater with a 2 gallon fount & it only sticks out 1" further all the way around than the fount. It just looks big until you actually set the fount on it. I think the hog pans you got were a good deal for making those heaters.

Could you maybe use something like this on the underside instead of a bulb, do you think? Although the bulb would be way cheaper. But these do have thermostats built into them.

Don't feel too bad. I don't know anyone that likes it. All my girls have been confused lately. My banties are up on their roosts by 2pm, the PRs by 4:30-5, but the 4 new ones and Moose stay out in the carport until 9:30-10pm before they head into the coop!

Stupid chickens.........
Glad to hear at least your sewing machines aren't gift-wrapped in seat belts, TO. Sssshhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!
