Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good Morning every one.

Just got done reading three pages !!! Geez and you all think I talk alot !!!

Anyway, I too a drive over to see the horse today. The womans husband (ex actually) was there.

Didn't want to leave when I saw his car so I knocked on the door and asked if I could go see him.

We got to talking and I asked how the wifes cousin was after the accident. He looked at me very confused. Long story short, the wife has been lying to me. Remember the cousin was suppose to bring the saddle from Rhinelander and on her way got in an accident. Then she was going to go see her and have her husband go up an bring the saddle.
Turns out the saddle was in the house the whole time. He said she is hitting the bottle real hard. He threw out two bottles of vodka yesterday. So bascially she is drunk and that's why she hasn't answered the phone and made up the lie. She doesn't want me to hear or see her that way.

Anyway, back to the horse. I brought him some soaked beat pulp and a small amount of oats. I also found some extra dewormer and asked he guy (made sure I had permission) to deworm him. He said sure.
The sore on his nose is all healed and there doesn't appear to be any bad scar. I think we caught that just in time. And his eyes didn't seem to be oozing as much.
He is a bit thinner then i remember but he is not starving. In need of more food, definately.
So I made the guy an offer on the horse. He is going to talk to her tomorrow. I have his phone number now.
DH met me there and he helped the guy take down the metal that was in he front of the shed. The horse's chain must have got caught on it and pulled part of it off. I told him it would be much safer if the whole front was removed.

Both DH and I feel sorry for this guy. He said he has been trying to get his wife to go for treatment. He said they have two beautiful grandchildren he wishes she would do it for but she won't.
I asked him if I had his permission to stop by and give the horse treats. He said yes.
So I have my foot in the door. Just need to get it proped open wide enough to get the horse out !!!
There is more to the story but I'll have to finish later. It's about my search for the previous owner of the horse.
Ok, night all and yep, all cute pictures. I love the chicken hat and I also love the book. I was going to make one for my niece with all of my animals. Care to share how you made it ???

He11, I built a house when I was pregos. Now just trying to vacuum is an all day job! Full time ambitions in a part time body!

FT....Sounds like your doing good working to get that horse! Thank you, thank you for deworming him! And bringing him other goodies! Sounds like talking to the ex-H is going to be the way to go. I would try to just deal with him, he can at least deal with her when the time comes. He might be able to talk her into just cutting her losses. He dose seen "OK" I hope.

OK, must try to sleep... night.

Good Cool Morning Again Good People! Cind glad I'm not alone with SP. Love any show that's not PC. I'm with ya on the Full time, part time. Never get as much done as planned. Hope all you up norters didn't get hit too hard with the frost last night! Cute babies there Angie! I'm havin a real tough morning. Plan last night was to butcher 3-4 roo's. This morning it's well I would like to keep Sparky cause he's a beautiful Australorp with white ears. And Freckles cause of his coloration. And Babykins cause he loves me and Blackie cause he's cool lookin cause of his cheeks and beard. That leaves 2 roo's for the freezer.

But the reality is a few of the young hens won't come out of the coop because of all "attention". Guess I'm gonna have to make a big decision.

On the up side I've been getting dark brown poult eggs well yesterday I got a dark one and 2 count em again yup 2 creme colored ones. At least I think their creme colored. Looks like a chance of rain soon hope that happens the blackraspberries could use some. Haven't looked at the blueberries yet. Gonna fire up the sprinkler in the garden and on the way to the coop make a decision. Was just thinkin maybe go talk to that buddy of mine to borrow his plucker. IDK

mornin' everyone

Boy is it crispy this morning

No doubt we frosted but I think it was so close to dawn that any damage will be minimal, if any. Hubby and I managed to get all the tender stuff covered in plenty of time after the grandkids left. They were so cute! They were absolutely fascinated with the hens (and I think their mom was more interested in my teaching moment than the kids) and really interested in what they ate, how they layed, etc. They were both so gentle and respectful of these living beings that I picked up "Crockpot" my gentlest hen and let them "inspect" her

. Don't know how the girls are going to feel this morning tho after all the treats they got fed yesterday

One thing I am concerned about tho. I noticed in the evening one hen was acting lethargic and seemed to be straining? I know it had nothing to do with the company. The last two days strange happenings in the nestbox. Seems to be the week for that, huh? Last two days my count has been one down (never happened 2 days in a row before) and somebody is laying fragile/rubber eggs again. I hope the "missing" egg doesn't mean I have an egg bound. Checked the coop a little while ago and there was one normal egg from my hen with the chronic gleet (can't miss hers) and 2 hens sitting. Go out again later when it warms up more and start checking them all out. There goes my day to relax and re-coup.

