Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

hey all,
I am still alive, I had to break out the AC as the interior of the house was at 78 degrees. My shoulder has been giving me grief, I think I will have to make an appt to the Ortho to see what she says.
I had my neuro appt to see if I have Carpal Tunnel.. which I have known since 98, I was tested at the VA some 8yrs ago and they said I had it... BUT a PA at my doctor's office didn't want
to believe me. So I had this appt. only problem is I got sick once, I couldn't make it a 2nd time, so both times had to reschedule, with a month long wait between each reschedule.
So.. low and behold.. the Dr. says "you have carpal tunnel, really bad!!' .. WELL DUH!!!!
He says I should see an ortho and have surgery...
NO, NO oh H3!! NO!!! I have two types of meds, that handle the nerve pain, and wrist braces at night.

In other news, i am "training" an aussie shepherd for my friend and dog sitting same dog for 2 weeks. He is a great dog, and knows quite a bit, he just needed to be reminded.

I found these and thought of TO-

Public Peep Announcement!!!
I'ts me again! Before I completely forget, if anyone is interested, Rick at Abendroth's gave DH a heads up that he has 75 Light Brahama straight run chicks that he needs to liquidate. They are $1.00 a piece. So if anyone wan'ts some birds that are sweet, feather footed and will be very large, give Rick a call. Light Brahama's are basically white with black laced hackles and black tail feathers. I think in some breeds they are considered Colombian colored. So If you'r interested, call Abendroth's Hatchery for the details at-(920) 478-2053.

Hey Carol..i know the lipes family farm that has the second set of Turkeys... they are right down the road from Joans farm near you! They are a great family trying to start up their own CSA with 3 beef cows, 2 pigs, chickens and turkeys as well as veggies. Great people!

In other news... not looking forward to rain... my weeding got derailed by rummage sales nearby... oops

I have a question that seems silly.

What do all of you do during the summer (anytime) heat? My chickens were all breathing with open beaks yesterday when the temp was in the 80s. What happens during the summer?

Our coop is in the shade in the summer and sun in the winter, which we thought was a great idea to help with temp regulation. But after seeing the chicks yesterday, I wonder how they will survive the summer heat.

It seems to me that they should be okay if shaded, right?

I have a friend in Cambria who had bad luck with her call ducklings,, she has only one left and needs a duckling or chicks to keep it company.. anybody close to Cambria who can help out, let me know , OK?

good news.. one of the four cockatiel eggs hatched this morning.. I have not seen the baby yet, but Annie said it was about like a bumble bee..

bad news.. Nora woke me up at about daybreak this morning.. she was looking down the driveway and barking.. I got up and took a look.. the peahen was sitting on the lawn,, off her nest.. I went back to bed and Annie said, something must have scared her from the nest.. I checked when I got up and , yup, no eggs.. and to top it off, she is blind in her left eye.. seems to be in pain.. very subdued ..

good news.. the guinea eggs marked "O" are hatching.. "O" markings are my guineas... "X" marks are Marlene's eggs..

more good news.. we have one call duck in the hatcher.. He is having trouble with equilibriam, but I think he will be OK in a day or two.. The water did it's "quit flowing" trick, so the duckling was dried in the shell.. I helped him hatch at midnight.. hence, the trouble he is having..

I am going to set the rest of the potatoes into the trench today.. even if I don't get them all covered, at least they will be in the row..

Wow Amyable! Crazy flood going on by you! (is that "going on... by you" or "going on by you"?) I'm so glad your duckies didn't float away! I would be so distraught if I lost animals that way! NOW I know why I live on hill.... ...or is it a drumlin? I actually think what we're living on is a drumlin.

Oh crud Ken! So sorry to hear about your wiff!

Oh my goodness Kristi, do they look adorable!

Wow Earthy Lady!!!! Quite a story! The little girl was spreading toxicity all over them!

Ok, everyone is astounding me today: Wow Jim, Cockatiel eggs? Amazing!
Aw, sad about your peahen. How awful. Poor dear.

Did my finger nails extra purdy today. So that makes me happy

Did a pedi too. I rammed my toes into a full kitty litter carton two nights ago. Cried out in pain and later HAD to ask my husband "Why when I'm in pain do you ask "Are you ok???" Cuz I feel like a real jerk when I want to holler NO I'm NOT!"

Now one of my toes is all kinds of purple. I don't think I broke it. But it's sure putting on a display. I should post it here just for.... kicks.

So as to keep up with zany popular culture and the blatant over sharing that goes on on-line I now give you my purple toe...

Ouch that has to hurt ! Love the nails. Mine are currently blue mood polish, well the bottle calls it mood polish when really they change color from Darker blue when cold to light blue/teal when Hot.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. My wife is doing much better. She came home at 9am and has been resting most of the day. I am ready for a short nap and then watching Star Wars with all my friends tonight for... May the Fourth be with You!!!

I am hoping to have some luck in the rain tomorrow and sell a few birdies. The left overs will combine in the brooder and coops.

Time for my nap before the movie.

Oh, BTW I passed my class with flying colors.

KEN
