Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Morning all!
Just checking in and such, catching up on the happenings here. Watched The Patriot last night....movie makes me proud to be an American! Speaking of which, Flag Day is the 14th! It is also the Birthday of our Army, which was founded in 1775.

Anyway, had burgers last night while we watched the Belmont. Saxon tried to help me take the burgers of the grill.

Luckily he did not get hurt! Silly dog! I lectured him on the stupidity of that action and threatened him with a trip to the vet. He just ignored my lecture and sat in the kitchen waiting for a bite of the cheese burger I made for the dogs.

Tonight I think I might grill up some chicken. Or a rabbit. Well, I'd best get outside and take care of the critters. It already feels warm. It's gonna be a hot one today! Stay cool every one!

Later

FT, if I lived closer I would go view the horse as a prospective buyer and have a complete fit about his condition. Then I would send about 5the more people to do the same thing individually. Maybe they'd get the hint. The horse that I bought had a $1000 price tag last fall. He never advertised to anyone but friends and family. I told him flat out that with no care other than hoof trimmming for the last couple years and no one riding him he wasn't worth more than $200 to me because I'd have to have a vet come out do coggings, vaccinations, verify age, and check his teeth. Then I'd need to send him to training. He finally approached me this spring and said I could have him for $150, otherwise he was going to the "horse jockey". Maybe these people are too intoxicated to see or care how this animal is suffering. If I had money to offer I would definitely negotiate with them and send the horse your way. I will in the fall when my husbands commision checks come in. Hopefully he's not there that long. If he were a dog, chicken or something that did not require a big, obvious trailer I would personally drive up there and remove him from the property when they weren't home. Yes, I would STEAL him.

Thanks, I'm tempted to but if I keep the horse I'm sure some day I'd get caught so best try to do it the legal way. Main reason I haven't gone and blasted her is because I don't want to get accused of tresspassing. I'd like to be able to go see him and feed and water him now and then without her turning me in.

Think you'll remember this one like I learned that you have at least wear socks and a hat inna boat. Hated when the part in my hair pealed. Combing was painful! Bl4 I'd like to know where you draw the line? Do you feed minnows to your ducks? Do you use worms to fish with? Do you swat squito's? Going out to cut the first of the salads this AM and gonna try out the new salad spinner.

Quote: And the Pot money. Reason I know that you say ??? Remember when I first got there at her estate sale and no one was outside? The puppies were in a carrier with Mom and sitting in the sun?
I knelt down next to her chair and there were a bunch of avon bottles on the ground (in a shady spot) so I took my arm and pushed them all aside and saw a ceramic lid or ? that I thought was another bottle or part of one sticking out from under the chair. Picked it up and was going to put it with the rest of the avon bottles. WRONG it wasn't a bottle or piece of one. It was a POT PIPE and I could smell the dope. So I just put it back under the chair !!! So she's a dope head and a drunk. I do have to give her credit she did have blue kote on hand and a new fly mask and halter BUT animals need to eat !!! PERIOD. She said he loves the bread she gets at the grocery store. Big bag of day old bread !!! Grrrrr

FT~the more I hear about the poor horse, the angrier I get! I am going to do some digging of my own and see if there isn't an organization in Langlade Co. that will get involved. If I find anything out I will PM you. Drunks and potheads don't scare me, BUT mistreating an animal gets my Irish up!

Have you tried contacting "Friends of Animals" the no-kill group in Rhinelander? My guess is they might have connection with some groups we don't know about. They are good folks and will keep the contact on the "down low".

Guess what? Guess what???? My wonderful hubby watered EVERYTHING for me last night, outside chores are done, dinner is thawing on the counter, puppy and kitty are stretched out on the porch, sooooooooo, I get to sit on the porch swing and play with my new laptop as long as I want!

Oh BBP... I love you! I was thinking the exact same thing!

Oh and I am a dork. On my little silkie eggs, I thought P.A. Meant paint silkie. It meant PARTRIDGE. I know nothing about colors, and feel dumb for getting it wrong and posting it! No biggie if I'm wrong on the sly...;)

That sounds like a great Idea, except, you are operating on the premise that this woman still has at least one functioning brain cell left that hasn't been totally pickled or stoned into non-function. People like that function like predatory animals and will strike out (aka attack) anything, or one, they perceive as a threat to themselves or anything that would come between them and their "supply". Worse, it sounds like she is has a "mate" that is possibly just as aggressive. People like this cannot be dealt with on a logical level (that requires functioning brain cells) so their reactions can be totally unpredictable (good clue when the neighbors do whatever is necessary to avoid contact). Past personal experience has taught me that head on confrontation seldom works with these folks unless you happen to be wearing a badge.

There has to be a group with enough clout to be able to "persuade" them it would be in their best interest to turn loose of the poor animal out there somewhere.
