Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Morning all!

Still looking for LF Brahmas...Didn't get an answer to my email last week. I thought there was a guy with some near Marinette/Crivitz? Anyone know who he is?

I have another question...Accidentally planted a bunch of hot peppers this spring (Tex-Mex). Can I feed the peppers/seeds to my 5 week old chicks. They have been eating all kinds of other scraps from the garden already but I don't know if the hot seeds would harm them.

Took a break from canning this week...gave away the last picking of pickles. Froze broccoli and will process the few tomatoes I saved from the blight.
A very happy note....the Setter is calming down around the birds. Trying to stay consistent in his retraining...a long way to go yet but I'm finally seeing some improvement!

Get a baby chick and stick it under her at night
I tried this and she killed the chick, and was pecking the other one so I took it away from her, and she sat 2 more weeks and then just gave it up. I have another 1 now tho silly BSL missing half her feathers, she used em to line the nest over the nest pad...............

BTW Good cloudy morning to ya'all, It's been sprinkling here on and off since 5:30 am, had a good boomer go over yesterday afternoon, lots of thunder/ wind/ and brief heavy rain, the garden said OH Yahhhh

Getting some veggies finally cucs, have started, my Dragons tongue beans are awesome.... and my watermelon and squash are huge already, tomatoes are crazy , but all green yet but a few cherry's, lost my strawberry bed to quack grass, but did get some Bl raspberries, made 1 pie and got a few quarts in the freezer, No where near what Jim is getting but my patch is small 2 large 3 year old bushes and spreading, got them surrounding my Septic tank covers that I have tried to get out and moved but they keep coming back and I need to cut them out again the septic needs pumping it's been my 3 years......LOL more ordinances.......

I want that sign too those city slickers are encroaching on us more and more, pretty soon out here in the middle of nowhere they will start there crap and have us all under ordinances for every critter we have. everything we wish to do, it's already bad enough ya need a friggen permit for every darn thing ya want to add to your yard, and we seriously live 15 miles from anywhere........... STAY IN THE **** CITY IF YA HATE CRITTERS....coops, horses, goats, cows, ducks ect. ..ARGGGGGGGGG Why is it that some people have nothing else to do but make trouble for other people.

Happy Belated Bday BigZ

newbies.......:welcome
I know I had more to comment on, but can't seem to remember what........ so for now take care everyone, have a good day ......Kim

Think one more batch this size and I'll start giving away too. Still have to make B&B's and relish but that can wait still have a jar of each from last year. The Roma's are starting to rippen now. Which reminds me shoulda got 2 cases of qt jars instead of one yesterday so we have some for L's marinara. Better get the jars washed up and get on with my other to do today things

Any saddle gurus on here? I picked up this old Circle Y yesterday. It was made in Shiner, TX. I cannot find any numbers on it other than a 1400 stamped into the tree. It's been used and abused but seems solid and very comfy. I'm just wondering how old it really is. The stirrups have the same tooling on them. I bet when it was new it was gorgeous.

Hi Everyone,

I hope I don't bother any one with this post and I know this is a long shot. It is something along the lines of when I told an someone that my husband is English and they responded by saying, "I know someone that lives in England. (name) does he know them?

My dad was born in Wisconsin and I am trying to trace our family tree for our kiddos. Quite a few of my extended family lived/lives in Crawford County. I am currently tracing the Salmon/Wallace side.

Two of my great grandparents were Martha "Bessie" Wallace and Charles Salmon. Both Charles and Martha were born in Wisconsin (1877?). They had 9 children, including my grandparent, all born in Wisconsin.

I have Charles' parents as Cutler Salmon (born: Indiana) and Rebecca Briggs (born: Wisconsin). According to my notes they had, including Charles, 4 children all born in Wisconsin.

I have Martha's parents as Isaac Wallace (born: Indiana) and Martha Turnmire (born: Indiana). According to my notes they had 13 children and I believe they were all born in Wisconsin.

I have Rebecca Briggs parents as Andrew Briggs (born: PA) and Mary Ann Taylor Everson (born: ?).

According to my notes, Andrew Briggs was married twice. His first wife was Elizabeth Burris (born: PA) They had 10 children. The youngest two were born in Wisconsin. His second wife, Rebecca's mother, was as stated above Mary Ann Taylor Everson. According to my notes they had, including Rebecca, 9 children all born in Wisconsin.

If anyone from my family tree has any information, corrections, family stories and or photo please feel free to share. I especially welcome corrections as I have found on the net that one extended family member has listed my dad as having died when he's still alive and kicking.

Thanks in advance.

Oh No... I think Doc is figuring out my secrets. Have you been peeping in windows like Tomski?

Yesterday was eventful. I don't think I'll give you the blow by blow ( :D ;) ) but the basics. The 8 yr old decided to run away. I decided to let him give it a go (for about 10 min). He packed a suitcase and was going to walk to town to his grandparents. The other boys were giving me updates on his progress up the road. I was unconcerned until they said a car pulled over to talk to him. (turned out to be great uncle Romie). At that point I went to get him. Then a grey truck is driving real slow down the road. This passerby called 911 because of the appearance of a possible child enticement or abduction ready to occur (when 8 yr old was talking to great uncle). The grey truck pulled into my driveway right after me looking for my child. I have to give my address to the 911 operator. I only avoided an officer visit by calling the 8 yr olds godfather, who happens to be a sheriff with Dane Co. Officer Dosher might be stopping by today though to talk to the 8yr old about the foolishness and seriousness of the running away phase he's in. (This is at least the third time this summer I've heard he's running away:rolleyes )

So who wants to trade places with me for a day? :D

I don't think it has ever even occured to my 9 yr. old to run away. But I remember moving into the lilac bushes when I was 9 yrs old because I wanted my mom to think I ran away. She found me. Then when I was 16 my parents took my car away for one night because they were sick of me running all over at all hours of the night. I threw my blanket and pillow out the second story window and somehow got down and walked down the road to sleep in a field. I figured they would see me missing in the morning and panic. And that would teach them. The only problem was a herd of deer walked up on me sleeping in the feild and started snorting at me. I thought it was a badger or something. I counted to 3 and jumped up to make a run for it. There was a doe right in my face! I tried to scream at her and scare her but it didn't work. And one of the others was snorting and, I swear, chasing me. I ripped my blanket on a barb wire fence trying to get away from them! So all that came out of that incident was getting laughed at by my whole family when I came rushing in the house with my ripped blanket terrified of deer.
