the barred rocks gave me 6 out of 7 eggs today.. the Dels are still holding at 2 for 10..

looks like you are going to have some colorful chickens , Dan.. I think I spotted one pullet ..

lots of people coming up missing.. must be all tired out from working outside..

LOL... it is Jim-esque.... however I think that Tom would have seen Jim's table by now!

I think I got caught up enough with stuff that I decided I had time to make pies! Wanted to have them done for pi day (yesterday) but didn't happen. The guy I helped moved today really likes my lemon meringue so that can be his "house warming" gift. Don't know if his wife likes lemon meringue, if not, her friends can make what she likes! LOL

Think your right about the people outside. Got rid of some good stuff last evening, the kids came over and picked up some real heavy fencing and a piece of railroad rail to make a drag, got a few squito bites. IN MARCH! Got a reminder as to why everyone was coop cleaning yesterday after spending time in the coop. Cleaning mine today!!!!! Gonna be another full day seems to be taking awhile to get back into doing stuff ALL day.

Good Morning!

Didn't go into work today - carved/polished everything we could, now waiting on more granite & marble to come in... Didn't think the weather would be this nice so quickly so held back ordering in order to avoid snow...etc. Now trying to get stuff expedited..

Just as well not working, still dragging from this infection - Still not 100% but a heck of a lot better than I was last week at this time.

Quail eggs were ALL duds. Not one of them was fertile - no embryos, just smelly yolks....LOL That was a 20 day waste of time and electricity....

Lots of stuff needs to be done around here but I just don't have the "get-up & go." I think I'll just do some "putzing" around till I'm pooped out and then take a little nappy-poo.... LOL

I seem to remember days similar to that !!! A looong time ago !!!

I'm still working on being busy half the day around here, after two days of going to town I need two days to recover. Guess I wouldn't need to stop at Good Will, Aldis, Menards etc on every trip.

When I went to Crandon yesterday I stopped at the Humane Society thrift store. I bought a bird cage for $5. I thought it would be a good pen for some chicks.

I wore a sweatshirt to town, I got so hot in the store I had to buy a Tshirt to cool off. I bought one that had NYPD embroided on it. I thought that ought to get some respect from people. Then when they asked me why I limped I would say "in the line of duty":

I'm putting the LO and silkie eggs in the bator today. I know LLLCW girls, I should have put the lavenders in but I don't want a staggered hatch and I had to let the lavender silkies rest after their 3 day ordeal.
She sent me 2 dozen silkie eggs. One dozen was from a cancelled order so she said no guarantee on those.


Anyway at Fleet Farm yesterday I picked up 3 small DARE Enforcer electric Fence Energizers. They normally sell for $38.95 and were on clearance for $10 each. I was thinking about putting them around the garden to HELP keep the deer out.
And I could put them around the inside of the pig pen to keep them from rutting or around some of the coops.

They control up to 1-5 acres. They had a smaller one that normally sells for $29 also for $10. That did 1-3 acres.
I bought the last three so in case DH said it would work for the garden I wouldn't have to drive back 32 miles one way to find out they are gone.

For all of you horsey people or ???? other type of animals. They have 656 feet of 1.5" wide black electric fence tape. Normally sold for $79 selling for $20 Just an FYI.

Good morning! Looks like it will be grand out there again today! Yeah! I have to go and cook but it's an easy one for today. Tommy is crowing up a storm...he may be going out to stay sooner rather than later!
Great buys FT! I would sure like a few of those controllers for that price! I got one good clearance deal on heated dog dishes. $5! I bought all three...they way I seem to short them out every winter I will need them all!
I agree on the "cute, ugly" chicks! I am not real fond of that stage....I guess that is why when they start looking like that it is time to get them outside! MIne are almost to that point now...
The incubator was down to 95 this morning...no idea what is going on with that thing. The quail in the other one are due to hatch at the sunday school today so I am anxious to get that one back. I might transfer the whole mes into that one. I went against the rules and turned it up a bit...sure hope I dont cook 'em out now!

Well, gotta get off to work--enjoy the day and dont work too hard you old guys!

CC... You are a bad bad girl! I hope your hubby is aware of this side of you. Or else I may have to share with him...

Geez FT.... Does anyone ever just RUN away from you?! And my hubby would murder me if I exchanged numbers with a guy for ANY reason... Let alone go to his house!

Since we are having such warm weather... I'm thinking of doing a little work in the back pole shed to get the big temporary coop going. It will be silly to have three 6 wk old birds in the 10 x 10 space, but the weather is nice enough to make the move. Then I'm thinking of building a brooder box and putting the five 3 wks chicks out there too with their light. With 40 chicks coming here in various ways next week, I want to clear out existing chicks from my house. I love chicks... But want them OUTSIDE! My basement is starting to smell!

Btw...The big girls and boy get to roam around all day outside now. They seem to really enjoy it! I threw a big earth worm their way yesterday. I don't think they ate it, but they ran around stealing it from each other. Pretty funny stuff!

Oh Cindy... I don't like pies much... But if you make something with a graham cracker crust, I'll take it off your hands...

Tom, you just take it easy and enjoy your nap. I looooove naps!

And Doc... I'm sure you were enjoying your days of the 2 min drills every ten min... Slut!
