Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hi All...

That guinea I believe is a standard French, at least from what I looked up.

Big Black Fluffy Butt is my other Cochin. Her and the one in the "pot" are 2 of the 4 Cochins (along with Prettyboy and George) that Jasmine hatched last year. I had a black roo that "something" grabbed last fall. The light roo is at a friends so I can "borrow" him if I want.
I'll get a better pic of her for you.

I wonder if it was a gypsy moth nest? They are flogging for them ya know.

I read in my new book that if you slope your garden soil to a 5* towards the south (in northern hemisphere) it is the equivalent of setting the climate 300 miles south. Has anyone raised the Cherokee Purple heirloom tomatoe? Was wonderring about that one. Also, what would be a good tomater for salsa canning and a good pepper for mild/medium salsa? Anyone know how to plant bare root raspberries? I have 5 of them that need to go in the ground sooner.
As for the raspberries- before planting soak the roots for a couple of hours in a bucket of water, dig your holes 2 to 3 feet apart in the row. put each plant in a hole and spread out the roots and backfill with the loose soil- make sure the crown is just below ground level. pat the soil down around the plant and give each plant a gallon of water slowly. We usually plant small plants that have popped up in the walk way between the rows. Good Luck

There was a bear in our yard last night too. I let the dog chase him a little bit.

Super jealous, as much time I as spend outside and in the country, I still have not ever seen a bear in the wild...really kinda pisses me off, but not so much that I go camping in bear territory, I might be dumb, but I'm not an idiot.l

FT.... could you get a 4-H or High School kid to do it? You CAN'T miss the bash! If all else fails ..... you have a horse trailor don't you? Just bring 'em all along!

Storkey I got from Jim at the bash last year.... she's a Thai hen. When I went to lock up I found one of her chicks in with the roos again! This time I don't know how it got in, thought I fixed any holes. I have good boys... didn't touch it! We figure it must be a pullet and they were waiting for it to grow up!

Here's the black Cochin....Pepper... I had to use the flash so she's kinda' shiny.

This little lady is Speckels ....She was the only pullet out of the 5 that Lacy hatched. I think she's pretty.... different if nothing else!
