You took the really scenic route, if you took G into Nekoosa you were less than 2 miles from the coop. Was really hoping you needed some young roo's! Your saving grace is that your Dad grew up in Lyndon and your mom's from IOway. Sweetfolly is from there.

Here's something to get you started. At the bottom of the form is a phone number. Best to call and talk to someone. I'm in the process of becoming an LLC (Limited Liability Company)( so if I sell a bad egg they can't take my house) but don't have the money right now.http://www.dor.state.wi.us/forms/sales/s-211.pdf

CL stands for Craigs List. Here is their site. Pick your county on the right side of the screen. Then find Farm & Garden under the "For Sale" colum.

That's a good price for feed. Do you know what kind of chicke starter they carry?

FrenchToast-

forgive me if I ask too many questions in one post, but I am trying to streamline my fowl opperations
1. I found an individual that I plan on purchasing pheasants from and he sells the feed for .18 cents to .20 cents per pound and that is cheaper than I can find meat bird feed at the local mill. (well the one time I checked)
2. How or what is the criteria for getting tax exempt status?
3. Not sure what CL is but assuming it is the auction site on here, and yes I did see the BLRW on there but am not experience enough at hatching yet to take the chance! I just put my first eggs in the incubator on Sunday!
4. Typically I too run med chick starter till the first bag is out and then reg starter from there on out....

I really appreciate the input,

Joe

good morning, yet.. I have been lurking since about 8 AM..

3 chicken eggs already today and 1 turkey egg.. I was out of layer mash and the chickens quit laying.. they have been back on the mash for 2 days and are laying already.. I even got a pullet egg..

New Joe, don't get too caught up on the protein % thingy. for broilers.. personally, I am going back to ground oats (300 pounds) and corn(400 pounds) for my basic feed. I am not liking the mash type feed for my eating chickens..

In fact, yesterday, I just bought 300 pounds of the feed mill's layer formula.. so if it works for me, I might be going away from mash altogether..

one note about the chicks picking on the newbies.. just keep an eye out for blood.. It seldom happens, but once in awhile the chicks get too exuberant, and pick at one spot too much.. it can cause a spot of blood and then they cannot help themselves, and they will pick at it too much.. at that point you will have to remove the bloody chick..

..........jiminwisc...........

OMG That is terrible. Be careful. If he got one once, he will be back for more. That is one thing that I've noticed is that the lighter birds seem to be taken first.

An eagle took my moms only lavender hen this morning. She is SO mad! I suppose I could give her a couple more . . .

CL = Craig's List

BBP, If I were a hen snatched by an eagle, I would be more than angry, I think..

I have a real nice Blue Laced red wyandotte rooster.. but I have no hens.. If somebody could find me a nice hen or two, I could hatch some chicks .. this rooster is the one who gave me 79 pullets out of 84 eggs.. If roosters are the gender gene carrier, I have a gold mine..

BTW. is there a spell check here on byc? I know it underlines an incorrectly spelled word, but how do you correct it? Never mind.. I found it.. "wyandotte" is still underlined, but the spell check did nothing to it..

lol yeah it was bad lol I took 80 to 173 to G but instead of going north on G I went south, and the guy ended up being seriously like 1 mile from 173 & G where it turned off. I won't be doing that again lol. Coming home I just took 53 to 80 and was good to go.
As for needing the roo's, well sorry lol But come next week I'll have 2 may roos my self lol I have 18 chicks coming from Meyer and 9 of those are roos for meat, then I ordered 8 more chicks from Ideal and then realized they will probubly send enough boys to get close to 25 so yeah I'll have my share of roosters, butcher time wont come fast enough.
