CC-I know of *possibly* two people with Seabrights. One is in Kentucky (big Seabright breeder!) and I'll have to have DH double check with a account of his to see if their friend has them. I think he does. He is in WI. How soon do you want them?
Oh, no you don't you, you, you......you chicken enabler, you! I'm not LOOKING for seabrights. I'm looking for a home for one. Anyone?????

Beautiful Evening All... Holy Cow, I think I'm on the floor above Heaven with the supper Suzie made tonight! Thick cut pork steaks smothered in sauerkraut that are fall apart tender, baby potatoes and fresh buttered beets with fresh rolls made in the cast iron pan....fresh apple pie for desert and a whiskey and coke for wash!

Welcome back bigfam...musta behaved if the air marshals didn't arrest you... I'm suprised!

That is a cool gift bl4...nothing says love like a handgun...

can! Sure beats jewlery.

That is terrible news about Donnie...Best Wishes sent his way Doc...dang that sucks for sure.

Cute kittens Cind. Hope you can find good homes for them all.

Yikes TO...that had to suck...all in a days work! What are you gonna do next time?

That's the attitude to have Vickie....it's never easy but it's for the best reasons. The first time one needs to dispatch one is the hardest...give thanks to the Creator for life well lived, he will comfort those who ask. You will feel it in the breeze.

Lookin like a full moon out there. Not the best for bowhunting in my opinion.

OMG too cute! DrH you have got to take at least TWO! I personally love the one with the white blaze! And two kittens are WAY more fun that just one for sure....hey, we might as well be cat enablers too right?

Yes Vicki I am going back there tomorrow. Not sure if DH is coming too or not. I am hoping the son is already gone to work...

My soup was fantastic (I ate 3 bowls!) Everyone ate too much of it...it is a really good recipe for sure. PM if you want the recipe. It is made with tomatillos and is a little spicy too....MMM!

Got a nice prize in the mail today...thanks AMY! Do I just plant them out in the garden or do I have to start them inside? THose seeds are TINY! Thanks a bunch!

Gotta get the trash out now...good night and sweet dreams too!

Had frost last night, I am glad I covered the tomatoes. It feels like it is going to do it again tonight so the toms are covered again.

TO, I think you need to carry the Ruger..... I sure as he!! would not go back to that house!

DH made burgers and brats on the grill tonight..... I would like your supper too BigZ.... and try your soup Terri!

I finally got all the cr@p off the table!

I can make soap tomorrow after work! Yay me.... I am going to try and use the cow milk in it this time. I just don't like how the stuff made with water sets up. It never gets hard enough IMO. I need a goat.......

Time to watch some Bones.

Night!

Hey Bl4, did you see this from the Purely Poultry newsletter?

"A Fowl" of the Law

For people who want to own chickens, but cannot due to local ordinances, it may be difficult to believe that the Department of Agriculture once issued posters encouraging people to keep chickens. But, it’s
true. During WWI, the GreatDepression, and throughout WWII, American citizens were told to plant gardens, keep chickens, preserve produce, car pool, and take other frugality measures.
Comparing those times today creates a stark contrast. Today, there are reports of families being fined for having gardens in the front yard, when gardens were once a sign of patriotism. Prospective flock keepers all over the country are fighting for the right to have a few hens, whereas in the past, having a few hens was seen as the right thing to do. People were more likely to think you were odd for not having some fowl!
Obviously, much has changed in the last 80-90 years, and in many ways we are better for those changes. But declaring chickens illegal does not represent positive change, and in many cases, chickens remain off-limits due to ignorance. Despite the fact that people who keep chickens know that they aren’t “nasty” there is a widespread public perception that they are, indeed, nasty. And loud. And smelly. And possibly disease-ridden.
It takes work to educate people and to show them the benefits of having a few birds. We know that lots of our readers are working hard to help change laws related to keeping chickens, and we would like to help. Here are a few links to resources that may be beneficial to you. Also, we would love to hear about your situation, so please feel free to share your story on our Facebook Page. You never know, someone in our community may have some good advice (they usually do!).
