Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Warm Afternoon All...If the birds are to warm then the barn would work...mine find a cool place in the shade under trees and bushes. Nice breeze today so that helps some. The runny poo in the summer can come from drinking so much water. Can't blame em for that, eh!

If a wolf is on my property i consider it a nuisance...period. The DNR knows they are here....I don't need to call them. Why not simply leave the small child there if they aren't a threat.

I haven't mulched anything yet....seems like alot of work without old hay or straw.

I'm gonna listen to you Ken.....time for a cold one!

Those kittens are too cutE...wish I could talk dh into one but he really doesn't like them.
So I I think we are going to ask the in laws to come back from their conference early and take care of the dog... I can't make a decision at the vet for them...they need to do it. But looks like all food and water is not staying down which means it is a matter of time. My son is really upset about it and sure that dd will be too when we tell them. thanks for the well wishes on that. The dog used to be ours before kids so we feel some responsibility here too..
On a happy note... Starting to set up for my huge rummage sale next weekend. Clearing out the house and kid stuff. It all needs to go. It will seriously take me most of the week to set up and convince the kids not to take everything back off the table!
FT... Can you threaten her that the horse is in such horrible shape she could lose it or take less money....hate to say that but...it needs some help. And you are a sweet person for wanting to do that... Good luck.

Maybe you could have someone else threaten her. Then if she gets mad at them and wont take a lower offer she'll call you and try to dump the horse cheap.

Whatever happened to preaching tolerance and all God's creatures are here for a reason? If there is no issue then why create one? How does the DNR know where animals are located, are they psychic? Not every wolf has a radio transmitter. It is just good wildlife management practices to ask the public to help out and report sightings. You and I could go round on this subject many times over and still be just as stubborn in our personal viewpoints..... I understand your position completely too. I would just like it if the public would consider an alternative to killing an animal that has done nothing to warrant a death sentence. You can't take it back once you have pulled the trigger.

Frenchie, those owners should be subjected to the same treatment that horse is getting now.

Time to lounge outside.... Later!

Afternoon all!
Just checking to get all caught up then I've gotta go check the rabbits and cool them off.

FT-That is one sad case. You were a lot nicer then I would have been. I would have called the sheriff on her and filed a complaint against her for animal cruelty. And I would keep doing it until they took the horse away. Grrrrr...that horse needs help and it astounds me that there is no one in your area that is not some for of animal control. His eye looks infected and that does not surprise me. He also is that type of Appy that needs to have a fly mask that has those UVB/UVA protections in it. Even in great health he will always need that consideration because of his skin pigmentation. I bet as he gets older or he will develop moon blindness or cancer on those eye lids. Heck with the way he is treated now, he can still get moon blindness.
Maybe you can get her to give him to you. That $4000 is probably how much she needs for something else. No one in their right mind will give her that for him. If I was in any place to take him I would break him out of that He$$ Hole in an instant and bring him home.

Well, gee, now I forgot what I was going to say! A well, best get gone anyway....

Good Morning all, yes I know it's 1:42am still night for me and Cind but morning for all of you !!!

Anyway, where to start. Remember yesterday I went to get feed in Embarass, Bigzios feed store..... and I was going to share my day later? Well here it is and it has turned into a small night mare or should I say gelding !!!! I am so upset about all of this my head is spinning.

First of all, going back to yesterday. On my way down to the feed store I spotted an estate sale so I decided to stop.
Well, no one was outside. I noticed a dog kennel and heard a small dog barking from inside of it. I looked inside and there was a toy poodle. And she had 4 puppies. (Just so you all know, I had 3 toy poodles up until two years ago. They were all sisters and have since passed away. I LOVE toy poodles)
Anyway, I knocked on the door and no one answered. The puppies were sitting in the sun in the kennel. So I knelt down, moved some avon bottles that she had sitting next to her stuffed chair (yes outside) and moved the kennel to the shade. Just then the woman came outside.
Got to talking about the adorable pups and then I noticed she had a sign that said "horse" and "puppies" for sale.

I then asked her what kind of horse (just to be nosey) Well, it is a Percheron/Appaloosa cross !!!! WELL you all know I love my draft horses !!!
He is white with black spots (she said he was lepord spots but after seeing him it is a blanket)
Anyway, I had to leave to go to the feed mill but stopped at DH work and told him about the pups and horse. I said "It must be meant to be" LOL
She said the pups are $300 each and the horse with saddle, bridle, fencing... everything $4000 !!! WOW I thought that was high.
So anyway, didn't get back from the feed store in time to look at the horse (he was at a different place)
So today I drove over to her house (actually her late mothers house where the sale was) and asked if she could show me the horse.
I was envisioning a white percheron with a lot of black spots all over him.

THIS IS WHAT I FOUND !!!!!!! SHOCKING !!!
.

When I got there his halter was so tight it was digging into his nose. I told her to loosen the buckle and lower it on his nose. You can see the depth that it got embedded into his nose. She went into the house to get some Blue Kote. I offered to help her do it otherwise who knows if she would have done it. I took these pictures while she was in the house. She brought out a fly mask and we put it on but later when I went back to show DH the poor guy it was off already.
His eyes especially the left one is oozing out yellow clumpy crap. She said they had flushed his nose/tear duct but didn't help. I think she said the vet did it but ?????
She is putting vasaline around the eyes.
She said she has had him for 10 years and that he has always been this thin and was never able to put weight on. She said the vet gave him a block of something to eat and it went through him and it was determined that he was chewing ok. She said he wasn't eating his hay or didn't like hay??
When I got there he had two empty 5 gallon buckets for water. No hay. She had told me that her DH was going to stop on his way to work and give him hay, I did see 2 bales in the back seat of his car. When I brought DH over to see him there was no hay and no water. And there was no water spiket outside to give him water and she had brought the pails in the house. We then drove over to her Mom's house and told her we brought him some hay but he needed water. She said her DH was going to bring it to him after work. Argggghhh.

