Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Evening all!
Nice day today all except for the heat. Cannot it not cool down and be fall already? Is a little snow to much to wish for???

The critters are all good. Got some errands done and DH and I went to Famous Dave's for dinner. Don't think we'll be out and about much this weekend in an effort to avoid the Weekenders....I like home the best when there are 3 day weekends.

My coop is not insulated but I hang a red heat lamp from a chain for the Girls to use if they need to during the winter. Oh and the Pheasant gets a lamp too. She doesn't like being cold. She glares at me all winter....

Welcome to the newbies!!

Well off to brush my teeth and get into bed.....my feet hurt tonight....
Later!!

MLH- Bite your tongue-let.LOL.. I like fall like everyone else, but with the rain, folks need the heat to get something out of their crops. I was talking to the dairy farmer I am getting some hay from, he said the corn has corn smut on it, probably nearly the whole southern part of the state, and that the corn has to be fermented for 4 weeks to break down the nitrates in it or its toxic to cattle due to the drought. AND that he had his corn tested and its got about 1-2% protein vs 30+% it usually would.
Even my landlord planted more soybeans because the crop around us is just terrible.

Evening, just sitting down for a few minutes, waiting for the dilly bean brine to heat up so I can fill jars and process them yet tonight. Have 6 quarts and 12 pints of dilly beans made up. DD and I picked another 15 gallons of green and yellow beans this am, along with a nice probably 1 qt of peas- DD shelled those and we made them for supper

DH is working on his truck just getting it all back together, have a unit to go clean tomorrow.

So is the Pack winning?

good PM, Annie picked about 5 gal of tomatoes.. and she picked a couple of ears of corn,, just to see how it looked.. It looked just fine and tasted very sweet,, If it tastes good raw, it will be great cooked.. the rows of kernels are full to the tip .. Serendipity,, that's the corn to plant.. I think I mentioned this last spring ?

I had a stiff neck, and now I have a headache.. I never get headaches.. I can't remember the last time I had one.. I know it was more than 6 years ago.. that is my cut off period for remembering the past.. If I go beyond that, then I will be senile..

I was going to mention something else.. can't remember.. must be from more than 6 years ago,, or ten minutes ago..

We should be hearing from TerriO, now that the Packer game is over; and they won..

Ghost, your puppy looks like he is enjoying life too much right now. You keep at it, you will know when it is time.

MLH, good luck with your pup as well. They can withstand a lot so don't be too quick to put him down.

Not watching football here! Watching something 'else'.

Sent the reporter some pics for the article tonight..... boy I hope the works in our favor!

Ok, back to MY show.....

Quote: Boy its tempting but I really shouldn't. i'm worried about feeding the birds I have thru this winter if things don't perk up. Where did he get his flock from? 20 years, that's actually older than the original import date (1994).

Yay on the Pack tonight! BL4, the 'show' is on in the background again now.

You are going to post a link when that article comes out, right??

Evening all, glad the parts came in Jim, I guess we will be seeing you over the weekend then HuH............Hope your headache goes away, I hate those things, don't get em often either, but when I do its a doozy....... I had to laugh at your post, and look back at the pictures, I guess its harder to catch a dog playing on a camera verses a camcorder LOL If ya didn't know him you would think he was dead in that 1 picture............ well I tried anyway....... and he is still improving the poohs is better tonight, and he ate 5 small meals today, I cooked him another chicken, cleaned it off the bone, added sweet potatoes, and a bit of burger, and some bread, and half a banana, he ate it all and 2 hours later ate a bit more.......... The bread and nanners will help with the runny butt, and hopefully the chicken is easier to digest than burger or steak. , and in a few days I will know how it's gonna go, as long as he keeps eating and keeps it down, he should improve, if not well at least I tried.

You guys that would be some parade, I think you all would end up in Jail......but it sure would make me Laugh my butt off, especially Jim in his tutu, and the chicken suit guy LOL
So anyway I must say night all earfly busy day tomorrow......... Sleep well........Kim

Awwww, so happy to see that Cody is finally getting to enjoy his life. Bravo to you, FT, for seeing that he got out of that horrible sitch.

So sorry to hear about everyone's doggie problems.

Ghost, I think cooking for your ailing dog is the best thing you can do. I too have no respect for SD. My sis had a 14 year old Maremma who had multiple tumors/cancer. Once she got the dog off dog food & started feeding her regular food, she got so much better. It really improved her quality of life tremendously. She made her a lot of turkey, chicken, rice and veggies in a slow cooker. Lots of herbs too but offhand I'm not sure which. You would have much better knowledge of that than I. Good luck with them both.

You too, MLH.

Vicki, great job on the coop! Good for you. Hope you've recovered.

Terri, so sorry to hear about Commander. Did you get a stall cleaned out for him now? That's good to hear. Winter will be here before we know it. Yuck! I have 2 BOs and neither one of them has ever gone broody. And that was why I originally got them.

But Alice's girls seem to have inherited their mommas broody gene. I had 3 go broody at one time.

Cind, thank you for posting that bit about plantain! That is the kind of stuff I want to know more of. Any good books you can suggest?

Vicki, did you go to the casino for dinner?

Well, that's as far as I got for catching up. And I'll be even farther behind in no time, I'm sure. But I've got to get to bed & get up early, so sweet dreams, all!