Angie~great news on Hawkeye! gorgeous babies

TIKI~thank you for the really interesting links, I bookmarked both.

FT~wow! So glad you are making progress with the horse. Just proves your approach of keeping a cool head was the right one

Good cool morning! I hear ya on tough decisions Doc! I had two guys over to buy roos last night and sold Toby and my striped (I dont know what) roo to them. Never thought I would sell Toby but the guy wanted big and black and that's what he is/was. He wasnt breeding any more and just hung in the coop after his foot infection in early spring so...the striped one was the one that made Eli--with Elaine. I sold Eli last week and Elaine has passed away so...yup, tough decisions to be sure! I wish I could keep them all but I just cant afford to feed them!

That sure is a cute baby Angiebubs...like CC I want to know what the breed is?
Man, I am falling asleep as I type here...got up early again today because of Doctors appointments for clients. Hopefully I can get back early enough to get something done. I have just a little bit to plant yet in the garden and I am hoping that if I plant it today the seeds can take advantage of the rain....IF it hits us this time! Dry Dry Dry is the story here like most of the rest of you! I was digging yesterday to put some plants in and I could hardle get the shovel to bite...and I have pretty good soil now. I couldnt imagine doing what I did before the amendments.

Yesterday my last buff orpington was dead in the coop. I think her friend has been gone for two weeks or so. She was in the nest box. I thought she was laying an egg until I petted her and she didnt move! I lost Abe (the salmon Fav that I got from FM at out first bash) on that really hot day. Seemed like he went in the pop door and lied down and died. DH was sad about that because he liked that chicken. I do have a really good looking son from him though!

This morning when I went out 7 of the 13 ducklings (2 days old) were sitting in a pile near the gate...no mama in site!
he.gif
This duck is giving me fits! She doesnt watch her babies at all! There was a little goose there too but the big ones saw it and told it to go with them and their larger babies. That is what I like about geese. They dont care whose babies they have; if they are geese they belong. Not so with most chickens and ducks!

Well, I best be off...gotta meet my client in a half hour...wish me luck! Terri O

Does anyone have Seramas and if so how do they handle the cold here in WI.
hmm.png

I have 2 that I bought a couple weeks ago... I do have a insulated coop, draft free, but do not heat it in the winter...

Amyable~ My dog is a Malinois, we are in Search and Rescue, nationally certified in 3 disciplines. She's a smart dog!

Morning all!
Got the chores done early and today is Dog Bathing Day. I thought about doing it tomorrow since it will be warmer but thought I'd best get it done today. It's better for me since it's a lot of work to bathe 3 large dogs and I hate the heat....

BTB is in trouuuuuuuble! He has been either sleeping or getting into no end of mischief. Yesterday I found him in the bathroom with Ichy trying to fish. Ichy saw me a left and I had to chase Bubba out. Icky has completely forgotten the fish but Bubba keeps trying to get his paws under the door to get it to open. After I yell at him he goes and flings himself down in the towels in the laundry pile. And glares...*sigh*

The garden is garden-ing. I have some squash that are already starting to grow and some pumpkins I think. DH didn't plant the little plant tags that went with them so I will be surprised. The tomatoes are getting bigger and some are starting to fruit. The water melon is going to be a feral wild water melon this year I think. It is very happy.

The road out front is quiet for the moment. Feels like no one is around. There was a gigantic accident on the I90 by Stoughton and both north and south bound lanes are closed. Where the accident happened people must not be able to get off to detour on my road.

FT-Ugh!! Seriously! Your horse story is like watching a Soap! "As the Stable Turns"! How could you mention the "Parental Search"episode and then not say anything!
he.gif
Ugh! I was on the edge of my seat! Hoping that guy would let you get that horse out of there!! I surely hope he can work on that drunk and get the horse out of there.

Cind-You built a house when you were pregos?!?
bow.gif

Ok that is about it for me....getting to thinking on all the stuff I want to do so I'd best get gone and get it done....

Good Morning :)
I'm sorry I am too lazy to read. Just wanted to say hi to all the Wisconsinites :)
Any phoenix breeders?

Dou

DrHaha-So glad Im not the only one that has such a tough time with loving the roos!! I dont butcher so then have to find their new forever home :-(. And its looking like I may have a few roos once again. I honestly think going forward if I add any more to my flock I need to stick to sexed pullets only (SIGH-good intentions and all that).

Willow is my Light Brahma-dont remember pics of LT BRahms being quite this fluffy either. All my baby girls are darling but this one takes the cake-sassy lil puff ball. And the rest are so quiet but not Willow-runs around cheeping her lil puffy head off non stop.