I told her I would give the horse a good home and that he needed vet care. She just said her sister was bring the saddle over from Rhinelander tomorrow.
There is no way that horse is worth any money.. Plus she said he is spooky and bolted with her on his back headed toward the highway and if her sister had not been pulling into the driveway he may not have stopped.
She said she had to tie him with the chains (for only two weeks) yah right because he smells the mama bear and her cubs and he bolts through the fence.

DH said it that horse has been in that condition for 10 years she should be arrested. She said her DH cuts the grass and give him the clippings which I could see.
I would love the chance to bring him home and fatten him up. What worrys me is his eye discharge.
She says he hasn't been dewormed for a year. I doubt it's been that recent.
I can see she doesn't have any money and this is part of the problem. I'd sure like to know where the $4000 comes into play. Must be one nice saddle !!!
I've decided that Butt dog doesn't want another small dog to infringe on her turf. We let her see the pups and she had nothing to do with them. She's an old lady dog and will get all of our attention until the day she is no longer with us. Made me feel so guilty thinking about getting one of those pups. But then again after Butts is gone one day i'll feel the guilt when I get another one. Can't win.

So what to do about this poor horse. He looks in worse shape then the stallion that the neighbor rescued. I took the camera with me today so I could get a picture of him but he must have been behind the barn. Oh and I saw a poor chipmunk drowned in his water trough.

So guess I'll be starting a rescue fund to save the horse, Cody is his name.......... Pm me for my PayPal address !!! LOL

Seriously what do all of you horse people think ????? She said he is about 15 yrs old. Does he look like he could be older ???

I seriously hate some people sometimes !!!!!

Ps the chain was actually put on with a lock on his halter and on the shelter. There would be no safe way to undo that lock in an emergency. And the weight of that chain will just did a new spot on his nose.

FT-
This is the exact type of horse my friend Stan wants!!!
I think the reason the horse "spooked" is he probably has undiagnosed uveitis (moon blindess) It is a painful but treatable thing
Appy's can get.
IF there is any way I can help, not fiancially, I am a little challenged with that right now.
Also you can simply remove the halter, put another one OR a rope around his neck and take off the one that is chained OR cut it off...
I think if you submitted those pics to the folks at Midwest horse welfare foundation, they can get this horse the help he needs..

Oooh, someone needs to submit those pictures to them! An Babylady, I totally agree with you on the wildlife statements. My horse comes home tomorrow! This was also a case where the horse wasn't in a perfect situation but not even close to as bad as this poor guy. If enough people come and look and let them know the horse isn't worth the money they'll eventually come down. I can't imagine paying $1000 for him, let alone $4000! Hopefully they come to their senses soon, for the poor horse's sake.

Hi guys! With the kids home now, there's not much quiet time. I know you are all missing my wit and charm!;)

Today I let the 3 new hens out to free range. I was worried they would take off, but they have been good girls and stuck around in the back yard. Cluck cluck cluck... Bawk Bawk Bawk. Man those girls sure do have conversations!

Also let the ducks into the baby pool. They were diving and swimming underwater, so I thought I'd get them treats. I went and got 2 dz minnows and put them in the pool with them. That was FUNNY! Duck predators lol! They gobbled them up. (don't anyone nag me about how I shouldn't have done it, if I shouldn't have).
My Aussie dot really does mature much faster than the Scovy or Cayuga mix. She's almost all feathered out. She is so cute!

While the above was going on the 3 yr old was swimming in his baby pool. The goats were lounging under my chair, and occasionally asking for pats. It was a funny looking menagerie going on, and I loved it! :D

I think I'm putting the ducks in a crate and having them outside to tonight. They are so stinky and messy! They spend their days outside anyway, so we'll give it a go. I can always put them in the garage if it gets too cool, but that won't be for a few nights.

My silkie with the curled toes is still hanging in there! I am shocked really. So of course I'm getting very attached to it for its tenacity to dealing with splints and not being able to get around well. I need to give her/him a good name. In honor of the new movie coming out, and her not giving up, I think I'm going to name it a BRAVE. Now I have probably jinxed it... :/

Ok, I better go. I read all your posts. I have more to say, but fighting children are calling...

Hay all !!
Hotter then H3LL up here. Did nothing but sit in front of the fan today !!! DH is down at the neighbors. They are putting on a new roof. Just got a call to come down for brats and burgers. So guess I'll be there.
Just wanted to say thanks for all the concern for the poor horse. I read the MWHF website and that's what I was doing. Lying low or I'll never get to see that horse again. And it is so far back in the woods that no one will ever see it from the road.
I did tell the neighbor about it, the one I'm going to see shortly. She knows the woman and said she would never give it away.
I did read about the eye problems that appy's and light skinned horses can get. That's part of the reason I was up until 6am........
th.gif

So now I guess I just sit tight for a bit and see if she calls me about selling it. I have no extra money now either.Ziltch but if I had to pay a small token like $100 I would just not pay something else, not like that hasn't happened around here !!! LOL

So anyway, I'd better get dressed again, laying negged in front of the fan was so nice but I'm hungry !!!

Suppose to go down to Horicon tomorrow for my nephews graduation party. Sure hope the Union Hall down there is air conditioned. My water blister is finally healed but I'm getting a bunch of small ones now. Guess I should loose some weight, that ain't helping. But what the heck, eating and swearing are my only two vices !!!

Ok, later for now. Wonder if I should bring an extension cord and my fan with !!! LOL
