Raim I wanna see those sissels think they would be cool! Going to look at the camera today to see if it can do a vid. Where the heck is Jim thought he'd be on yesterday, maybe it's today. CC I make hen noises when they are in the bator and get responses it's fun! They definitely have their own vocabulary. TO was the banty [lil B] the surprise chick? A couple of the chicks are starting to look like Blue Andalusians and there's some B Aussies, and B Copper Marans in there. Bigz sorry to hear about no fish on Friday but I know you ate well!

Gonna check to see if I can get more posts visible maybe open a second window. I see the baby's need some sand they are starting to dust themselves in the wood chips.

Some of the light colored chicks seem to be developing fluffy cheeks, cute as the dickens! Maybe a photo shoot today. Thinking some hash browns sound good to go with B'fast better get em soakin.

Good morning all!

Im jealous with all this baby and hatching talk!! Can't wait to see more pics!!!

The eggs are starting to pile up here...have aprox 40 plus close to a dozen of the store bought ones left, Is there any harm cooking up the store bought eggs to feed the chickens?

Good Morning!

FT - The track is an old aluminum type storm window that I took apart. The actual door is 1/8" weather proof T-111 (kind of a composite material). Nothing fancy but very sturdy, very easy and relatively light. I have not given up on making it motorized... Just a few minor glitches...LOL It was 23 degrees warmer in the coop than outside with the pop door closed last night!

I'm in for an April Fools Hatch.... Does that mean we set them to Hatch on the 1st or actually set them on the 1st?

That's pretty cool!!!! I don't care how tough you are, anybody that doesn't say a chick is cute is just plain ol' lying through their teeth!

What do you have to do differently when the Mama Hen raises her broad? Just separate them from the rest of the chickens? Special food? I think it would be a lot easier to let the Mama do everything...LOL

Her broad?

All I did was separate her from the rest of the chickens so she wouldn't be as stressed. Some people don't do anything, but this is my first broody/hatch, so we went a little above & beyond.

AWWWW she's adorable!!!! That made go look at mine

I'm hoping with these new breeds that I'll get some broody hens out of the bunch. Sure would make my life easier. Maybe.

How many is she settin on CC? That's so coool! Went out a bit ago the Ford cranked too slow to start. 6V pos gnd thought at first well then the charger should be hooked up backards, nope I was wrong! See what I mean Tomski! Gonna plow today as soon as it starts and warms up, puttin on my winter clothes today.

She started out with 11, but 3 were clears, so 8 all together. One out & at least one pipped. Her sisters kept climbing in the box with her to lay, so she's prolly got a few more days of sittin'. So far, so good. Baby dove back under mama after a brief appearance this morning. First all I saw were toes, then she just popped right out from under there. Cute as a button!
