Well too late now! One batch Lav soap is setting up right now. Should be able to cut it tomorrow night. I did learn something out of it though.... you cannot replace cows milk for the water; it curdles. The natural homogenization of goat milk must prevent it from curdling.... I never had a problem with goat milk.
Time for me to relax...... I have my vino and some dark chocolate. Life is good.
Bl4... I hear ya on the bakery closing *sigh*.... first our bakeries went, then the doughnut shop went
Although the doughnut shop didn't close for lack of business. The baker died.
and he was a very, very good baker! Now all we have left is cr@py chainstore stuff. I swear they have 1 bland dough they make EVERYTHING from.
vicki.... so glad Stirfry went in her sleep.... much easier on all! Peace to little Stirfry....and to you.
Well, Ozzy the rooster came out of the only place he ever called home! (I think he probably fallowed a hen out lol) Anyway, at least for now he's a good boy and settled in on the BOTTOM rung of the roost... so far he knows his place. I am a bit worried because he is a real big boy with big spurs and could probably beat the **** out of the others.
At least now I can clean out that space and get the turkeys in there. Speaking of turkeys.... they all busted loose this morning but the youngest and a friend got them back in. After I fed and watered them, and was getting ready to close up, one got out.
It's sitting on the pole for the flight netting that will be the new turkey run. I just left it.
Almost got my "project" done for the white elephant!
Guess that's it... a little more to do tonight then off to bed!.... Night all!
She was just a silly hen I know, but she was a life that had been put in my care and I became really attached to her. She really was special. I could do whatever I needed to do to take care of her (washing bottom, shoving stuff down her throat, etc.) and she never once put up a real fight tho I did have to chase her a few times when she knew what was coming (I said she was gentle, not stupid! hehe)
Like I said before, tho in the past I have lived on an actual farm, I made a lousy farmer because everything got names and nothing got eaten but the grass!
(oh yea, the eggs and milk too because I was a lacto-vegetarian at the time). Even now I tell everyone my girls are strictly for eggs and entertainment!
Ghost Rider~ WOW!
How hard autumn must be for you, especially around the first holiday. Hope you don't mind if I add you to my prayer list.
Cindlady ~ that is the one thing I think I miss most about where we used to live before moving to the middle of nowhere. There used to be Breadmaster (?) shop less than a mile from us. It would open early in the morning and the smells!!! Each day they did all the regular breads plus one special and there would be a line every morning before they opened . On Sundays they would do something yummy like an apple bread and we would grab a fresh warm loaf, a pot of coffee and a pile of sunday papers, heaven!!! Oh and of course a crusty loaf of something for Sunday dinner
There is no bakery anywhere near us that has that level of quality and skill and I really miss it.
Have a great weekend everyone!!! Hope you all have a great time at the bash!!!!
Morning everyone, Ty Vicki and any extra prayers are always appreciated............ same goes to you and stirfry, who would have ever guessed we would get so attached to a chicken, but low and behold they are great pets, that do need some care and we get attached to them. I think mostly it's a motherly instinct thing, because most of the people I know who really love there chickens and do anything for them are women. Men just think different for the most part, and most of them are the ones that say well it's only a chicken...........and they are right to an extent, but a women will feel the loss much more, I think........Sorry guys it's just my experience, that men are much tougher in this department....
Anyway Jim .........Adam is finally on his way, he helped me with the neighbors chores first, so he got a bit of a later start than we had planned. He is bringing a jar of ground cherry jam and some almost ripe cherries incase ya want to keep seeds for next year, or they are just good to munch on too.. the Jam is not set up yet and the recipe said it could take up too two weeks, so it's a tad runny yet.... if ya do plant em for next year keep them pretty far away from your actually planting garden area, because they spread much more than I thought they would, and I wish now I would have planted mine much farther back. I think I will have a zillion plants in the area next year, never gonna get them little buggers all picked up............so will have to weed them out. Oh well always have many extras of those anyway.
So I promised a picture os Jarets Tattoo, here it is.......... why bats and skulls who knows but thats what he wanted
I will post the actual tat on November 17th when he turns 18 and gets it.......... Later all have a great day, lots of work for me to do today.....Kim
Good afternoon! Thanks for missing me JJ! I did not have to ask for bail 'cause he was as sweet as pie to me! I definitely thing he is bi-polar or has Schizophrenia or something! All I can say is it was really scary! Good idea about the pepper spray Vicki (?) Kim(?) Cant remember now who said it.
Today I was supposed to go riding with friends at Palmyra but one's truck had a bad smell and even though my DH came out and said it was most likely the E brake being over adjusted from the brake job she just had, she didnt want to chance it. So we "rode" at my friends' place....yeah, every thing started badly and just got worse! My finger got caught as I was tying the quick release knot cause her psycho horse spooked at a door closing...the her other one kicked another womans horse in the leg/chest and then the one I was riding stopped dead and wouldnt move...only to rear and start to spin! I am glad I learned how to do an emergency dismount cause I did it! Then my friend did the same cause her horse started going spastic! Sheesh! I figured I didnt want to find out what my third strike might be so I went home. SOmetimes you just have to say ENOUGH.
We got the front electric fence up and now DH and all the kids went to the Brewer's game...house is MINE ALL MINE>>>ahhhhh! LOL!
Sorry about your henny Vicki! Way hard...I was hoping the same for my rooster that was "snatched bald-headed" Thursday night...he was still alove though when I got home from work so I did him in. He had some problem with his legs...I am going out now to open him up and see if the organs have tumors like that Marek's article talked about...he was walking weird before they attacked him.
I am starting to get concerned about Frenchie..... I know she is down in Racine with her aunt but a check in once in a while would be nice..... I sure do hope her Aunt is ok, she is such a pistol!
I hit a dead skunk on my way to work this morning... now the Jetta has a slight ode de skunk essence to it. I did go through the car wash and that helped, but I guess the only thing to remove the smell completely will be time.
I have everything for the bash all ready to go; cheese, crackers, sausage, soap,..... I should probably load up the van tonight.....
My DD's BF is going to cook dinner for us tonight; wild turkey (not the booze). I thought I would bake some sweet potatoes and make some barley to go with it.....
Afternoon all!
Had a busy morning with the dump run and all. Then DH wanted to go to the movies so we went for pizza and a movie in Stoughton. WE say Hotel Transylvania. It was ok. Next week is Frankenweenie. That should be good. Tim Burton and Disney. DH said that he wants to take me to World War Z. I said Brad Pitt aside, no freekin' way....He is on his own for that movie.....Clowns and Zombies I can do with out...
Everyone here is good! I still have stuff to get together for Heather's Bash tomorrow.....I need to make a list before I forget!
So with that in mind.....later!
