I see I have a bizzion more posts tor ead through-but Im bushed (BBall game, girls home for the weekend, out with friends, Casino last night, and learned ot shoot a .22, lady smith, and 9 ml today-busy weekend and crazy week coming up!

The Silkie was the only one of the bunch who was show quality. The other three were shipped from mypetchicken. Why assume a problem before one starts? If you're raising from day-olds together leave them be until/unless there is a problem.

I also forgot to say FT.... Your animal stories are sad today. I know it can be hard to care for animals properly, but they shouldn't let an animal suffer. Those poor horses! we have the capacity to not be selfish, and sometimes we need to do what's best for the animal, even if its hard! I'm not sure what I think of the rabbit thing. It seems like a dumb joke in the first place, and a little inhumane In the second. People have such a hard time thinking about an animals side in things. Probably would be too hard for them to be cruel if they could...

So sad about the horses and the bunnies. The bunny story sounds like my old grand ? uncle's stories. He has been gone for years but I have and aunt and uncle who live in Fenimore and was my aunt's dad. He always had animal story's where he was playing some silly joke on a person. Back then people didn't think animals could feel anything. I sure remember a lot of stories from the past like that. You would think nowadays things would be different though. Those 56575 yu780 tyyouio *****!!!! So Sorry you had to witness that.

I am just afraid a coyote will try and attack my dog. Otherwise they can do what they want. I don't particularly like them coming through the yard though and marking the coop. That is a little scary. As long as I close the coop before dark though it is ok.

The Big Bang Theory is my favorite tv show I think!! So Funny! Anybody watch it tonight? Schroedinger's cat? LOL What a stitch.



PS> I just figure if they don't want an animal they could butcher it in a humane way rather than let a tamed rabbit lose in the wild where they can't take care of themselves. Thats sad. They would just rather pass the buck than buck up and take responsibility for the animals in their care. O O I better quit now. Gettin a little wound up.

Wow, babylady4 and Bigfamily, I rather ADORE running believe it or not! Not even when you hit the happy endorphin stage do you feel all is right with the world? Bigfamily, I ran my first 1/2Mary last year in Nov! And the previous summer was my first 5K. Was that your first 1/2M as well???? How awesome to discover this about you guys! My sister in law tried to get me to run the ICE AGE (think up and down and repeat an infinite amount of times) 1/2Mary in mid May. Uh, no I don't want to kill myself or anything at the very beginning of the season. But I'll run the Lake Mills Tyranena Brewery 1/2M again in November and I'll start looking for another to do maybe half way through the summer. Which one did you do? Didja like it well enough? Find those running shoes and go get it babylady4 and bigfamily!
Oh mapmyrun.com is something I use all the time. Check it out! You can connect with buds on it. But I value it more to... well, map my runs! There's even a smart phone app. It'll track you AS you run! -tell you how far you along you are. Geez it'll do your splits... so many things! I use it most often for the basic, "I want to run a 3 miler, how far do I run this way to do that?"
babylady, has your son ever read Tom Brown's The Tracker? He might like that one too! One of my all time fav's and I first read it in high school.

I've done 2 already this year. Nothing wrong wrong with a batch of egg laying mutts, Bigz. I am just loving mine. Sweetest batch of chicks I ever had. Good luck on your first go-around with the new Brin.

There are 2 Foolish hatches: One hatching for the first and the other setting for the first. So you have no excuses.

Tommy the house chicken. Now that makes me chuckle, TO. He looks so much like my little Jack, my awesome little surrogate mother.

As soon as we moved all the older chicks out by the rest of the flock, Jack went into his mama mode. He started scratching around & finding all sorts of little tasty morsels for the young-uns. He showed them where the food & water was, and where the best place to take a dirt bath was. He talks to them all the time and never lets them out of his sight. And heaven forbid if one of the older gals tries to stick her head through the bars to peck at one of them. He'll be right there, intervening. He's the best daddy, and he's helped to raise all my chickens over the years. Gotta love my old timer Jack.
