No, not a packer, Ryan Braun is a brewer (baseball) he just made MVP this year and now they say he has tested positive for steroids. He signed for 10 years with the brewers and has been awesome in every way. I'm sad.

Apparently he is not going to get into trouble for it because of extenuating circumstances. At least this is what I heard this morning.

Well then I am sure they are selling the started pullets for $10 a piece at Niellesville so it probably would be worth it. Maybe next year.

There is also an organic feed store in Sparta, which is by LaCrosse, that sells 2000 lbs at a time. Also fairly reasonable, but cant quote any prices off hand. BBP how long will this food last?

Good afternoon, folks!

It's sort of warmish over my way, which was a big surprise when I went out this morning. Only one frozen egg....

Do any of you pay your kids to do the regular animal chores? I've never paid any of my kids, but I need to now. I've taken a new job and won't be home in time to do them. My 14-year-old is old enough to get them done right, but I really need to give her the incentive to get them done completely, on time, every school night. It's a matter of haying the horses, feeding the pony his special feed, filling water troughs (bringing out a hose and draining it and putting it away each time) bringing the ducks in and feeding them. Quite a bit, and it takes about 20-25 minutes if you work steadily. I don't know what kids get paid these days! I mean, what do they get paid for babysitting or pet sitting? Sure these are her animals, too, but it will be a lot of responsibility. I was thinking $20 a week, but what do you all think? Is that too much? Is $15 more in line? Oh, and she had been doing the chores twice a week, for no pay, already.

Getting ready to go to Amyable's for a Packer party.....got to finish making a salad.....everyone have a great afternoon!

They had it advertised on Craigslist. I called just in time because he had the other 6000 pounds sold. I am going to mix it 50/50 with cracked corn. I'm going to add kelp meal and try to get fish meal or some other animal protein. I think that will be good enough. It will probably last me 7 months. I'm splitting it 3 ways with other people. So I'll have 700 pounds plus the 700 pounds of corn I'll add. I think I use 150-200 lbs of feed per month. I haven't kept track.
I'm going to keep it in the cold garage all winter in poly feed bags. I'll probably take them to work and see if they'll stitch the bags up for me. Hopefully it will stay fresh through June.

Congrats on scoring that feed, BBP. It was a good deal, for sure.

Way to go, Pack! Now those are the type of wins I like the best-"no question". Woo-hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 13-0!

I've been trying to keep up with the postings lately, but after coming in from taking care of the chickens, I've been feeling a nap coming on all day long. DH was feeling like he was coming down with something for the past 2 days. I think he gave it to me. So since the game is over, I think I'm going to bed. Hope everyone had a great Packer day! Sweet dreams, all!

good evening all,, 13-0 the raiders shot themselves in the foot early in the 1st quarter with those penalties.. kind of demoralized themselves..

TerriO, I posted on the O F's thread.. got a PM out of it..
my post was "too confusing"..

BBP, that is a long time to keep feed, watch out for mold..
why would you have to add calcium ?

I thawed out the hose and filled a tub for the geese.. I noticed that it was taking a long time to get full.. that is when I found the gaping hole in the bottom.. I still have another tub.. I must have poked the hole when I pried the tub loose from the ground with a shovel.

My plan with the Thai fowl worked.. they could not get into the lean-to pen so they did go into the guinea pen.. quick learners.

Ryan is a baseball player ? OK then, I don't care what happens to him.. I quit watching baseball the same year I began watching baseball back in the late '60's, I think.. that was when the players went on strike..

I made a wall mounting bracket for the second heater.. I had it setting on the floor.. It got tipped over once.. no problem with that other than it being in the dirt.

got another goose egg today.. I really wish she would quit until spring..

If this weather stays this warm, I think I will haul a couple of scoops of wood chips to each of the pens..

Good evening! I just got in (before reading) form outside! I was out all day and got almost all the coop built for the Blue Ams and the Bucks. It has a linoleum floor and 2 walls and roosts so far. NOt too far to go.
Well, my friend stopped by and we talked for over an hour so I have forgotten what I was all going to say!
Now it is 8:30 and I am ready to go to bed! After she left I could barely get up from the table...I am very stiff and sore from working outside...man I am getting old...

I guess I better grab a few IBU before bed tonight.
I have had my usual popcorn Sunday supper and am all set for the night. I had quite the time getting the guineas out of the tree...I knocked them down with a pole! Then I got all but 3 into the coop...I hope the owl doesnt come tonight. Unfortunately it got my Mille Fleur D'uccle the other night...at least I think it did...He wasnt in his pen this morning and usually slept on the wire on top of the pen. I looked all over for him today and didnt find any trace. Hop-a long was hiding under all the weeds and he shares a pen with Junior so...I think he is gone
