Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

WCC - It was great meeting you, the kids realy enjoyed your visit. I still can't beleive the van chose that moment to not start ugh.

mazojoe - suck cute chicks

Cindylady - I hope you get your pipes fixed and its nothing major. Good luck

And now I lost track of what I was going to say. Oh well.

I let the chicks out into the coop for some fresh air yestarday and they loved it. I brought the lamp out with them so they would have the heat too if needed. I think I spoiled them though, this morning they are cheeping like crazy and staring at me. lol I think I'll have to put the dogs in a bedroom and let the chicks run around a bit lol. DD's Easter Egger is growing so fast. She is the largest of them all and likes to roost ontop of the waterer. The Ducks have seriously grown 2 inches talled just in the 5 days I've had them. We decided to name them Ming-Ming and Po, lol, Ming-Ming after the duckling on Wonderpets and Po after Kung Fu Panda.
I'm glad its raining today, I need to get my house caught up. DH went nuts last yestarday cutting down trees after WCC left. So now I know what I'll be doing everytime its nice out lol, all that wood need to be thrown on the numerous piles we have going so it can be burned whenever it decides to snow again (hopefully next winter).

I hope everyone has a good day.

I cant BELIEVE you got that great of a hatch rate first time out! I am so ****** jealous. My first try I got12 shipped eggs, 3 hatched, 1 survived. I hope you get a terrible case of chicken math...

It is because they are just a barnyard mix...I will let you know how things go when I want them to hatch! None of these chicks are staying, well maybe 2!

good morning AGAIN !!!!! ode to sh!t .... i just found out that if you go back to read posts while posting, don'e go back to previous pages.. you will lose all that you have typed..

Cind, to catch a tick in your bed,,,,, lie very still..

DrH,, stuff some steel wool around that sump pipe and then shoot some Great Stuff into it..

Apyl.. before you change out that starter,, hit it with a hammer.. sometimes the solonoid sticks..
My Blazer click clicks quite often, but so far it always starts after 2 or 3 attempts. I know what the problem is, but am waiting for warm weather ,,,and dryer ground ,,to work on it..

each of the 2 breeder pens produced an additional egg yesterday..

I finally counted my turkeys, I have Tommy, and 9 hens.. Tommy has been doing the 2 minute drill quite often.. I am getting at least 3 eggs a day..

I have to get to the feed mill in about an hour , so I better get a move on..

Got up this morning, well didn't sleep very at all with chicks hatching. The count this morning is 28 of 30 hatched #29 piped adn #30 has no action. I would say pretty good for my first hatch. I finally took advice and didn't worry about the temp and humidity swings and everyone seems to have done just fine. The old farm house I live in made temperature difficult and my wood burner made humidity difficult at times.

It is going to be a long day at work thinking about the new fuzzy butts

Good job, I knew you could do it !!!! Now pay attention at work, you need that job to buy tons of chicken food !!!

You are doing great at chicken math !!! I'd say that is an A+ !!

mazo... excellent hatch. Hope we are successful as you. We have lots of eggs in the incubator and seeing those cute little fuzz buts has me and my kiddos excited. They keep asking exactly how long 3 weekends from now is.... hard to keep us all waiting!

Is it rainy and dreary by everyone else... yuck!

That's cute !! Maybe get a big calender and mark off each day !! LOL
I"ve decided I am going to bring the classroom a bunch of green and blue eggs. I like the size of easter eggers. So tomorrow when I go to the Antigo Country Stores Purina Horse Owners Workshop that they hold every year I'll drop off the eggs.
Last year Purina had a drawing for a niced John Deere Tractor !!! Guess you guys know that I didn't win it !!!! Wonder what they are giving away this year.

Oh, those chickies are so cute but they eat so much and grow so fast

Rainy Morning all!

I've had a busy morning already here. Went to Abendroth's and picked up the chicks for the seminar on Friday and I got 6 meaties. Geesz those are cute chicks. All pale yellow and fuzzy all over! The place we are doing the seminar for got some Gold Stars and some Ameruacana's. I have one that I've got to watch. She is a little thing and I think she got stuck in a corner of the shipping box. They all sure have a set of lungs on them! As quite as the last batch was these are just the opposite!
I put them in their brooder and they drank like they hatched in the Sahara Desert which made me happy that they wanted to hydrate so well. I'll feed them in a few hours after they drink at little bit more.

Other then that, it's a good day to do house chores since it's all wet and rainy. So I'd best get myself gone

Later

Good Morning! Yup--wet here...we just finished with downpour and the sky is quite a bit lighter--I am hoping for some sun and a breeze to dry the sheets I hung out yesterday! Took me a while to get back on here...I had to go outside for a bit and one of the cats took up residence on my keyboard...

I had a bunch of weird apps going on when I got back. Internet turned off, projector mode turned on (that took a while cause then the touch pad doesnt work) and the privacy setting is still on for FF so I had to jump through a bunch of hoops just to get back on here! It appears that she was pressing the "P" key down for a long time...

CC--I think this TOmmy is realted to your Jack! He is sitting on a box in front of the chick TV right now and they are right next to him on the other side of the glass. I may put him in there just to see what they do. I massaged his crop last night and felt some large flattish things in there. Whatever I did it must have worked cause his crop was empty today! I was glad...I want him to be around for a bit. No wake-up crowing yet...actually I dont think he has made a peep!

Nice hatch rate NewJoe! Should we call it beginner's luck? Did you get these eggs from someone or are they from your flock? Good roo!
MxM--when you run in the Lake Mills run you may see my daughter...they always aske the Activity Center to do the bags and the promo and help with the runs...she works there. There are three phases of that race...are you aware of that? Go to the Rock Lake Activity Center's website...you should be able to find it there.
Geez---it is time for me to go to work already! As usual I thought of all the things I would do before I went to work while lying in bed, yeah right! At least my bed doesnt have any ticks in it!
ep.gif
I like your method for catching them Jim! So Cind...how in the world did it get away from you? It's not like they move that fast! Maybe you should let some of your guineas roost in the abandoned house so they eat the ticks all up?

I better head out...talk later and have a fantastic day! Terri O
