Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Man KEN--when it rains it pours doesnt it? BTW--did you ever get your chick supplies back from the teacher's friend? And good luck and prayers to your wife on her surgery...will she have to do therapy to get all the flexibility back? If so, encourage her to do the exercises frequently! And congrats on your passing of the class...was there ever any doubt?
It does rain and pour. Yes I got my supplies back and they were sort of clean when they came back too. My DW will be in a splint for a week, then a cast for a month then rehab for another month. She is stubborn though and thinks she knows best. I will continue to encourage her.

The class was very important, but it was hard to study for with all the details going on. It was a written and practical exam. The tests took an hour each and determines if we are tracking with the program and able to be promoted or not. With all the busyness this week I was really in doubt.

Thanks for all the positive advice!

I have a sick kitty and of course the Vet is going on vacation this next week. I do not want to rush him into emergency, I think all they will do is draw samples and send me home. A quick waste of $200.... so I am going to try and keep it together and see if I can get him in to a different Vet tomorrow. Poor baby has gotten so skinny too... he is the one the kids call Fat Cat..... well a fattie he no longer is (just for you TO, Yoda speak).

All my cats are siblings and are going to be 15 this year. The other cats are aware of the one feeling unwell and are trying to help him out, they sleep next to him to keep him warm and assist him with his grooming. It is sweet to see.

I feel so guilty for not getting him in to the Vet earlier.... I suppose it is a case of head in the sand combined with forgetting to call. I am hoping it is something I can deal with easily like diabetes or a Thyroid issue.

Anyway, that is about it here. Sorry to hear about the owie toes, Dr.H you just better make it to the Bash.... and I cannot remember anything else posted....

Yes so I sent 5 roo chicks ( or at least 2 of those are confirmed and the other 3 are strong suspicions) with Carol today and the enabler delivered these... I ordered the full size cochin in blue from when she was ordering... but 4 silkies showed up with it. hate to say these words, but hope there is a roo so i can send one home with her... naw... I really want to breed some silkies. My kids love them. We have two handsome roosters already- a gorgeous splash that is big and bold and a miniature buff.

Here are my surprises...

just a quick note ,, I am waiting for my DD#1 to come pick me up..

TerriO. ,, I passed your number to Karen A.. Hope that is OK.. Now the ball is in her court..

My call duck was spending a lot of time on his back, too.. I held him for about an hour and it really helped. He is in with the 6 young quails now.. when he tips over one of them invariably runs into him and knocks him right side up..

I finished up planting the row of potatoes.. only 1 row this year.. still took 75 pounds of seeds..
I got them all covered, too..

next I will plant 2 pounds of sweet corn.. and then the plants.. they all can wait for a couple of weeks yet..

tomorrow I will pick some rhubarb and Annie is going to make me a pie..

laterz,, ........jiminwisc.......

Oh yes, the goose in the chicken coop has a gosling.. might be more, but she is not letting us get close..

My ducklings are in the brooder, and I found out today that, while on a walk in my backyard, my clumsy black lab stepped on the one with the hurt foot and that's what caused this. Is there anything I can do for it? I want it to make it through if thats at all possible, but I don't know how to 'fix' its foot.

I hate Murphy's law. I only want 2 or 3 ducks. So of course I have 16 growing and wiggling with one week to go! I want 4-5 silkies, all different colors. I just had to throw a half dozen clears! Eff eff eff!!! That leaves 6 silkie eggs in three different colors with 2 weeks to go. (Does anyone need me to translate Eff eff eff? :D)

I'm having issues over here too. First of all, another call duck hen is missing. So now I'm going to have to see if she comes around and follow her to her nest. Hopefully she's on a nest and not dead. Also, i had 4 cochin chicks die today! Now an orpington looks sick and has bloody poop. I guess I should have been feeding medicated feed. I switched to it now, but it's obviously too late for some :(
I'm going to pay for the new horse tomorrow. I'll try to get some pictures.
