Angiebubs, Delila is going to be broody until she has chicks. She's a dorking and they are stubborn. If I were you, I'd leave her on the nest for a few days and then pop a couple of day old chicks under her. Or, put her in a nest box nobody uses (if you have one) with a few fertile eggs. I can give you some bantam cochin or lavender orpington eggs to use. You will be battling with her all summer if you don't let her have chicks. She's a super broody.

Good morning everyone, I hope everyone gets to take advantage of the warm weather these next few days. I have to run out here in a little bit and do the whole title and plates thing for the truck then getting a new rear brake line for it. This should be fun. The brake line busted yestarday and there is zero brakes in the back. So, since I am more mechanical than DH I am re-doing the brake lines before he gets home so he doesn't get his hands on it. I love the guy but man, everytime he tries to work on one of the cars he brakes something while trying to fix the original problem then we have to fix that too.
The chicks are still looking good. We have been taking some out and letting them socialize with us. Wilbur our pointer/hound mix has issues though. He isn't going after the chicks but when one comes out of the cage he shakes all over really bad. And when he stands there to stare at them in the cage he shakes all over milder and stands stiff lol. It's like he's fighting to not go after them .
Well I need to get some crap done before heading out, I hope everyone has a good day.

Good Morning Everybody! I took the cardboard off the appartment door yesterday and Peatwo spent most of the day glued to it. Had cardboard wrapped around the whole thing to keep the heat in and the kids couldn't see each other. Think he was explaining who the boss is around these parts.

Peatwo's saddle feathers are finally getting some color to them he was almost all white for the longest time. Looks like I'll be putting another coat on the ceiling today. Don't think the jiggler on my $2 canner is the right one and have been looking up parts. Found the same canner on Ebay for...... $99.00

Think I found the correct jiggler for it but am calling Presto to make sure. Really looking forward to the warmer weather predicted!

SW, had to run out and check....... no eggs yet. You would think the 2 yr olds would be laying by now, but we have had slightly cooler weather than you have had. I keep trying to feed them a nice varied diet, they get their regular duck food, mealworms, and then spinach. I suppose I need to stat feeding them eggshells too. I have offered them off and on over the past few weeks but they have not been as interested in them.

Maybe they are not laying since they were laying for so long last year???? I was still getting eggs in September.....

Need to do our taxes today...... just another thing I have been putting off.

Got the notice yesterday that the 20th class reunion is on. Last weekend in July..... now I have to decide if I REALLY want to go.....

Dels.... my roos are nice, it's the Hens you gotta watch those little crappers smack me hard. I walk in with the feed and they are sitting right there on the roost and get my hand every stinkin time. I dont even try to get the eggs out from under them. lol BUT they grow fast and are tasty

we use them for meat birds NOW! I don't like the cornish X aka fatties mainly cause they are fat and lazy the dels run amuk.

spring is in the air, I had to break up a fight between two Thai roosters.... I thought they would establish their heirarchy and quit.. but when I looked out over 15 minutes later, they were still at it.. I picked one up and the other came along with him ,, why let go now ? eh?

that must mean that the hens are ready to lay.. time to separate them .. sorry boys, but neither of you are the "chosen" rooster this time..

Yeah, Dan, a little candle light dinner to set the mood never hurt..

The Del rooster had a lot of yellow when I got him from Whippet.. but he faded during the winter.. and what I feed him is way different than what he was getting fed..

I am waiting for the avalanche off of the metal roofs.. should happen today for sure..

my del hens are sweet, I can lift them to check for eggs.. you must be too mean to yours..

...............anywho, I'm not setting eggs on april 1st, DH is just now dividing the "summer" coop. so my birds are not divided up. I want them to hatch pures so I must wait alittle longer to collect hatching eggs. I won't be far behind though.

ok this is driving me crazy, my stupid computer chair decided to lower all by itself. the lift must have died. I put it up and with in a minute I'm all the way back down.

speaking of old people, i should call my grandmother in law, she's 89 and living on her own

over all she's in good health. I haven't heard from her.... I'll call tonight, she's never home during the day, ever since she moved INTO town she takes the medi van (or whatever it is) everywhere.

Just as I'm getting ready to type a note my cell phone gets a text....man and it's in the other room.....shoooooot....*goes and checks cell while grumbling*
Well, guess it was good I checked. DH wants glamour shots of Midge and Valerie. Apparently they could be famous....Wonder what is going on......
The next puzzler will be do chickens even have glam shots and what constitutes a glam shot of a chicken? Where is BF4 when I need her?
