Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Morning all, Glad to see everyone here this AM, I'm late but I started at 5 and have been doing chores and cleaning since then to beat the heat........ even hung out 2 loads of laundry to dry seeing as how the dryer isn't yet fixed........ so Good thing to know on the goats Jim, because that's 1 I never heard b4 and will use sometime in the future, as I plan to start a small kinder goat herd when things get a bit better financially around here......I can't believe those seals are not included with that set, I think Adam will be surprised as well, well at least they are giving you a break on them, but it is sorta false advertizing in my opinion.and a buncha crap...........
.
I would normally agree with Jim on the let the old dogs go thing, if I felt I knew what was going on with my Boxer, the vet has been little help in diagnostics, he is guessing, so I'm gonna try a few natural things b4 I give up. I know my doggies can not stay with me for my entire life, none of my animals can because none of them have the life expectancy of a human, and I don't want an ape or parrot as a pet, because to my knowledge them are the exceptions to the old age rules....... I have had to put down my last 3 old doggies because of Cancer at almost 16, bad unfix-able hips at 161/2, and 1 because he was in so much pain due to an old injury, he received from a car hit as a youngster, it was just the right thing to do, he was 14. . My bugsy is another story so far, he was his old puppy acting self until 3 weeks ago, when he just stopped eating his dry food, then it went to stop eating at all...... so he went to the vet, and you all the know the saga since then, since he has been home he is almost like his old self again, acting puppyish and rolling around on the floor this morning and playing with the dog toy, he has been eating, everything I put down for him, he however still has the poohs...... I think it's the antibiotic and canned food, so he has 2 days of antibiotic left and we are gonna discontinue it, and switch to the liquid silver, we are also gonna add a pro biotic to reintroduce the normal gut flora back, and add a liver cleanse and booster with milk thistle, if that does not work I will admit defeat and put him down. Because by watching him today I am quite sure he does not yet want to die anymore than I do. When I had to put Jake down he was telling me he was ready every time he looked at me, Bugsy is not yet at that stage, and he is only 10, if he starts telling me it's time I will listen, until then I will do everything I can to make him feel better. And Yes make myself better as well, because I do not like to admit defeat, nor do I like watching any animal suffer. .........I'll post a few pictures what do you all think, this is bugs this Morning after breakfast......does he look like he is ready to die yet?.

BigZ did you have a sex change since I seen you last? I thought you were just getting your eyes fixed ...................hehehehehe

Welcome Three acres Farm...........My chickies have an insulated coop inside my garage, so they get no heat, I also have straight comb birds and none have suffered frost bite, but last winter was very mild next to our normal, will see what happens this year I may need to add a light on those 50 below nights.......... but more important than the heat is ventilation, there's a good thread here .hummmmmm search for something like Think your chickens can't handle the cold......think again or something like that. It has Lots of helpful ppl on that thread, dealing with our cold months and our feathered pets. I used to do all natural, but when my hubby lost his job and feed went through the roof, just couldn't afford it anymore, you could check your local mills they usually have access to natural feed, also have found it on the net, but shipping is a killer............ so good luck in new venture, you will love the chickens, they are awesome entertainment, and make a nice breakfast for ya. .

Well hope noone roasts today, at least here we have a nice stiff breeze, that will help the chickens at least stay cooler.......... later all. Kim

JIM....You wouldn't flip me off... You LOVE me! ;) Kindred spirits in the crabby @ss department. You're just layered in it more because you're old. :D

I've changed my mind. For the parade, I want Jim on the revamped Oliver in his tutu, knowledge fairy wings, socks and sandals. Then I need Doc walking next to him in the chicken suit. I need ideas what to dress Bigz and Unk in though. THAT my friends would be a show!!!!!:lol::lol:

good aft, my main bearings just arrived FedEx.. at least we can go forward with the rebuild..
I did some reading up on torques of bolts and other things.. I want to check out the pressure plate,, not that I suspect it is bad,, just might be oily .. I did clean up the flywheel this AM.. but it is too hot to work outside too long at a time.. I highlighted the TDC marks in case we have to use a timing light on it..

