Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hey tatters! You are reminding me to make more soap myself! We are almost out since I gave away everything I made over Christmas!

FEF!!!! I will be so happy to finish work tomorrow!!! I will FINALLY be able to enjoy this amazing weather! I have been walking every evening since the 14th (yeah, a really long stretch there) so at least I get to enjoy it a little bit. Having my mom and sis and her family over for the traditional Irish dinner tomorrow night. The local butcher shop makes their own corned beef that is amazing! I have three beefs, two heads of cabbage, two sacks of red salad potatoes, and a big bag of baby carrots to cook up for tomorrow. In the morning on my way to work I'll pick up the rye bread. Nobody here with drink the stout, but I DO have some genuine Irish Whiskey if anybody needs it!

FT, does this mean you all need another bunch of alcoholic cherries for the bash? ;)

Silly ducks are still not laying....... I think I saw a little bit of nest making in their house, but it does not look like too much so I will not keep my hopes up.

Have a good evening everyone!

and to the Cheesehead thread, Fun-E-Farm! Always happy to meet another chicken lover around here.

You will most likely receive all sorts of different opinions on that subject. I personally don't like to mix the 2 sizes. Sure, they may appear to get along when you're around, but they might get really bullied when you aren't watching. I prefer not to take the chance and/or put the little ones through that kind of stress. But that is just me. HTH.

Good advice, Only I could have said it better !!!

Angie, how much do 8 and 13 add up to ? still going to try to keep it around 20? must be that new chicken math..

CC. come on.. you do not really believe that chickens hold off bullying until you are gone?
Your chickens must be way smarter than any I ever raised..

I am not the guy to ask whether you can put large chickens with small chickens.. have you ever seen my flock ? I mix all breeds and species.. they more or less chose where they want to spend the night,, I just close the doors.. most banty roosters will hold their own against a large roo.. they are the ones who usually pick the fight in the first place.. BTW I do not like bantys ..

Yes BF4me there is a Santa,, and there is alcoholic cherries.. I still have a few that I got in the white elephant fiasco.. I made some more, now that you remind me, I should check on them..
We gave one to Gramma,, she choked and coughed ,, said she didn't like it..

BL4, don't expect a real elaborate nest from your ducks.. they will lay an egg out on the yard or on a manure pile.. what you see, might be what you get..

My Delaware hens decided that their feed dish is a perfect place to dust off. the poultry underneath on the ground didn't mind the special treat trickling through the wire floor. apparently the dels are getting enough to eat..

I'M a little tired after reading all the talk on here! or maybe its the blue smoothies! Me and a friend got my bottom burned off so I will be able to find my asparagus patch, and so I have a good place to run my chicken tractor! Meaties come on good Friday and the old wives tale of getting the potatoes in will make for a busy day that day!

This warm weather has my motor running! I am actually thinking about putting some cold crops like lettuce, spinach, radishes and peas in sunday. I would like to do it tomorrow but have a couple of things to do like grocery shopping and a menards run! I also have to go and look at some coops and runs a guy told me I could have, just get a trailer and take them away! I also have to go and look at a couple of Beaver jobs before the season ends...wow tomorrow got busy. I should go to be but cant, have to sit here and watch some more March Madness!!!

One more thing tomorrow, Badgers are on approximately 5:10 pm...GO BUCKY!

I often wondered when you were supposed to plant potatoes..

I hope your "bottom" heals soon..

Thanks Jim, yeah those silly ducks make funny nests, I guess it just depends on who is doing the construction! One makes a very deep nest, another just barely makes a divot in the straw.

Yes BigFam, there is such a thing as alcoholic fruit.... I have another couple of jars from this past summer that I could bring to the bash to 'get the part rolling'. I made the same vodka recipe but added some almond extract to the jars.

Mazo, I asked my FIL about the hardware store in Mazo, he told me that my DH's cousin is not working there any longer, he is now working at an Auto Parts store???? I'll have to get back to you on that..... :) the conversation is not loading on my FB page...

Ok, off to bed. Night all!
