I have a DUCKLING!!!
As for the raspberries- before planting soak the roots for a couple of hours in a bucket of water, dig your holes 2 to 3 feet apart in the row. put each plant in a hole and spread out the roots and backfill with the loose soil- make sure the crown is just below ground level. pat the soil down around the plant and give each plant a gallon of water slowly. We usually plant small plants that have popped up in the walk way between the rows. Good LuckI wonder if it was a gypsy moth nest? They are flogging for them ya know.
I read in my new book that if you slope your garden soil to a 5* towards the south (in northern hemisphere) it is the equivalent of setting the climate 300 miles south. Has anyone raised the Cherokee Purple heirloom tomatoe? Was wonderring about that one. Also, what would be a good tomater for salsa canning and a good pepper for mild/medium salsa? Anyone know how to plant bare root raspberries? I have 5 of them that need to go in the ground sooner.
There was a bear in our yard last night too. I let the dog chase him a little bit.
BBP: ADorableeee!!!!!!
"OUR BEAR" just rambled across our field about 200 yrs out....it can go back to whereever it came from anytime now......these regular visits are making me a tad uncomfortable!!!!