Kim, from those pics you provided, the dog looks dead.. RIP .......

BF4Me, why dress BigZ and UnkaDan at all ??

Amy, looks like you have guinea math down to a "T" ..

I had some take up residence across the road in the cornfield also.. I have not seen them there for a few days.. either they are back home,, or traveling through the woods in a critter's belly..

........jiminhisfvoritehideout..........

Bf4me if I'm in a chicken suit then one ought to be a hatchet and one a stump. You decide

Think I forgot to mention that those corn x's were nearly 16 weeks. had a heck of a time cutting off the wings. Couldn't discern them from the rest of the bird. They had to be over 12lbs.

very good but I'm not kiddin those babies looked so out of place compared to the rest of the bird. It's almost like they just sat around and ate and never flapped their wings at all.

Holy Hot One Today...maybe this will be the last real gag me day for the summer.

What a comedy show here today...

Made my day!

Welcome 3 acres...good advice from everyone...need to seal up the main coop so it's dry and free of drafts...don't need any snow drifts in the main coop....maybe a tarp around the outside and a deep bedding on the floor....summer homes are dang cold here in the winter. Good Luck.

I'm hunting close to you fenchie...just a couple miles from Laona...my comute is 85 miles one way...hope to get er done right away.

The amish neighbor gave me a couple watermellons....the best I had all year....Doc you can't believe how good they are...and OMG they actually have seeds and a crisp rind! Split like a cabbage when I touched the knife to it's side.

The laser was to save my vision, it all started with cataracts...Thankful I have some insurance help....It's been over 2 years and 20,000 out of pocket for me and the insurance has picked up over 100,000...yep wish I had a cheap glasses option unk, you don't know how lucky you are...just sayin.

Thanks Vick, I'll check it out and give it a try, just for something to taste. Yep, the holistic horse is the one who makes the womguard plus broad spectrum..you are buying from the source there. It goes a long way. I really don't think one needs to use it til they are switched to the layer feed and placed with the adult birds, and exposed to the real coop elements.

bbl...gotta watch the Pack...I suppose that's what TO is doing too!

Wow.. you guys are a hoot!!, I think we need to have Frenchie up on one of her drafts doing a lady godiva!!!, then Doc in a plucked chicken suit, close enough for nekkid!!
Well I got home to a "door to door' insurance sales person, she is very nice, lives in/around Elkhorn/IL.. I might actually go and get the accident insurance its like Aflac.
She raises alpacas and has chickens too.
We are watching the pack play and as soon as it gets to half time, I am gonna go feed the horses.
I found some hay that weighs at LEAST 70lbs a piece, for $8 dollars, which might be considered pricey, but any where near the capitol its pricey BUT most of what people are selling is grass hay.
I WILL not spend 5-6 bucks on grass hay that is only 50 lbs, this is 65/35 alfalfa/grass.

A sad day here, not for me, the fellow who got me started on Jaerhons with the 13 chicks I purchased 2 years ago (lost every single one of them to dogs, failure to thrive and URI's), he is getting out of ALL chickens. I got 5 hens from a friend of his that he split an order with that same year. I purchased 5 hens and 1 roo from him earlier this year, and I am getting the last four from him tomorrow.

He does have some very nice D'uccle bantams available, red/blues, black mottled, red/brown, 1 mille fluer, 1 grown lavender roo and 1 juvenile lavender roo, he is only selling pairs of grown birds, roo/hen, he has 4 pairs, and 5 juveniles. He is selling them for between 5-10, but would take offers.
He has NICE birds, 20 years of breeding into them. I had 2 of his roos to rehome, which I did and one was a very sweet bird, the other was nice, but one I remember was a nice handleable bird.
Kristi P is going to get a pair, I am probably going to get 2 juvies, my niece will be 8 next year so having some birds she can show in open shows OR at the Dane Co. fair will be nice.
Please let me know if you are interested, he wants to try to get rid of all of them by tues, he leaves for 8 days, so will have to make arrangements for feed and water with some one, and he is going to move soon.

Amyable,
Would you be interested in any jaerhons? Just wondering
